Every time I visit Kerrville, a must stop is River's Edge Gallery, right in the heart of downtown. They have recently expanded, doubling the space and displaying a beautiful array of western art, contemporary art and more. The flow of the gallery invites you to linger, and each painting, print or giclee is worth your notice.
A nice touch are the two "welcome dogs", Roxie and ?, who belong to the owners and are unobtrusive yet offer a pleasant touch. And yes, the owners, Debbie and Mike, are well versed in art and most willing to work with you.
Prices range from affordable to pricey. Most are done by well-known Texas artists. It helps that River's Edge also does custom framing, and they are happy to work with you on just the right frame. This was a service that I loved -- it turned out perfect.
If you're just passing through Kerrville, take time to visit River's Edge, then stroll downtown to the other shops, antique mall, boutiques, cultural center and the veranda overlooking the Guadalupe River. And of course there are a number of great place for eats in downtown. Take exit 508 off of I-10.
