“Don't Blink, May Miss it!”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

Ok... So this was never on my radar of things to do and in fact, I have been to Fredericksburg numerous times and didn’t even know it was close by. Yes, I’ve heard the song, but Luckenbach doesn’t come up on the top 10 things to do in Texas (or top 100). I went because the friends we were with had to go there, so we did. We got there around 10am. Really no one there. A lot of campers near by. They were gearing up for some big concert that night (Saturday). The main attraction is the Post Office from the 1850’s. This place is jammed with souvenirs. If you go towards the back, you will find the bar. That place had a lot of history all over the walls. Linda was the “bartender”, she was very nice. I had to have a beer (seemed fitting), so we all did. The whole place is an antique, from the antique wood stove (it was putting out some much needed heat!) to the pictures and memorabilia. We walked around with the loose chickens, checked out the dance hall, stage and overall area. Got our pics and left, 30 minutes at most. I guess this is off the bucket list I didn’t know I had, lol.

“bucket list stop”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

trying to squeeze all texas has to offer in a short trip is hard. texas is huge and offers so much. However, this is definitely worth the effort if your into classic texas, country music, cold beer and a relaxed atmosphere. we stopped on a rainy tuesday morning, just as they were opening, and as soon as we walked in it felt like a friday night at any other bar. super friendly staff, ice cold beer and laid back country pickers having a "jam session" in the back/bar area. the two super friendly and welcoming bar cats are a nice touch as are the countless items of memorabilia on the walls from the past 50 years of country music. never had so much fun on a rainy weekday morning. Willie Nelson hosted his annual fourth of July picnic here for years and its easy to see why and I can only imagine how awesome they must've been. And don't forget the man who made it possible, Hondo Crouch...

“A Morsel of Authentic Texas”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

Yes, it's just a morsel, not a full meal, but WHAT a morsel it is. You drive out and can almost blink and miss it except for all the signs. But once you park and amble over, you see people sitting on a big ole steer, and hear the twangs of some real Texas honky tonk, and take a whiff of some barbecue and you are charmed.

Almost every night of the week and over the weekend, there is live music and it's obvious that Luckenbach has become a go-to destination of locals and tourists alike. We were just there on a Friday afternoon in January with our dog and we enjoyed our brief visit. We did end up buying a very cute doggie bandanna which we put on her as we sashayed up Main Street in Fredericksburg later; she was the best dressed dog ever.

“10 minute stop”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

Interesting that a song has made this one-horse town that's not even on a highway a must-see place. We stopped very briefly toward evening on a cold January day just to say we had been there and took our picture in front of the store. No music or anything going on, but a few of "the boys" were in the bar. A fun stop, and not too many miles off the track. We then kept going on this back highway back to San Antonio and got a real taste of the Hill Country. Beautiful!
