Camping Internacional Aranjuez
Reviewed 10 September 2013

First I have to say that we are Dutch and I have discovered a lot of differences between the Dutch and th Spanish. We needed to go to bed early (22.00) and get up early (7.00). The Spanish, we noticed, do it differently. When we go to bed they go and have dinner and the children stay up at least until midnight. And therefor the camping arranges a disco for children every night from 22.00 to 24.00 hours. Children are running, yelling, screaming and riding their bikes until very late. So it's difficult to have some sleep until 24.00 hours. On the other hand, in the mornings it is nice and quiet because everyone wakes up late. After a week of staying on this camping with lack of sleep we had enough of all the noise and we were happy to leave again. Don't get me wrong the camping itself is very nice and clean (except for women smoking in the toilet) but the noise we didn't like.

We stayed at this site from 3rd to 11th September. The site is beautifully clean, good size pitches, beautiful mature trees in a quiet location....that's if you don't go there when the local feria is on! We had five nights of shockingly interrupted sleep as the feria ground is directly accross the river!
Apart from that, the staff on reception were very polite and helpful. Some of the toilet blocks are more modern than others but all the facilites were very clean. The mini market on site has lovely fresh bread and all the other basics you need.
The site advertises the swimming pool as heated but it most deffinately wasn't! Absoloutely freezing! We also rented bicycles from reception and they were awful and dangerous (buckled wheels and non working breaks) thankfully they didn't turn up on our invoice. If they had, we would not have paid for them!
The onsite restaurant menu looked good and varied although we only had bar snacks that were very good value. The restaurant gets packed on a Sunday lunchtime.
A previous reviewer said it was a short walk to the train station but it is not. It would take a good 30/40 mins. It was a 15 minute drive in light trafic. But the trains to Madrid (Cercanias) go every 20/30 mins and take 40 mins to the center (Puerta del Sol) of Madrid for 7 euro return. Great value.
We will be visiting this sight again next year, BUT NOT IN THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER!

Large pitches and very clean showers. Small restaurant and shop on site. Short walk via park to the palace and rail station for the train into Madrid.
Very quiet late July early August.
Staff at reception very helpful and spoke excellent English

The nightwatchman allowed a worker to bring in a car at 7 a.m. but would not allow us to leave; his attitude was rude and arrogant (we speak Spanish).
Hardly any shade, swimming pool awfully small for the number of campers/guests.
