I planned to stay 7 days but stayed 16. That alone should say something. The hotel is modern, well appointed,, clean, well staffed and comfortable. There are 2 very good restaurants at the seaside. The beach is close enough at about 50 yards walk. Breakfast is ample with a wide variety. I intend to stay again next summer.

Room Tip: All rooms java a good view.

We had to book a last minute hotel for a short stay near Glyfada and we came across Amarilia. We booked through booking.com and got a get deal - just 76 euro per night. Although I found it on tripadvisor, I was still a little concerned due to the low price and the fact that Greek hotels generally don't offer a great value for money. We ended up being very pleased with our choice, I'd definitely recommend it!

Let me start by saying what this hotel is NOT - it is not a luxurious fancy place. If you want luxury, this place is not for you. I don't understand the people complaining that the furniture looked cheap and so forth. They need to adjust their expectations to a realistic level, this hotel offers more than a great value for money!

Service:
When it comes to service, this is among my best hotel experiences!
Everyone is so friendly, always smiling, always trying to make small talk. We arrived at 1 am and check-in took less than a minute. Nothing here is a big deal, they have a "can-do" attitude about everything. Everyone speaks good English.

Location:
Excellent location: the beach is just across the road, Vouliagmeni is a nice upscale neighborhood, it is an oasis of calm in the madness that's Athens. Glyfada is a short car ride away - the place where all the action happens (great restaurants, Bouzoukia Clubs and beach bars).

Internet
I was really surprised to find out that the Internet is not only free, but also very fast and reliable. I had video chats on skype without any problems! If the Internet is essential for you, Amarilia is a great choice, because believe it or not, finding good service in Greek hotels is not that common!

Room:
The room is nice and clean, very spacious and bright (perhaps also due to the light color of the furniture). It is not fancy, the furniture may look cheap, as other reviewers have already stated. However, it is new and tastefully done, so the end result is good. We got a room on the 6th floor with amazing sea view, try and catch the sunset, it's worth it. The bathroom is small but clean. I didn't really like the towels and the sheets - they were a bit worn down. There is a fridge in the room, but it was empty. The walls are a bit thin and I could hear my neighbor's phone ringing.

Breakfast:
Little variety, but that may be due to the fact that I got there at 9:30 (it ends at 10). There is a generous choice of coffee though and it was nice.

Guests:
Mostly Western European. I noticed during breakfast that most people were British, Dutch or German. There was also an Italian wedding. This hotel seems oriented towards mid-aged couples and business people.

All in all, it is a good place, you do get what you pay for and much more. I'll certainly stay here next time I'm in town.

Room Tip: Opt for a sea view and higher floor

I have had organized a business event in Vari and our delegates have been staying in Amarillia for 3 nights. A very relaxing and pleasant stay only a minute walk from the beach. Staff members are very friendly. Breakfast was very good . The breakfast room was a bit too cold due to the airconditioning. A good location outside the city centre of Athens.

Congratultions to hotel Amarilia for all its services during our 2-day conference on September. The last 4 years, our company organizes at Amarilia the conferences for which we host a 2-day overnight stay in the hotel for about 60 guests and of course we offer them in the hotel meals, dinner, coffee breaks. The luxury of the hotel focuses on the kindness and the absolute professionalism of the staff in all the departments and more specific: a) the reception staff is always smiling and kind and the speed of their services really suprises whether it matters rooms or....photocopies needs. b) the food section always sutisfies in the best way all of our desires. The quality and the quantity of the food is just splendid and cannot compare with dishes that we face often in other similar places. Impeccable service and attentive environment. c)the rooms are nice decorated, large enough, neat, clean, with comfortable beds and the sea view of them is so nice that in other hotels you pay it X3. d)the rate for the rooms, food, coffee breaks although that is within 1 minute walking distance from a wonderful beach is affordable and reasonable. e) in their conference rooms we can find everything we need to have a succeed and well organized meeting. Sure we can find many others conference rooms in Athens, either in larger hotels with more stars or smaller ones, but in hotel Amarilia the ultimate professional service which always combined with sincere smiling faces, very good amenities and services always covering our needs and not only we complete successfully our meetings but also our guests are calm and happy. All the above make us for 4 years now to continue to visit hotel Amarilia for our conferences and not to look for something else. Congratulations to all of the staff and of course to the management of of the hotel for their efforts.

My partner and I stayed in Amarilia for one night by the sea in Athens. We also attended a wedding reception there on a separate occasion. On both occasions we were pretty disappointed with this hotel, which is very average to poor for its price range. We paid for our room 115 euros booking online during September time (we booked a superior room with sea views). The only good thing about the room were indeed the sea views, which were great. But the room itself was disappointing: its aesthetics were old and tired, the furniture and decoration looked cheap, the towels were thin and worn, and there were no toiletries. The open-air swimming pool is on the ground floor and has no views. It's a small and pretty basic swimming pool, and the yard it is in is not at all inspiring. Breakfast was plentiful with great choice, but the quality of the food was very average. There was some nice yogurt with a choice of grains, muesli, honey and jams, but the pastries were really greasy and the eggs tasted awful. I have stayed at many much better hotels for the same or slightly better price. On the other hand the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and well presented, and the hotel staff polite and helpful. Still you expect something better for this price. Our experience from the wedding reception was also average: the room was well presented but very crowded, with tables too close to each other, poor quality sound and an average buffet. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel unless you can get in for a better price than we did.

Room Tip: The superior rooms are worth the extra cost for the views, as that's the only good thing about t...

Very nice location. And friendly staff members.
The breakfast was also good for the price.
I had a pleasant stay in this hotel.
There is a pool or you can walk to the beach( 1 minute walk) for a swim.

I arranged some business meetings here recently and was impressed by how well set up it was for meetings and conferences, and was also very pleased with the location - outside the city centre, on the beach, it provided a lovely relaxing environment for everyone.

Room Tip: Try to get a sea view if you can - wireless is stronger the closer you are to the ground/1st floor...
