“Nice, but spoit by noisy air-conditioning unit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

This is an excellent hotel with quality staff in a good location. However the external air-conditioner on the ground floor roof was very noisy and even several floors above - I was in RM 314, it required ear plugs to sleep well at night. This problem must be well known to the operator and you should check before you go to bed that this noise is not intrusive in the room that you are assigned. Be particulalry careful to turn off the room ac unit so that you can hear any intrusion from outside. Hilton should deal with this asap either by replacement of shrouding or acoustic window treatments as it spoils an otherwise excellent experience

Happy Hour was not a good experience- Appetizers were awful. Chips stale, salsa no taste, pepper poppers cold and overcooked. Breakfast buffet okay, did not like that the tip was pre-calculated for 20% for a table of 3. It was a BUFFET not prime service.

Dear Deborah M,

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns with your food and beverage experience. We have been in the process of evaluating our "happy hour" snacks over the past several weeks and we agree that these items are not up to standard. The hotel has revamped our offerings to make sure we are providing the best products to our guests. In response to the concerns with the gratuity, we will investigate this practice to make sure that we are providing the best possible service and experience to our guests.

Warm regards,

Jenni at the front-desk went above and beyond the call of duty when I recently had to cancel my reservation and switch to a hotel in far south Houston. As I waited there at the front desk, she called several hotels to find one with a vacancy, made the switch for me, and gave me the address and phone. Much appreciated help at the end of a long day!

I stayed at this hotel for four nights on business during May , even for Houston prices I found this hotel to be expensive.

Free 24 Hour tea/coffee available.

Staff extremely helpful, ask at reception they will drop you off via hotel vehicle for a certain radius.

All in all, a decent hotel but felt it to be expensive.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

Our extended family of 3 generations recently stayed here, while visiting Houston for business/pleasure. This was a good choice for our needs of room size, breakfast, pool, parking garage and proximity to the Galleria. We have had many stays at Hilton's Homewood Suites and expected this to have less amenities. On the contrary, it might have had more, with exception that our rooms were not inclusive of a full kitchen. They do have microwave, small fridge and a nice Kurig coffee maker in the room. The outdoor pool and waterfall was very enjoyable with our young grandchildren! Breakfasts were one of the highlights of the stay. We bought a room rate that included that meal, for a small additional charge. The made-to-order omelets and fresh fruit were a treat! Their dining staff was wonderful. (There is a happy hour and restaurant in this hotel, but we didn't have other meals here.) Since we had been traveling for a couple of weeks, we made use of the on-site laundry machines. All worked well. We went to the Galleria a couple of times for shopping and family dinners. It is so easy to walk through the parking garages, with only a short walk across the street into Nordstrom. This was very helpful on rainy days! Lastly, their reception and cleaning staff was always kind and helpful to our family. All-in-all, this was a most enjoyable stay!

This hotel had all of the amenities that one would expect out of a Hilton. Funny thing, though, there is a very up-scale Gentleman's Club right beside it so it was interesting watching the clientele come and go! The staff was nice, rooms clean, location near the Galleria very convenient even if you do not have a car. I will stay there again should my travels take me back to that area.

The lobby area is very pleasant with an interesting, historical decor. Ir's also nicely lit and has a nice view to the pool area. I have fond memories of sitting there to read a book and people watch. The area is also very convenient, 5 minutes walk to the Galleria mall.

The staff were nice and helpful. The room was basic but comfortable and I particularly appreciated their Nespresso coffee maker. In contrast to other hotels I stayed at recently you get a choice of coffee in your room!

The problem is that, unless there is a special deal on, the rates are rather steep for what is more of a homely hotel.
