“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

This was a thoroughly enjoyable first visit. The hotel, rooms and restaurant are all excellent, and the people both at the hotel and all over Bermuda are extremely friendly - even the passport/customs staff at the airport have a sense of humour. Weather in November was a bit variable - some days better than others - but that is to be expected. We had a massage in the Spa which was one of the best I have ever had, albeit pricey. The rooms are actually cottages spread over 30 acres of grounds so the elderly may find the walks to the restaurant etc. a bit of a problem but that is the closest I can come to finding a fault.

We traveled to The Cambridge Beaches resort Nov 2-8.
November was an iffy month in terms of weather, very windy,
Chilly ocean, but otherwise a nice, serene getaway!
We had a lovely cottage that was easily accessable to their beach, indoor and outdoor pools, restaurant. Staff was gracious, attentive and the cottages were very clean and well appointed with cozy robes, a dressing room/make up table/closeted area. Separate water closet, a jetted tub and separate shower were heavenly.
The indoor pool was beautiful with a Jacuzzi and lap pool, plenty of chaise lounges with comfy cushions and the availability to order drinks and snacks poolside. The plus side of having a resort that discourages young chidren, is that we didn’t have to deal with other folks screaming kiddos in the pool/Jacuzzi .The ‘gym’ was attached by French doors.
Our stay included an incredible breakfast buffet with options for individual orders for eggs benedict, omelet’s, etc and indoor or outdoor seating by the pool. Lovely! I was exceedingly happy with breakfast.
Dinner was served in the same dining room, usually very busy and required a reservation. The only down side was the limited choice for lunch/dinner options (only 1 restaurant) and the menu, which was limited and somewhat too eclectic. I consider myself to have a fairly sophisticated pallet, but I struggled to find a meal that was ‘wow’: presentation was lovely, staff attentive, but dinner itself was not memorable. We ventured out of the resort and walked for a meal at the Salt Rock one night which provided us with a fairly nice dinner.
We did make a trip to Hamilton via bus and ferry. Using the bus was a very economical way to see the island, but if you’re prone to being car sick, then one caveat:
The roads are like a rollercoaster, narrow with twists and turns and while the drivers are very kind and competent, it can be a bit unnerving. Lots of mopeds available as well. All in all, it was a nice trip, clean and relaxing.

The Cambridge Beaches offers a unique setting, with three beaches, two small beaches on one side of the ocean, and a longer (and the most stunning) beach on the other side. The waters are calm and clean, and marked by various shades of green and blue. But what stands out about the Cambridge Beaches is the first-class hospitality; your concerns are taken seriously, action is taken promptly, and you are treated in a manner that shows they feel you are a very important customer. They have three restaurants (one main restaurant, and two beach restaurants), and the main restaurant (the Tamerisk) offers various choices and a different menu every night; many of the dishes are quite unique, out of the ordinary. There are approximately four choices of appetizers, three soups and six entrees (varied, something for everyone) each evening. Service is like clockwork, although the last couple of nights of our stay it was a little sluggish at times due to an apparent influx of people. Breakfasts are great, with everything under the sun available. There is a lot to do on the property, including tennis, ping pong, a putting green, spa, yoga, internet service, a good-size library, and so forth, and everything is well situated, easy to get to. There obviously was a lot of thought given to the layout of the property, as it is uniquely and interestingly arranged. And it is beautiful also with its impressive variety of plants, flowers and trees. The views are fabulous from every vantagepoint. You will feel as though you are in paradise. Afternoon tea is a pleasure, served with very good quality cookies and cakes. We had the misfortune of windy and damp weather for half of our stay, and yet we were never at a loss to do something. The location is especially great due to the close proximity to a market and shops (pharmacy, restaurant, liquor store, etc.) right down the road from the property. There is a bus stop also there, and you can easily take a day trip to some other interesting locales (Horseshoe Bay, with its dramatic rock formations, is recommended). The musical sound of the Tree Frog plays all night while you're sleeping. We did see a couple of insects the first night, but this is an on-going issue everywhere on the island, and management quickly took steps to correct the problem. We have visited many islands and this was our favorite. Highly recommended.

It was my first trip to Bermuda and Cambridge Beaches was the perfect place to spend my Birthday. The staff treated us like Royalty and even left a Birthday cake in my room. Every room has a gorgeous view of the ocean and the grounds had a indoor as well as an outdoor pool. I Would definitely stay there again when I return to Bermuda.

Room Tip: Cabs are a bit pricey. I would recomended using the Bermuda transit Buses.

First trip to Bermuda and staying at Cambridge Beaches was the perfect choice. The resort is very nice and clean, and located in a perfect location. It would be hard not to see the ocean from any accommodation.

Food was excellent, I was very impressed with the quality and difference in offering every day.

We had a room with private pool: direct view on the ocean, no view of other guests rooms, and a great accommodation with living room, large walk-in closet, big bedroom and a very large patio and lunge chairs next to the pool. Sunset from there were magnificent.

Property is very nice, not crowded and well maintained.

Service at the reception was fine, a little bit more friendly would have been nice, but nothing to complain about. Ignore the gift shop, you will be a lot better served going to the Navy dockyard.

As a summary it is definitely a location I would go back to without hesitation.

Our first trip to Bermuda (and our obviously our first stay at Cambridge Beaches) was very enjoyable. The Cambridge property consists of about a dozen buildings each housing 4 or so suites/villas, surrounded by well kept gardens and several very nice beaches. This is a very upscale resort, although not at the super duper level. The rooms very well furnished, nice and comfortable. The views out over the ocean from our suite's back porch/deck was wonderful.

The property has all the amenities one would expect from a high end resort although we didn't take advantage of all them. There are 3 basic places to eat, the poolside bar, the high end restaurant (Tamarisk) and the beachside restaurant (Breezes). We found Tamarisk only OK but really enjoyed Breezes. The quality of the food was about the same at the two, but it's hard to beat the ambiance of eating outdoors on the beach at breezes... They even set us up a table right on the beach our last night at no charge.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cambridge, but will probably try one of the other resorts (eg reefs) next time we go just for some variety, and not because we were dissatisfied with Cambridge in any way.

Room Tip: Get ocean side, not sound side

The staff at this hotel are experts in friendliness. Our room was large and situated on a hill overlooking the ocean with unobstructed views. The room was a tiny bit old fashioned, but it was large and quiet. Breakfast was magnificent with the most delicious fruits and baked goods. Wifi was free which was great since we turned off our cell phones. The fitness room was well appointed with treadmills, elpiticals and weights. The indoor pool was deliciously warm and empty of people. The beach was clean and quiet. Swimming in the ocean was a great experience - sand under your feet, no waves.

Room Tip: We had one of the hibiscus suites - great location and super quiet.
