This is long overdue review, me and my wife were staying in the apartment about a year ago, August 2017. The property is very conveniently located, halfway between Hamilton and the airport. I can’t find enough words to describe the apartment, everything is well maintained, everything is stylish. The view from the property is breathtaking, and you can enjoy it from your private patio.
Brian and Ineke are wonderful hosts. Everything we needed were anticipated, and delivered.
Bermuda transportation is something challenging. Every time local taxi driver failed to show up Brian helped us to save the day.
Thank you very much, if we ever decide to visit Bermuda again, it would be our first choice.
Andrew and Irina
We visited Bermuda with another couple last week. It was a first time for both couples. We had decided to book through VRBO because we found hotel rates to be outrageous, but we were a little nervous, as it was our first time booking with VRBO outside the US. We needn’t have been. There were 3 items to consider in our review: venue, accommodations, and service.
The house is in a great location: quiet and close to the beach. It is about 10-15 from the airport and St George, and maybe 20 from Hamilton. There is a beautiful, totally uncrowded, beach that is a short 10-15 minute walk from the house. The ocean is clear and warm, and the sand a clean coral and pink color. There are even some public showers at the far end of the beach.
As for the accommodations, we stayed in a good sized two bedroom apartment. There is a small refrigerator but no cooking facilities. Unless you plan to eat dinner in however, they really are not needed. It does have a large living room, and just outside is a patio overlooking the ocean. Beautiful. The air conditioning was quite comfortable. Oh, and there is a nice pool and tennis courts at the facility.
The service is what gave this the five stars. Brian and Ineka couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. Breakfast was included, and Brian is quite the chef. The menu was different each morning; Spanish omelet, eggs Benedict, French toast, etc plus coffee and either fruit and yogurt or a glass of fruit juice each day. The hollandaise sauce is homemade, not packaged. Since we were unfamiliar with restaurants, Brian made recommendations for us each night (all were very good), he reserved the tables for us, and most nights he drove us to them (we arranged for a taxi back). From our prior VRBO experiences, we really did not expect any service, but we were delighted with our stay.
In our opinion, you really could not get more from a vacation resort.
Bermuda is gorgeous and Watch Hill Manor is a beautiful place to stay. Brian is a superb host and attentive to every need. His breakfasts are amazing.
The property, inside and out , is spotless. Ineke, his wife, was also lovely and her garden is so pretty.
The Manor is set on a hill overlooking that stunning turquois ocean, there is a pool and tennis court. It is a short walk to John Smith beach which had great swimming, with red sand and crystal clear warm waters. Brian helped us with local knowledge so we saw the best of Bermuda. We choose to catch the buses all over the island, they came every half hour. The history is very interesting. Loved St Georges and the Dockyard. Do not miss the Commissioners House.
This was honestly one of the best holidays my husband and I have had. I would not hesitate to recommend Watch Hill Manor.
My husband and I recently spent 6 nights at Watch Hill Manor in the Brineke Apartment to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Having been to Bermuda several times and always staying on the South Shore Road, we decided to try something different for this vacation. We found Watch Hill Manor and could not have found a better place. The Brineke Apartment was spotless and comfortable and contained everything we needed. The views from this property are amazing!
Brian and Ineke were fantastic hosts. In addition to taking us to the local grocery store on the day of our arrival, Brian made scooter reservations, dinner reservations and arranged for transportation to the airport on our last day. All of this was very much appreciated. One of Brian and Ineke's dinner recommendations was Sul Verde and it was easy to see why they spoke so highly of this restaurant. Not only is the view absolutely spectacular, but the food was just as spectacular. Thank you both for recommending this fantastic restaurant to us.
Watch Hill Manor is in a quiet neighborhood which makes it very easy to relax at the end of the day. Hopefully we will return again soon and now have a new favorite place in Bermuda - Watch Hill Manor.
Being our first trip to Bermuda (or the Bahamas as I kept calling it), the Hetzels made it so easy! We first stayed 4 days at the Fairmont South Hampton and I thought the service there was good, wait until you set foot on the grounds of Watch Hill Manor. The location is close to everything and far enough away to have a peaceful quite evening on the terrace enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. Brain and Ineke made our stay at their home perfect and unforgettable, thank you we will be back.
There are probably not enough words to describe our stay in Bermuda with Brian and Ineke. We used both units and "wow"! Right from our first steps into the apartment we felt at right at home. My husband and I stayed in the apartment and our friends stayed in the B&B. We loved everything! All rooms were spotless, very well appointed and beautifully decorated. The grounds and views were spectacular. I have been vacationing in Bermuda for over 30 years and this was by far the best accomodation ever!! We wanted for nothing.
John Smith's Bay is great for swimming and easily walkable. We were able to swim there and the beach is beautiful. Spittal Pond is close enough to walk as well and perfect for spying birds, especially Longtails, and the most beautiful scenery. We travelled everywhere by bus and it was very simple from the house.
Even though we were not able to use the pool or partake of Brian's famous breakfast due to construction, our stay was perfect. We love Bermuda and the people and this was our best experience overall.
But what we most enjoyed were our hosts Brian and Ineke. They were more than generous, welcoming, kind and friendly. Ineke is the sweetest person and Brian is a fantastic story teller who has lived an interesting life and has a wealth of knowledge about Bermuda. We consider them good friends and are contemplating a return with our daughter at Christmas.
Thank you Ineke and Brian for treating us like family. We appreciated your generousity and the care and attention you gave to us.
We are seriously going through Bermudian withdrawal right now. Our stay with Brian and Ineke was perfect. Clean and comfortable accommodations, delicious homemade breakfast (and great conversation with Brian!), refreshing Rum Swizzle's and the best secret island recommendations from a true local. We can't wait to come back and visit this wonderful island and kind couple. Brian is a truly caring and hospitable host, who helped take our vacation to the next level. The only thing we would change would be to see Ineke a little bit more - she is so sweet ;).
