“A Great Stay in Lubbock”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

During a recent business trip to Lubbock, my wife and I spent four enjoyable days and three comfortable nights at Lubbock's Comfort Suites. From our initial "Welcome" by Jennifer and the wonderful bag of treats she had for us because I am an "Elite Member" of the "Choice Priveleges Rewards Program" to our final farewells and "see you again" comments shared with Erika and Sherrie, we greatly enjoyed our stay at this Comfort Suites.

The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, except for dated carpets that showed many signs of wear. It included two queen beds; a separate work desk; counters that contained storage space, a small refrigerator, and a microwave; and a separate sitting area with a very comfortable loveseat. In addition to a fully equipped regular bathroom, the room had a second sink area outside the bathroom. My only complaint with the bathroom was that the light and fan were on the same switch; one could not turn on the light without also turning on the fan. Most bathrooms at comparable quality establishments have separate switches for the light and the fan. I was also impressed with the number of electrical outlets available to guests and am almost certain that the room contained more outlets than any hotel/motel/suite room I have ever stayed in.

This Comfort Suites also has a great business center with two computers and two printers, a guest laundry, and other "extras" for guests to enjoy. Unfortunately, it does not have a whirlpool or exercise room. Also, the swimming pool is an outdoor one very near the entrance to the "check-in area." When covered with a tarp during the winter season, it provides guests with a negative "first impression" of this Comfort Suites.

Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast that included a wide variety of hot and cold food items as well as a wide selection of "Breakfast Beverages." Food was plentiful and served in a clean and spacious dining area that each morning had a beautiful fire in the room's fireplace. As a special treat, guests are provided copies of "USA Today" on a daily basis to read during breakfast and then take with them.

On weekdays, this Comfort Suites has a "Manager's Reception" from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The reception includes a nice variety of snacks as well as beer, wine, and soft drinks. We enjoyed the nightly reception and even planned one day so that we had a large, late lunch and, instead of having dinner, enjoyed an extended stay at the reception.

For about $80.00 a night, we were provided with a comfortable, nicely furnished room, had a three delicious breakfasts, enjoyed the nightly "Manager's Reception," and were able to use the Comfort Suites' computer and printer on a regular basis. Most of all, we enjoyed the staff at this Comfort Suites. We saw and interacted with Erika, Jennifer, Matthew, and Sherrie on a frequent basis during our four day, three night stay. Each of them, as well as all other members of the staff, were personable, professional, and did everything possible to make sure our stay with them was a most enjoyable one.

After staying at 8-10 medium priced ($75.00 to $125.00) hotels, motels, suites... in Lubbock, the Comfort Suites on South Loop 289 has become our favorite place to stay in Lubbock. We will return there on a regular basis. For TripAdvisor travelers seeking a moderately priced room with many extras and a customer-friendly staff, I highly recommend a stay at this Comfort Suites.

Room Tip: This Comfort Suites does not have an elevator. Guests who would use an elevator will want to reserve...

We had a great experience with this hotel! We booked four rooms at late notice and the the ladies at the front desk, Sherrie Morris and Erika Castellaw, went out of their way to make us comfortable! We enjoyed the breakfast and the happy hour. Everything was very clean and professional! We will be glad to go back to this hotel on our next trip to Lubbock!

The staff including Asst General Manager was very helpful and professional. Despite having my truck broken into, if stay there again. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable. Request first floor, no elevator. Nice fireplace aroma in lobby during icy cold weather.

Recently had a wedding to attend and put several family members at same hotel. This particular Comfort Suites has 2 floors and no elevator. When we explained that a member of our family could not do stairs, Sherrie Morris, the Guest Service Coordinator made the necessary changes with not problem whatsoever. In fact, Sherrie was excellent in taking care of all of our needs. She was friendly, funny, warm and made us feel like we were at home. The entire staff was excellent. We really enjoyed Erica and her personal touch. She and Sherrie both are hard workers, but do it with a smile, laugh and attitude that makes you feel important. I might add that the weekend we stayed was a home football game for Texas Tech University, so the place was really busy and the staff could have been stressed and rude, but not here. The staff and service are the reason we will come back again and recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: Ask for 1st floor if you can't do stairs. All rooms are very quite even thought a major freeway...

The room was clean and well presented. The breakfast facilities were great and very tastefully presented. The food was warm and continually replenished. I would recommend this location and facility to anyone intending to spend a night in Lubbock. It is good value for the money. My only complaint with hotels of this style of late is the ridiculous little pillows that are provided, but that alone could not remove a merit rating from us.

Room Tip: If, you are like me and hate the small pillows that are now in use in most of these 3* hotels, then...

A big negative right off the bat, no elevators. I was able to change to a first floor room. This property is worn out. The furniture and walls are scratched and damaged and the carpet is in horrible condition with multiple wear spots and holes. The bathroom door had been replaced by some random door. With such a worn out room it doesn't feel clean but I think the room was reasonably clean. The beds were not made up crisply but upon close inspection they seemed to have fresh sheets. A complimentary breakfast was offered but I did not try it. The location is a positive. there are too many nearby retaurants and a mall to list, all within walking distance. I stayed here because of price but next time I'll pay whatever it takes for a nicer hotel. There are many nearby hotel options.

Room Tip: Be sure to stay on the first floor, there are no elevators.
