“Good Location & Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

A reasonably frequent visitor to this hotel situated outside Madrid but next to the train station so very convenient if required. Always clean and friendly, English spoken. Do not always eat here for dinner but it is adequate none the less.
Plenty of choice for breakfast and taxi service right outside. Very good value for money considering its location.

Hotel Quo Fierro
This is a really nice medium sized hotel in the Tres Cantos district of Madrid. It was convenient for the Cantoblanco Universidad where I was heading. Everything about it is clean and modern and it has a nice ambience. The rooms have plenty of artificial lighting (lack of which is often a complaint of mine). My twin-bedded room had a good bathroom with bath and shower and everything was set out nicely. One little bugbear – my room was exceeding hot on arrival and it was difficult to regulate the room temperature. Television channels seemed to be exclusively in Spanish – but why shouldn’t they be, after all I was staying in Spain? The wireless internet (free) worked well.
The hotel is extremely close to the Renfe railway station, trains from which can quickly take you into the centre of Madrid. Reception was efficient, the buffet breakfast pleasant and with a reasonable variety of choices. As is often the case, the scrambled eggs failed the culinary pastiche of softness and a fluffy form, preferring to adopt the ‘carvable style’ – still this is the ultimate test of a fresh buffet, seldom achievable.
I was more than happy with this hotel and it rightly deserves a top rating.

Checked into this OVEN on 10th Jan and appeared to be the only people staying there. First night - no sleep. Saturday morning asked for air conditioning to be switched on - only set on "heating" at this time of the year so requested key to open window onto courtyard as room was soooo hot! Checked out on Monday - still no key after repeatedly asking for window to be opened. Suggestion: if guests want it warm, surely they can turn heat off as hotel is so warm, however, if they want it colder, they can use A/C? Simples Non?? The hotel was far too hot!! Chap on front desk looked like he was playing games on the computer and just wasn't interested! Specifically asked for room away from station - however could still hear the trains which meant no sleep…That said, hotel convenient for station to Madrid etc and Tres Cantos per se… but it is unbearably hot so be warned. Breakfast was poor on the Saturday morning - as we were the only two guests - no cooked food was put out - only Tortilla/cereal/bread etc. Sunday was different with the rugby team staying there - there was plenty of hot food to eat! Wifi is intermittent also. Would suggest staff are trained to be more helpful. EVERY guest is important.

Room Tip: Room as far away from railway station as possible/a room with a/c working.

I stayed at the Quo Fierro hotel for a week during a work trip in October.

It was recommended due to its proximity to the train station. There is a shop nearby and a 10 pass train ticket is only 10 Euro. It was one train to the university and it could take you to the city in 20 minutes.

The rooms were comfortable with a bar fridge. I don't recommend getting laundry done here as it is very expensive (100+Euro for a large load). We were a little naive and our Spanish wasn't great so we didn't realise we were paying to have our underwear dry cleaned.(our fault not theirs)

Breakfast was good and varied. Be sure to learn a little Spanish to get you by as not everyone speaks English (and why should they, after all it is their country :) )

If you stay here remember to plan your trains as it is expensive cab ride if you miss the last one from the city.

This is a very well priced hotel only 30 mins on the train from the centre of Madrid, the train station is literally next door. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was clean and comfortable with a very good breakfast included. There is a bar in the restaurant used for breakfast and food can be ordered. Complimentary items provided in the bathroom e.g. shampoo, soap, comb etc. there is a safe for valuables and TV with Sky news along with various Spanish stations. The air conditioning was very good, quiet and very useful as it was 30+ whilst we stayed. Tres Cantos is a nice place with some nice shops, cafeterias and bar/restaurants but just be aware many close by eleven so Madrid itself would be the place for a late night out.
You can get the train from the airport but it does mean a change so you might prefer a cab if you have a lot of luggage - it will cost approx. 35 euros and takes around twenty minutes depending on time of day and traffic.
By the way the hotel provides free wi-fi which is really good.
I would be happy to stay here again.

I slept in Quo Fierro 2 nights last October, because I had a meeting in Tres Cantos.
The hotel is near to the Barajas Airport and it's close to the Railway Station (about 30 minutes and you can stay in the Centre of Madrid, very cheap expense).
It's a good hotel, with normal rooms and free Wi fi connection.
The breakfast is very large, with salad and cakes.
The very interesting point is the price, really competitive!!!

I´ve stayed here many times and have always been totally satisfied, and impressed, by the hotel´s facilities, staff and ambience.

All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, even if they don´t speak English. The rooms are cleaned to a very high standard. The breakfast is served in a quiet, efficient room, the business news is played discreetly on a television in one area and coffee, tea, Colacao, cold and warm milk and cold and hot water, tortilla de patatas, tomate (for pan con tomate), embutidos, cheeses, cooked eggs, sausages and hot bacon, sliced fresh fruits (melon, pineapple, orange, grapefruit, kiwi, etc.), a large variety of breads (with a toaster) and pastries are laid out invitingly for self-service. Sometimes there are freshly made donuts or churros as well. I´ve invited guests to breakfast and they´ve always been really impressed by the quality of the food and the hotel´s ambience, very suited to a business meeting or just a relaxing start to the day as a couple or by one´s self.

The location of the hotel is great, next to Tres Cantos station where you can take a train to Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Sol or Atocha in central Madrid (plus other locations). The bus stop outside is for buses to Plaza Castilla in Madrid and to the rest of Tres Cantos. The PTM (Madrid technology park) is within easy walking distance, as is the shopping centre (large Carrefour, cinema, bowling, other shops and places to eat), various bars and restaurants and there is a Mercadona supermarket next door too. The beautiful, huge park in the middle of Tres Cantos is about 6 minutes´ walk from the hotel, here you can play padel, cycle, jog, use the outdoor gym facilities, sit by the lake or on the grass and use several different playgrounds if you have children.

The hotel has elevators and all of the rooms I´ve stayed in (standard rooms at the basic price) have been surprisingly large, with beds that are large and comfortable, fridges and safe boxes for no extra charge. The showers are simple to operate and the rooms and bathrooms are modern. As I said before the cleaners are thorough and leave the rooms spotless each day. Another plus for me is that they all have a window that opens so you can get fresh air. (The rooms are also air-conditioned). The rooms are extremely quiet so even though I´m a light sleeper I´ve always been able to rest or nap here at any free moment during the day.

In my opinion the hotel is well-priced at all times. As it caters to business travellers wishing to be close to the PTM, the prices to stay at the weekend are really reasonable.

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in all price ranges, but this is one I cannot recommend highly enough. It is truly relaxing to stay here, no matter how many meetings you have to endure during your business day or how difficult a deal you´re trying to strike with your client. Knowing you will be coming back to a hot shower, clean, quiet, air-conditioned room, comfy bed and delicious breakfast here with friendly, patient staff who are always ready to help with taxi bookings, questions about Madrid or Tres Cantos and even impromptu Spanish lessons. I even had an embarrassing problem once with a credit card that didn´t work and the staff put me at my ease immediately and helped to sort it all out, allowing me to leave without settling the bill (I did so via bank transfer from home a couple of days later, the hotel hadn´t hassled me at all).

If you are going to Tres Cantos (or the surrounding area) this is the wisest choice of hotel for anyone.
