The brisket and pulled pork were moist and very tasty. Mac and cheese and green beans were average. Cole slaw, potato salad and pinto beans were good. The stuffed jalapeño was excellent. The bbq sauce was delicious Would definitely return.

I love smoked turkey and Firehouse has some of the best... However, if you want some, arrive early because it doesn't last long, it's that good!

We stopped in on our way home from vacation. The entry/ordering/serving area was very small, and guest should be courteous and make room for other arriving guests. The couple in front of us acted as if they hadn't eaten in days but didn't appear to have missed any meals. They pretty much rudely took up most of the entry/ordering/serving area. The food was worth the short the wait. The BBQ was extremely tender and flavorful. The portions were reasonable when compared to other comparable establishments. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The inside eating area was comfortable and provided a classic atmosphere. Price wise, I feel we got our money's worth. Bottom line is, give them a try and be courteous to other customers! I definitely recommend the rib plate with a side of brisket!

It looks like a Texas BBQ joint and the parking lot appeared full, but this was no affirmation of taste or quality. The entrance area is not conducive to more than 3 people with being contorted into a worm-like line that is confusing and congested to swing right in front of the kitchen entrance. It is an inefficient process, as customers ordering large to-go packages were treated one by one in the same line as those ordering a plate. Only one server handled the meat, which by the way was low on portion size and taste. The beef was tough, the chicken overcooked - dark and dry; turkey rubbery and tasteless. We ordered a 2 meat plate with sliced beef and turkey and it consisted of 3 small strips of unremarkable. no-seasoning meat about an inch wide by quarter inch thick and maybe 2 oz. of turkey. My wife noted that even as we were walking up or standing in line, we never smelled that good charcoal/ wood smoke aroma. All the meat we saw was in tin foil pans. The meat server lady was cold and aloof, and the cashier fumbled like she had never seen a register before. The young man serving the side vegetables was friendly and anxious to help, but the portions he added to the plate did not cover up the empty space around the inadequate meat. The sitting area is choppy, and in that room is a small side cart offering some bread, onion, pickle and jalapenos for those who want it self-serve. There is plenty of parking and an outside restroom facility if you have to go, but for food I am pretty sure almost anywhere else in Lampasas would be better.

The BBQ is very tough & dry, and tasted old. It may have a nice location, but leaves a whole lot to be desired. It's a place I won't go back to.
