Went for a late lunch and was greeted and seated fairly quickly. I ordered the New Orleans Red beans. It tasted reheated and had no flavor. The pork chop was paper thin as well. My bf ordered the shrimp platter. You could tell the shrimp had been sitting out under a heater and the fries weren't fresh either. Needless to say we wont be returning.

Use to love the great breakfast buffet (along with other meals), but today was sadly disappointed. Nite to kitchen - hot food should be served hot. Make sure your warmers are properly functioning. There should be no comparison when it comes to Po Melvin's buffet and Grandy's buffet, but today Grandy's would have won.

This place serves in large quantity good and healthy food without much of taste boosting accompaniments. The dishes are therefore just for the American taste buds looking for cheap and healthy lunch/dinner.Most of the customers sre old timers but overall I enjoyed the dinner.

This is why I go back, Service excellent, Even when packed you never see people sitting at table waiting for food. Fried pickles are some of the best I have ever had. Not sure what/how they fry their food but it is not greasy and is one of the reasons I can gorge on those fried pickle chips. Po Boy sandwiches, Greek Salad, everything I have had is excellent.

Eaten at Mel's many years. Always fresh hot and clean here. This is a meat or entree & 3 vegetables plate lunch cafe. Fresh breads and rolls. We love the jalapeno cornbread, soups such as Gumbo or Chicken/ Dumplins. Great fried fish. Homestyle fresh cut fries. Man thank you Mel!
