My wife and I spent one night at The Resurgence in December 2012 and had a wonderfully enjoyable (but all too brief - due to my poor itinerary planning) stay. The friendliness of Peter and Clare made us feel extremely welcome. Pre-dinner interactions, over wine and appetizers, with the other guests was delightful, as was the conversation during a fabulously prepared evening meal. The food, room, and tranquility of the lodge's setting were outstanding. Staying at The Resurgence is a lovely experience not to be missed!

Very rare mix of the privacy of a separate cabin with the perfect comfort of a hotel. Clare and Peter were always there for a chat when we needed them and we could be perfectly alone when it suited us. Just the birds and amazing views for company. The massages and reflexology were top standard, too. Don't miss it if you find a space - it was the most relaxing part of our entire trip.

We spent three nights in one of the cottages at Resurgence in April of 2013. This is a small, very high quality "Eco Lodge" that gave us an opportunity to experience New Zealand's nature and hospitality. The property is lovely as are the owners Clare and Peter. They worked very hard to make us comfortable. The property is located in a lush valley rich with vegetation about 20 minutes drive from the entry point to Abel Tasman National Park.

Our cottage was simple but well appointed, very clean and comfortable. The rate included a continental breakfast that was stocked in our kitchenette daily.

The proprietors offer a dinner service served in the main lodge which we enjoyed our first evening to get "the lay of the land". The food was delicious and accompanied by one of New Zealand's many fine wines.

Sleeping was restful as the valley in which the property is located is so quiet, and the is no ambient light so the stargazing was fantastic.

Peter and Clare are dedicated to their guest's enjoyment and it certainly shows. I strongly recommend the Resurgence to all that appreciate quality accommodations in a beautiful setting.

We stayed two nights in a separate cabin, which had a detached bathroom for that extra bush and bath experience. Peter and Clare are friendly hosts who offer excelent local wines and nicely cooked food. Part of the pleasure of these lodges is the company of the other guests and the ways in which the hosts facilitate conversation. Peter and Clare excel at this and made our stay more of a "country house weekend" than a hotel stay. The trip to the Resurgence of the Riwaka river is well worth the walk, or short drive. This is a magical spot, the waters emerging from their journey through the caves or the mountain to the deep crystal pool, which is sacred to the local Maori as having healing and fertility properties, for women. The setting is very peaceful and the Abel Tasman park just a short drive away. This is NZ at its best.

I would highly recommend The Resurgence. The breathtaking views and fantastic walks are just two reasons to come and stay. The accommodation was wonderful, so peaceful and very very comfortable, everything seems to have been though of, we stayed in one of the self contained villas which were lovely. It linked in well with our 3-day Abel Tasman Kayaking Trip. With perfect hosts and amazing food, we could not have asked for any more, thank you!

If you are looking for that special somewhere to escape to I would highly recommend the Resurgence. Stunning views of native bush at the head of the Riwaka valley can be seen from your private chalet balcony; there are nature trails around the property to explore; waking to the sound of native birds in the morning and delicious fresh home made bread, and a wonderful pool area and spa to relax in at the end of the day. Clare and Peter were exceptional hosts and dedicated to re-establishing the native flora and fauna around their property. It is obvious that they love their little slice of paradise and enjoy sharing it! We will definitely be getting back there again soon!

We stayed here for two nights before and one night after a three day adventure in Abel Tasman National Park. Our hosts, Peter and Claire, could not have been more welcoming. We stayed in a bush chalet. All the chalets are sited so that guests have a great deal of privacy. We were surrounded by lush forest, with the only sounds being raucous Kea birds and cows mooing far in the distance. Our chalet was very cleverly laid out, with a nice sitting area as well as a mini kitchen. There is also a gas grill for every unit, so that if you don't feel like eating at the lodge (and you should at least once - Claire is an excellent chef!) you can easily prepare a nice meal for yourself. I highly recommend this lodging for those wanting a private, cozy getaway.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the smaller chalets with just a shower, no tub, and it was perfectly comfortable...
