During a recent business trip to Lubbock, my wife and I spent four enjoyable days and three comfortable nights at Lubbock's Comfort Suites. From our initial "Welcome" by Jennifer and the wonderful bag of treats she had for us because I am an "Elite Member" of the "Choice Priveleges Rewards Program" to our final farewells and "see you again" comments shared with Erika and Sherrie, we greatly enjoyed our stay at this Comfort Suites.
The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, except for dated carpets that showed many signs of wear. It included two queen beds; a separate work desk; counters that contained storage space, a small refrigerator, and a microwave; and a separate sitting area with a very comfortable loveseat. In addition to a fully equipped regular bathroom, the room had a second sink area outside the bathroom. My only complaint with the bathroom was that the light and fan were on the same switch; one could not turn on the light without also turning on the fan. Most bathrooms at comparable quality establishments have separate switches for the light and the fan. I was also impressed with the number of electrical outlets available to guests and am almost certain that the room contained more outlets than any hotel/motel/suite room I have ever stayed in.
This Comfort Suites also has a great business center with two computers and two printers, a guest laundry, and other "extras" for guests to enjoy. Unfortunately, it does not have a whirlpool or exercise room. Also, the swimming pool is an outdoor one very near the entrance to the "check-in area." When covered with a tarp during the winter season, it provides guests with a negative "first impression" of this Comfort Suites.
Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast that included a wide variety of hot and cold food items as well as a wide selection of "Breakfast Beverages." Food was plentiful and served in a clean and spacious dining area that each morning had a beautiful fire in the room's fireplace. As a special treat, guests are provided copies of "USA Today" on a daily basis to read during breakfast and then take with them.
On weekdays, this Comfort Suites has a "Manager's Reception" from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The reception includes a nice variety of snacks as well as beer, wine, and soft drinks. We enjoyed the nightly reception and even planned one day so that we had a large, late lunch and, instead of having dinner, enjoyed an extended stay at the reception.
For about $80.00 a night, we were provided with a comfortable, nicely furnished room, had a three delicious breakfasts, enjoyed the nightly "Manager's Reception," and were able to use the Comfort Suites' computer and printer on a regular basis. Most of all, we enjoyed the staff at this Comfort Suites. We saw and interacted with Erika, Jennifer, Matthew, and Sherrie on a frequent basis during our four day, three night stay. Each of them, as well as all other members of the staff, were personable, professional, and did everything possible to make sure our stay with them was a most enjoyable one.
After staying at 8-10 medium priced ($75.00 to $125.00) hotels, motels, suites... in Lubbock, the Comfort Suites on South Loop 289 has become our favorite place to stay in Lubbock. We will return there on a regular basis. For TripAdvisor travelers seeking a moderately priced room with many extras and a customer-friendly staff, I highly recommend a stay at this Comfort Suites.
