“Very nice business meeting at te Margi”
Reviewed 23 May 2013 via mobile

Very nice hotel with great service especially the nice concierges, which were very helpful. I conducted a 3 day business meeting here and the facilities and rooms were very pleasant. So I recommend warmly the margi and hope to come back one time.
By the way: The center of Athens though is approximately 30min away.

The Margi is a very tasteful hotel, when entering the hotel is beautifully decorated with golden walls, crystal and candles everywhere. Exceptionally pretty when you arrive.

The rooms are spacious, well appointed and very modern (especially by Greek standards). The pool area is very small and has limited sun-beds. So if you love poolside relaxation you might be tight for space (I imagine in high-season it could get crowded).

Breakfast is perfectly adequate, nothing spectacular but fresh and tasty. The staff are attentive, but we did have to ask for more coffee a few times.

The area is very quiet, not many restaurants on the doorstep. You have to walk about 10-15min into the Vouliagmeni square to find a selection of cafes, bars and restaurants - even then it's pretty limited. We ate at Xasos grill and Loizidis Teverna both across the road from each other and both reasonably priced and good greek food. There are 2 frozen youghurt shops in the square and some chic bars too.

The only negative is that the hotel staff were a little 'snobish', for example we are happy to take the bus to the nearest town (glyfadia) but the hotel staff frowned when we asked an insisted we took a taxi. There was a 6euro charge added to the taxi cost for the hotel calling the taxi for us - which just annoyed us.

If you are like us and are happy to get a bus, the buses are so simple but you have to get a ticket from the kiosk in the central square for about 1.5euros and board the buses which run every 10min to the centre of glyfadia. You can also get the bus to the airport from the centre of glyfadia for about 5euros (80euro taxi from the hotel!).

Would recommend if you want a romantic quiet weekend away, very chic but just be aware it's a quiet area to stay in and you'll need to travel to find some life!

Attended a conference in Vouliagmeni and the conference hotel was full; how lucky were we. The Margi is delightful, rooms airy, clean and well appointed. We held a couple of lunches and whilst the food is international; it is excellent our guests were very impressed. The porters go out of their way to help recommending venues, ordering cabs etc.

Yes there was some improvements being carried out around the pool; but such works have to be carried out at some time; didn't impact on our enjoyment. The pool area is small, but more than adequate. the outside dining areas are hedged with Jasmine; heavenly smell at breakfast and dinner.

I would definitely return and bring the family for some sun, beach and the delights of Athens.

Room Tip: we had 6 rooms and all were good

This hotel is comfortable and situated perfectly for a stroll to the beautiful beaches. The staff are very friendly and speak good english.Breakfast was a joy served around the small pool or open dining area. The porter takes care of your car parking as this was essential. We ate just once in the restaurant, the menu was small but international, more local choice would have been nice.
Alot of corporate business takes place here, I felt that the holiday guests were very slightly in 2nd place. For a relaxing holiday perfect.

great reviews previously on TA suggested we were in for a great trip -
in many ways the hotel was good - location - stylish - good service was all in evidence
my concerns related to the room quality - we booked a superior room which was small - reasonably well appointed but bathroom tiny -useless small bath and shower that lacked power and soaked the floor as not positioned correctly
average buffet breakfast with only last day seeing improvement with chef on hand
pool tiny - only 12 sunbeds in total and completely out of sun after 4pm( go to gym at rear of hotel for loungers )
work to pool area two days noisy and distracting and spoilt our relaxation completely

staff good and very helpful but couldnt hide our disappointment that the hotel didnt quite live up to its billings

Room Tip: even number rooms at back of hotel have sun on balconies in the afternoon

... which is probably not the description I thought i would be writing when we booked the Margi. There are some really good points - the staff, the beds, location, food in the restaurants. But there are also quite a few compromises. We stayed in a executive room (One up from standard) and the bathroom is really small and tired looking. Only enough room for one person at any time. Also, not sure why they bothered with the bath - it's about a meter in length. Might as well just have a walk-in shower. They also seem to be tight on bathroom accessories - we had to ask for more soap etc... I know it sounds a bit trivial but small details are important for a so called small luxury hotel. We stayed for five nights and after a couple of days sightseeing the delights of Athens, we decided to have room service. On both occasions we had to send part of the meal back - the staff sorted the problems really quickly and were apologetic but.... The pool area is really nice and we managed to get on the cabanas a couple of times which was great - however there seemed to be a lack of sun loungers and the hotel was not that busy. Perhaps they put more out in high season. final point. They also forgot to service our room on one occasion...

Overall, having stayed in SLH before, this one does not quite hit the mark. However, these are definitely things they can put right.

Stayed there for a week and absolutely loved the breakfast buffet and sitting by the pool in the morning for breakfast and for cocktails at night time. Quiet and stylish and very clean rooms!Good service and right next to the beach! Would recommend!
