Holiday Inn Express Madrid-Alcorcon
Ranked #4 of 5 Hotels in Alcorcon
Reviewed 1 March 2011

The hotel is a Holiday Express standard - with clean rooms, standard buffet breakfast and average staff. It is far from the Madrid proper - Alcorcon is for all purposes a separate town, though connected to the city by train and metro lines.
There's a mall about 10 minutes walk to the north where you can buy some food and a fridge with a built-in TV screen.
Would I recommend this place? If you're trying to do Madrid sightseeing, then no. Find something more close to the city center. For other purposes... Well, this is a nice place.
Ah, and breakfasts can be noisy in the summer, since many people with little kids seem to be staying here.

With HIEx you know pretty much what you get. This one is above average. The staff are great, the bar/breakfast area is large. A not too pleasant 5 minute walk (the hotel is built inside a motorway on/off ramp area, but not noisy) gets you to Tres Aguas leisure/shopping complex that has some excellent bars and restaurants. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the Alcorcon Central Cercania train stop or a cheap taxi ride if you have bags.

Had booked this hotel for 4 nights advance purchase rate for my family. The hotels advertisement says it is only '10 mins' by train from the centre of Madrid.
This is a full out lie it takes over an hour.
The hotel itself is clean however its in the most awful location in the middle of a horrid industrial area. I have never seen such a bad breakfast the cereal was even stale!
We ended up checking out, losing our money and paying for another hotel in town.
If you are driving somewhere long distance and need only a bed this is the hotel for you but beware do NOT book if you are planning on sightseeing Madrid! Poor form Holiday Inn false advertising...

If you want to stay here, you'd better be driving or be prepared to catch a taxi often. It's really near to the metro station, but you'll have to switch trains at least once (from Metro Sud to one of the "central" lines) and getting to the center of Madrid will take you about an hour. It can be a problem especially if you intended to do some late-night partying in the city, as the tube stops running before the real nightlife even starts (though it is perfectly okay for Corrida or Flamenco shows).

Also, the hotel location - basically in the middle of a freeway interchange - makes it a bit inaccessible without a car. Well, that is unless you've had a Moscow or Cairo pedestrian training, in which case you'll cope with that easily.

The hotel seems to be a favorite not only of the businessmen - in August it was full of young Spanish and Portugese couples with small children. Which is nice, but a bit noisy, especially at late breakfast time.

The rooms are very nice, modern and clean. The staff is friendly and usually speaks a number of languages. However, they couldn't fix our problem with partially-defunct air conditioning for three days, which can make an otherwise pleasant stay a real nightmare.

Oh, on a positive side, you can easily catch a bus from here to the nearby Air Force Museum! Don't ask for the directions at the hotel, though...

the holiday inn express was a wronge decision on my part for a honeymoon stay. its is located on the suburb of madrid mostly a business hotel ment for business travellers. the hotel per say is really good with all amenities one would want. the best part about the hotel is that the metro station is a 5-7 mins walk from the hotel. the hotel only serves breakfast all other meals have to be had outside. there is a pub cum diner just next to the hotel premises though. it also has a huge mall again 10 mins walking distance from the hotel. the rooms are quite spacious and very very comfortable.if you are a business traveller this is the best place to stay as the prices are very very affordable.

We booked the hotel as a jumping off point for our honeymoon throughout Spain (more hotel reviews to follow). The hotel is situated in a southwest suburb of Madrid and is accessible without driving through the chaos of city streets.

The building was located off the A-5. We had a room facing the highway, but noise from the highway was neglible. The room had a very clean, Ikea-ish modern feel to it. The bathroom was tiled and very bright and modern.

The staff at the hotel were professional and spoke pretty good English, the breakfast in the morning was decent. Next to the hotel was a resteraunt that served some of the best paella we found during our two weeks.

The only issue was the hotel's information says they are within walking distance of a metro station, and they are. But you have to brave a busy-as-hell four lane road to get to it, they cross a roundabout. We managed, but it was hairy a few times.
