We travel twice a summer to Kerrville to take and pick up our daughter to camp. We have stayed almost everywhere in the area, by far, the Inn of the Hills was the best yet. Nice pool, good food, friendly staff. I know where we will be staying next year. Thank you for a great experience.

We had our 74th Motor Maid Convention at this hotel....it was PERFECT! It is much bigger than it looks but everything is so easy to walk to and just a perfect place for a LARGE group (around 500) to sit and get to know everyone! We even had one lady get married it was such a perfect spot. I guess the AC not seeming to cool off as much as we like was our only issue for our room.

Room Tip: The pool side rooms are very nice

We recently stayed here for a ride in the hill country and really enjoyed the hotel. The location and amenities are great. The rooms and service are everything you would want in a mid priced hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area. The only real complaint I have is that the shower head is very low and makes it a little uncomfortable for taking a shower.

We booked through Priceline two nights and were ASTONISHED how nice this hotel was. Old folks friendly!!!!! Staff was extreemly nice, restaurant was fantastic ($$$), our room was immaculate and updateded. Very quiet surroundings and convenient to downtown. Think "old style Vegas" but across from Walmart. Most of the motels are off the interstate but this one is off the path a few miles away with a shortcut to I- 10. Very clean and well kept grounds and rooms. A few feet from the Guadelupe river. We are in process of moving to Kerrville and will stay here again. Did I say how nice the staff was?

Room Tip: Convenient to everything

I'm not sure why the poor reviews. I was a little nervous but our room was really nice and spacious enough. It was in the updated section, I was told. The rooms were equipped with a larger than normal hotel/motel fridge, a microwave, coffee pot with good coffee, iron and hair dryer. The bathtub drain was a little slow and the microwave was not plugged in. We had to move the microwave to the desk to plug it in and use it since we could not move the dresser/credenza away from the wall where it was to plug it in. The free continental breakfast was fine for us and provided enough to eat including fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, bagels, english muffins, jellies, good selection of juices, and cereal. This was plenty enough for us to start our day. The waitress even provided us with some peanut butter for our english muffin when we asked. The best part is the pools. The pool area inside the hotel was nice and included small private-like seating areas with plenty of chairs/tables. We walked across the parking lot to swim in the pool on the river bank which was a treat. The pool was a very comfortable temperature and we had the pool almost to ourselves. The view of the sunset from this pool was awesome. The rates were very reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for the updated rooms overlooking the pool/courtyard.

First off they say you can arrive early and find things to do around the hotel, well you can if you want to hang out at the bar or you travel in your swimsuit. Second the front desk is rude as is most of the staff. We had a "coupon" for a free continental breakfast or $4.00 off the buffet, well since we wanted more then toast and pastries we went for the buffet, we had fake eggs (the kind you boil in a bag like the hospital uses) precooked bacon (you just heat it and it's done) and the sausage was brown and serve all for $7.00 a person and that was after our $4.00 "coupon". If you plan on swimming you better like ice water because no matter which of the 3 pools you get in that is what you get. For the price we paid we could have gotten better service and a better price at motel 6. We will never stay here again!!!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We recently stayed at Inn of the Hills for one night. It is a vintage motor lodge, which reminded me of those long, Summer car vacations when I was a kid. I was able to book one of the rooms in the "casa," which is a detached structure in the middle of the courtyard next to the rock pool. The room was not large, but more than enough for two people for one night. The room must have been updated in the last 5 years or so, and had a small fridge.

There was a small seating area on the balcony overlooking the rock pool, which is nice, but the ash tray was full, which was a little off-putting. Not a big deal, ultimately. The waterfall at the rock pool provided a nice bubbling noise throughout the night.

The continental breakfast was a bit limited, but you receive a coupon for $4 off the full buffet breakfast, which makes the price about $6.

Overall I think that for a few nights this is a good choice in Kerrville. There is a nostalgia to the place I appreciate. I mean, honestly, I can stay at a Hampton in anywhere.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms in the "casa" seem to be in a prime location.
