“Charming and nicely appointed.”
Reviewed 28 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Clean.Charming.Comfortable and cozy. Took my 89 year old Mother, and 14 year old daughter there for star gazing and a meteor shower. It was splendid. Living room furniture is brand new, stylish and comfortable with good lamps to read by. Bedrooms could use better reading lamps. Matresses appear to be new and on the firm side. Upstairs bedroom took awhile to cool off even in October, so start the AC early. Nothing beats hanging on the front porch being serenaded by very vocal coyotes. Appreciated the historical info scattered throughout the house. Happened to stop by an old cemetary on the way out of town, and was pleasantly surprised to see the Hasse headstones. Told them we thoroughly enjoyed their lovely homestead. Highly recommended.

“Hasse house”
Reviewed 14 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Pros: The history and style of the house and the furniture was really interesting, everything had a story. House was cozy and the location beautiful! Loved the porch swing and solitude very peaceful! Beds were comfy, lots of room for our family of 6 to visit and get ready for a wedding. Would stay again despite the cons, uniqueness and beauty made it worth the stay.

Cons: Completely blackout dark at night. Do not stay here if you can't locate it in the daytime. My husband had to drive to the road so I could find it. There are no lights there or at the church across the street at night you will not be able to see the church or the gate at night to navigate landmarks. We killed a small snake and a scorpion in he kitchen... it is the country. Upstairs was too hot to sleep at 11:00 at night, but it eventually cooled down at some point.

“Amazing and interesting place to stay!”

This German style rock house, built in the 1880s, has wonderful, thick (my husband says 18 inches, I say 24 inches thick) exterior walls and one similar interior wall. There is a bedroom with one full bed downstairs and a second bedroom with two full beds upstairs. There is a bathroom on each floor. It does have wifi and satellite television, but my husband and I were not able to get a cell connection. Our son, who visited with us from Austin on Saturday did get a connection on his phone. Frankly, we appreciated the peace of no cell phone ringing! We both have high-stress jobs and rarely a day goes by without multiple "critical" calls, so it was nice not to be interrupted by them. The house is furnished with period pieces but does boast a flat-screen TV--albeit rather small--and a fairly well equiped modern kitchen, although the cabinets are very dated. The walls are adorned with multiple newspaper articles that tell some of the history of both the house and the area. Please understand, the bathrooms are somewhat rustic, with tiny showers and dated vanities, but everything works. At night, we went outside and were thrilled with the sky view! The full moon was not yet up, so we could see just an incredible number of stars. It is also conveniently located to Mason and topaz-hunting grounds, Fredericksburg, and Enchanted Rock. Highly recommend staying here!

“The Hasse House is an Excellent Getaway in Central Texas”
Reviewed 30 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The Hasse House is located just outside of Mason, Texas. It is an excellent getaway for just about any occasion. This is a Texas historical site that is family operated by some really great folks. The house is well furnished and has a great view of the surrounding area.
