I have stayed here several times recently when in the area for work. The rooms are clean and quiet. There is a small fridge and a microwave in each room, which is very helpful when you are staying for more than a day at a time. It is not a new motel but appears to have been renovated recently and I like the paint colors in the rooms. Not a fancy place but clean and restful for those of us working away from home.
Stayed here during the antique's week show. The room was clean, clean, clean and for being an older motel was very well equiped. The room had a microwave and refrigerator which came in very handy. There were a lot of people staying the first couple of nights and we did not hear any noise. The room was a good size and the beds were very comfortable. The only negative was that it did not have a coffee maker in the room, although, coffee was available at the front desk in the morning. The wi-fi was a little spotty at times. Overall, a very good stay.
Just needed a nice inexpensive place to sleep after a wonderful Easter barbecue vs driving back to Houston at night. The staff is very courteous & attentive. The room was spotless. Nothing fancy but clean, nice & included an iron, ironing board & a hair dryer. There is even a mini fridge. We were able to bring our dog for an extra $10. We were very pleased & would definitely stay there again. Also, two good restaurants across the road. La Marina very good, friendly, cheap and lots of regulars. Riverside Cafe has good reputation but we didn't have time to visit.
We have stayed here for several years, twice a year, while doing the Round Top Antique Show.
It has always been an acceptable place to stay, but this year, it was a very good place to stay. The room we were in was completely remodeled this year - new beds, furniture, wiring for computers, carpet, paint. The rooms are large enough for two weeks worth of clothes and junk that we haul when we work. Air conditioning/heating system worked fine (yes, we used both, it was Texas in the spring!) and we were comfortable and content. We heard complaints (loud ones) about the lack of hot water in the morning; we just revised our schedule - husband took his bath at night; I took mine at 6 am, and there was plenty of hot water then. The place fills up during the antique show and sometimes folks party some, but the soundproofing seems to be pretty good most of the time. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Rate is better than most of the places available at this time of the year. We like this place and will stay for the forseeable future.
Have stayed here for several years while visiting the Round To area during antique weeks. The rooms are always clean and have been recently updated. Most have microwave and refrigerators. Upstairs rooms are quieter..Downstairs rooms you hear footsteps from above room. Rooms are large, water pressure is good and hot. Prices are very fair.
We needed a place to stay on the way back from a trip to Bandera. Unfortunately, we were traveling the same weekend as the Austin Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. I found this out quickly after getting outrageous rate quotes for hotels and motels within a 60-mile radius of the race. The River Valley Inn was one of the few places that didn't price gouge and was conveniently located. Because it's not part of a national chain, the price was very affordable. I had read some mixed reviews online for it, but our experience there was very pleasant. Of course, you have to appreciate it for what it is -- a cheap, clean, convenient place to spend the night that feels safe and is close to shopping, restaurants, and the main highway. If you are looking for luxury, you are looking in the wrong place. But we found this place to meet our needs and had a comfortable and quiet night's rest. They were helpful and accommodating too! Our friend was given a smoking room by mistake. They corrected the situation by upgrading him to a nicer non-smoking room than he had originally booked -- all at a time when there weren't many rooms to spare. We were pleased with the customer service, and would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves staying overnight in La Grange in the future.
