“very interesting”

all kinds of windmills and power systems from water to MegaWatt units of today. Enjoyed seeing the many windmills in operation outside and getting up close to the 1.5Megwatt unit outside.

“Everything you never knew about windmills and more!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We visited American Wind Power Center for the first time and enjoyed it a lot (at least my husband and I did.) There are so many different types of wind mills and they have them all. The indoor display is great with lots to read about each one, along with history and location many were first used. We spent over an hour there, but could have made it longer if we had the time. Our 2 teenagers were with us and they could have cared less, but that's the way they are with everything that isn't their idea. Some might have an interest. There is also a large room with an amazing mural that is worth spending time looking at. Very neat place, something to learn about, and not a typical museum.

“Don't Miss This”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

This museum has over 100 windmills indoors. There are more outdoors and they just got a permit to add on to the building. The nice lady at the desk said that when the new construction is finished there will be about 300 windmills in their buidlings. Most of the windmills have been completely restored. They are well labeled and there is an explanation of the significance or uniqueness of each.

“Unique & Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

OK, Lubbock is not a major tourist destination. However, if you are there, do not miss the American Wind Power Museum. Windmills are a feature of the landscape in this part of Texas and this museum tells the story. There is a lot of ingenuity and variety in windmills. Who knew? We arrived before the museum opened because there is plenty to see in the field in front of the museum. When an employee arrived she offered to open the museum early so we could see the wonders inside. Windmills are part of American history and you should take the time to see this unique museum.
