Our 18 year old son has long been a huge fan of NASA and all things related to space and space science. Our family of 4 felt this was the best part of a four day trip to the Galveston Area. Our tour guide was excellent with a true passion and insight into the history of the space program. We sat in the Historic Mission Control seats from Apollo 13 and toured the modern day Mission Control where we were able to see the updates from the International Space Station and incredible images of our planet that were breath taking in scope. There are too many exciting moments to list. It was an inspiring, detailed journey that only those with a true passion for space exploration will enjoy-we felt like VIP's and enjoyed seeing where today's astronauts train, and where the engineers are working on future projects like the ORION. We have a proud history of space travel in this country and we left looking forward to what comes next! Money well spent.

having been to Kennedy space center in Florida a couple of times, I have to say that the Johnson Space center was a slight disappointment.
it's much smaller for one, and a lot fewer exhibits. the indoor exhibits are more of a science museum. I guess perhaps I was expecting too much?
the highlight was the control center but that was about it.

A trip to Houston would not be complete without visiting the Johnson Space Center. Located about 40 minutes outside downtown Houston by car, the Johnson Space Center has something for everybody. Plenty of interesting displays and interactive booths with space equipment are located inside the main building. A tram takes you on one of two outdoor tours to either the command center or the astronaut training center. Tram rides take about an hour, and the wait line to get on the tram was another 60 min. standing outside in the hot, humid, Houston weather! Inside was very crowded too!

We spent the day with two grand kids....third and fifth graders. The day was very educational and a lot of fun. The highlight was the tram tour...which is 90 minutes and takes a tour of current and historical facilities. There are several exhibits which include very good videos and exhibits. Additionally, there are experiences which involve simulation of weightlessness and flight. The kids had a great time.

Nowadays it's more about kids and money than a proud monument to science and exploration.

There was a time when going there felt like you were eavesdropping on the very best and brightest as they worked. Now it's an expensive kiddie park with a ball pit and everything.

They still have a tour that allows you to look at the old mission control which is awesome and you can get up close to some suits and a launcher but it isn't really worth going to anymore.

When i was kid, my parents would take us every so often and it was awesome. I went back a few months ago and was terribly disappointed. It's like a chucky cheese or the back of a mcdonald's with some space stuff off to the side.

I wish they had more hard science and technology exhibits, more interactive activities and maybe lectures and symposiums but they've gone in a different direction. I guess that stuff just doesn't sell.

Pity really.
