I loved my stay at this hotel! Stayed here for a week while in town on business, the location was perfect. It is right in the heart of Las Colinas and is near many restaurants, stores, etc. Everything about my stay was perfect. The atmosphere of the NYLO is so much fun, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the pool area is very relaxing. I recommend staying here if given the chance.

We're so glad that you stayed with us during your business trip to the Irving area. Not only are we close to some great shopping and dining areas, many within walking distance, we are also close by the many corporate offices which call Las Colinas home. We want to make sure you're as productive as possible during your stay with us, whether that's taking advantage of our complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel and free local and domestic long-distance phone calls, or having a restful night in our NYLO NYTE bed and waking up with a hot rainfall shower.

I have been conducting 3 day training classes at this hotel for over three years and the customer service, food and hotel is simply five star!!! I teach sales and customer service classes for my company and the staff of the NYLO needs no training!! simply awesome all the way around.

Room Tip: Book a suite!

The NYLO in NYLO Hotels stands for “New York Loft” signifying a type of architectural design, though you won’t find that info anywhere on the NYLO website, I had to dig for that tidbit. But even if you didn’t know what the name meant most people would think “New York” when they see the logo signage, especially because the NY sits atop the LO.

Interestingly NYLO just opened its first hotel in NYC in the fall of 2013. By then there were three NYLOs in the Dallas area. The only other NYLO at this writing is in Rhode Island.
My wife and I stayed at the NYLO Las Colinas in Irving.

Having read a brief description of NYLO’s “signature urban, industrial style” we were prepared for the unusual, and we were not disappointed (at least not in that respect). It is unusual: extremely low lighting (even in the hotel lobby), bare concrete and brick walls, floors, and ceilings. And the rooms are no different.

Our room was long and as narrow as a cruise ship cabin. As a matter of fact my wife said the layout of the room was exactly the same as the cabin we had on our first cruise. The door to the bathroom was an industrial size sliding door on big rollers (though it would be easy even for a child to slide open or closed). Long canvas drapes as well as ‘artwork by local artists’ hid most of the bare concrete side walls. The king size bed was nearly as wide as the room with a small Plexiglas table on either side and just enough room to slip by so you could raise and lower the curtain over the window behind the bed. But we thought we could see at least some of the reasoning and maybe a little beauty behind all this minimalist design.

However, once we lay down on the bed and looked up at the ceiling the minimalist beauty gave way to dingy factory crud. Well, what looked like crud was just some kind of stains on the concrete ceiling (see photo). But it was not a pretty sight.

The more I read their literature, both online and the stuff in the room, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that what NYLO was trying to sell as chic and cool was really ‘let’s see how much less the cost of construction is if we don’t use the normal building materials that go in after the concrete skeleton is in place, just leave it ‘as is’, don’t lower our price, but sell the exclusivity and environmental consciousness of our design.’ In other words, Flim Flam the public.

As to the price: our king room was just under $100, not cheap but certainly not expensive. But if you were to figure the price based on square footage of your room I think NYLO would lose out to any of the major luxury hotel chains.

Now, aside from this ‘our hotel is not really tacky, it’s avant gard and you just don’t get it’ façade, the NYLO personnel we met were all friendly and seemed to be well trained for their positions. Our room and all the public places were neat and clean. The breakfast we had in their restaurant (also poorly lit), though not exceptional, was first rate. Both the buffet that I dived into as well as the cooked to order omelet my wife enjoyed were first rate. The fresh fruit (strawberries, honeydew, pineapple, and blueberries) was fresh and ripe and delicious. Especially good, though almost hidden at the end of the buffet line, was their breakfast casserole. The omelet and the casserole both had cream cheese blended in with the egg which gave it a wonderful flavor.

In closing I would say that if you knew what NYLO hotels were about going in (as we did, kind of) and you like a little bit of adventure now and then, then give a NYLO hotel a shot. Given the chance though, I would suggest that NYLO’s management not try to pull the wool over their customers eyes with all this chic urban industrial design verbiage and that they consider having local artists paint graffiti on the ceiling to hide the gross stains. It couldn’t hurt the esthetics one bit.

Room Tip: The only noise we heard in our room was the shower from the room above which makes sense when you realize that all the plumbing from the floor above is hanging out of your ceiling. But, unless you have some kind of clean freak that should not be a problem. Or you could ask for a room on the 5th (top) floor.

Thank you so much for giving us a try here at NYLO Las Colinas. We can certainly understand that our design may not be to everyone's taste, and we moreover appreciate your staying with us. We can assure you that our team takes extreme care to ensure the most comfortable and enjoyable amenities are installed in the hotel, including our pillowtop NYLO NYTE mattresses, high-end bedding and linen, rainfall showerheads, Keurig coffeemakers, PURE bath products, iHome sound systems, and we are in the midst of installing LG LED televisions. Outside of the rooms we continue to evolve the hotel, such as refurnishing our Library and LOFT Restaurant, and installing a beautiful arbor dining area and gas-powered fire pit in our outdoor courtyard. Considering all of the wonderful amenities available throughout the hotel, our guests agree that we have priced ourselves quite well in the Las Colinas and Dallas markets.

Thank you for your kudos to our service-oriented team, a top rating for our delicious offerings in the LOFT Restaurant, and especially for the high quality of cleanliness throughout the hotel. We certainly appreciate your suggestions and feedback, and hope to see you again soon.

This is a great facility. Nice change of pace. The showers are awesome; feels like you are showering in a rain forest. Andrew (bar area) was very professional and personable. Made my stay feel like home.

My wife and I started our honeymoon here before flying to St. Lucia. We like unique and different, and NYLO does this well. Great service, excellent food, relaxing environment. We got a suite on the second floor- worth a little extra.

Don't stay here if you hate lofts- it is a loft through-and-through. Urban feel. It had all the amenities we needed and more. They really took care of us. Loved it.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the suite for $50 more. Worth it.
