I have stayed at this hotel regularly over recent months and it has provided a very stable work base for me. It is very well located right on a main arterial junction on the outskirts of Colchester and is easily accessed.

The hotel is cheap and clean and has abundant free parking and the decent wifi. Yes it could do with a refurb and updating as the carpets and fixtures/fitting and bathrooms are quite well used and dated (although of all the 7+ rooms I have stayed in they all have flat screen TVs). Beds are pretty comfortable and there isn't too much noise from other guests.

The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and not detached from guests and manners like at a lot of hotels frequented by people staying for work.

My only quibble with the hotel is the food, as its quite poor, this is easily resolved with a Table Table restaurant on the opposite side of the roundabout that this hotel is located on, literally less than a 10min walk from the hotel.

All in all, if you are looking for somewhere clean, cheap and cheerful you will struggle to go wrong here

Room Tip: ask for a room on the upper floor, as these are quieter rooms than downstairs :)

Stayed overnight while travelling. Initial welcome from receptionist was cool, made no eye contact. Subsequent members of staff were very helpful and friendly. Big problem with this hotel is the rooms that, allegedly, have been refurbished. Shabby carpet in the room (201) with cut-outs for a radiator, obviously transferred from another room. Coffee stains on room wall. Broken chair back, verging on dangerous. Also no valance on the bed leaving bed base exposed. Cobwebs on light fittings. Pretty basic cleaning not being done.
Positive things: Comfortable bed. Tea/coffee facilities in room. Good car parking. Convenient location for vehicle users or overnight stay whilst travelling, etc. Quiet.
Won't rush back to stay here again.

Stayed here during a training course as this hotel was recommended by the training provider. It was at a discounted rate, around £20 per night cheaper than other hotels in the area. The location was ideal as it was about a 15min walk to the training centre. The rooms are spacious, a massive double bed, very comfortable, bath with shower, tea making facilities etc. It was very clean and very good value for money. Staff were friendly. The only downside I'd say was the pricey menu and also when I was checking out there were a few items on my bill, that I'd not had! Obviously someone had billed their bar tab to my room and had a jolly good time! Apart from that I'd stay there again no problem.

My Fiancé & I stayed here earlier in the year. We found a cheap deal so managed to get a room for £20. For the price we paid we couldn't complain. The room was clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant and although the food was very nice, the portion sizes were a little on the small side for my Fiancé. Two mains and 2 soft drinks came to around £25.
We would visit again and would recommend if you were looking for good value, no frills hotel.

I spent one night at the hotel while playing in a weekend sports tournament. The room was clean and functionally (if unexcitingly) furnished, with no noise issues. I did not try the restaurant as I was being "fed" elsewhere.

My only complaint is: being required to have my credit card swiped as a "pre-authorisation", despite having paid upfront and my protestations that I would not incur any other expense at the hotel during my (twelve hour) stay. This "company policy" (as I was told) suggests that the hotel does not trust its clients, even when they have already paid for their accommodation, which I find slightly insulting.

Spent 1 night Bed & breakfast here. Price was very competitive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good nights sleep with no road noise. Breakfast was very good with a very good choice. Should suit everyone. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Just a one night stay here. Room was basic, clean and comfortable. Had a good night sleep- no noise from the roads. Wifi connection was free and was a good signal, which is essential in my view. Breakfast was good, only disappointment for me was there was no veggie sausages.
