Historic Downtown McKinney

I live in McKinney but have traveled through other small towns and they fall short to McKinney,'s downtown. Downtown has history but also has new attractions especially in the food department. It offers nostalgic candy shops, made from scratch pies, antique malls, boutique shops, bike shops and an assortment of restaurants. You can have hamburgers at Square Burger, a cold beer and beer food at The Pub, brick oven pizza at the Cadillac or Mellow Mushroom. Great steaks at Ricks Chophouse, Mexican cuisine with a modern flare at Salsa. You can also find small coffee shops like Snug where they serve breakfast and lunch. Every weekend you can here live music at the Landon's Winery or at Cafe Malaga. The square is definitely a family destination but also offers great atmosphere for groups of people who want to spend a night out on the town.

Downtown McKinney is very picturesque, with nice shops, coffee places and a welcoming small town atmosphere. We happened to be there on the weekend of their annual art fair which was a hoot. All types of local artists and craftspeople. Locals were very helpful in suggesting restaurants for later in the evening. You could eve have your photo taken with Lance the Lemur who was so cute and friendly. A great way to spend a Saturday.

Lots of shops and places to eat. Very cool area. Some great antique shops. Breakfast at Spoons is great on the weekends.

This quaint, historic square had everything. Food, shopping, and we even attended a small car show Saturday morning. The Visitor's Center was the best to get information and buy a McKinney T-Shirt. The lady working there was very kind and helpful.
