“Fantastic place to stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2013

This was a fantastic place to stay. The rooms were lovely and the breakfasts delicious and unique. The location of the Carriage House allows you to easily walk around Jefferson to visit the shops and museums. Stephanie the owner and host is friendly, helpful and was fun to be around. We were with a large group that had booked all the rooms and Stephanie was great to us for the weekend.

My husband and I, along with another couple, had such a great time staying at this B&B. As one who traditionally does NOT like to stay at a B&B (I know, I'm busted), I really loved the experience. Stephanie, the innkeeper, provides the best of both worlds. Guests have privacy with the outside entrances to most rooms, but she fosters relationships with her hospitality and breakfast introductions around the table. I always thought "eating with a table full of strangers on vacation...AWKWARD!", but she made it seem more like a family reunion. The fire pit burning real wood definitely encourages that community atmosphere as well--LOVED that! We found ourselves sitting there in the late afternoons having a glass of wine and some great conversation. There is plenty of seating around that common area--one afternoon there were 8 of us around the fire. We'll have to come back so that we can take advantage of the swing on the wrap-around porch, as well as the table and chairs sitting area--we ran out of time! The property has plenty of places both to socialize AND to have privacy.

Stephanie's attention to detail makes the experience 5 star. She provides a Keurig coffee maker in the lobby with a large selection of coffee and other drinks, complementary snacks in the lobby, complementary bottled water and soft drinks in the fridge on the breezeway, wine bottle openers and wine glasses, iPod docking/charging station in the rooms, she pampers her guests. And then there is the GREAT coffee, available at 7 a.m. just steps from the rooms and the wonderful breakfast that follows at 9 a.m. (I asked for some of her recipes).

Stephanie offered, upon our arrival, to make any reservations for the activities we had planned. She took care of scheduling our Big Cypress Bayou boat trip, Caddo Lake steamboat ride, historic carriage ride and our Ghost Walk. Amazingly, though Jefferson is a small town, there is A LOT to do in and around there. In addition to the things she arranged for us, there is also a historic steam engine powered train, many antique stores, as well as the historic homes (some of which offer tours).

The property is so beautifully restored and so comfortable, I hope lots more people find it. Guess I'd better book early next time.

Room Tip: There are 2 rooms in the house right off the "parlor" area. The rest have private entranc...

It is that time of year again when my cousin and I begin our journeys back to Jefferson, Texas and our stay at the Carriage House. It is like going back in time and all our cares just drift away. The Carriage House is so relaxing and comfortable that if we had any aches or pains we forget all about them. Stephanie and Tom are just like family and even if it is your first time, before you leave you will feel like family.

Room Tip: Every room is perfect. The cottages are more secluded, but the main house is just as comfortable.

This was our first trip to Jefferson and Stephanie made it a fantastic stay for us. Fabulous breakfasts every morning. Within walking distance of Everything! A wonderful stay in every way. We are already planning our return trip! Looking forward to another quite afternoon on the porch swing and gathering on the courtyard for wine with the family around the fire pit..

We loved returning to Carriage House! Highly recommend this b & b. Our room this time was in the main house and we discovered that we prefer a room in the "cottages". The room was lovely and wonderful but just not as quiet and secluded feeling as the cottage rooms.

This was our very first stay at the Carriage House B & B, but it will definitely not be our last! My husband and I enjoyed every amenity that this beautiful and quaint home offered. Stephanie was an exceptional and charming hostess and the breakfast with the other guests was wonderful. I personally enjoyed the historical details that our hostess shared with all of us about her home and the town of Jefferson. I could tell that the other guests were just as reluctant to leave this lovely B & B as we were. Can't wait for a return to this area and enjoy the Carriage House B & B again! David and Laure S.

Room Tip: We choose the William Perry room and loved the antiques from the Eastlake period. Just right outside...
