“Nice hotel, convenient location”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

We chose to stay there again for the same reason as we did the first time : it's really close to the airport, which makes it convenient for the end of the trip to Bali. It also has everything to make you feel like you are still on holidays : a nice pool in a pleasant garden, and a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of families, and sometimes we wished there was a "quiet area" for those who like to relax by the pool without having to deal with the others' children running / screaming ...
We appreciate the hotel policy regarding the price of in-room dining and drinks : it's all very reasonable and the quality is good. Same thing for the pool bar and the drinks and snacks available at the shop. The spa treatments are also reasonnably priced and we've already plan to try them next time !
The room was not huge, but very functional, clean and comfortable. We noticed a smell of humidity every time we came back into the room, which was a bit unpleasant, but apart from that, everything was ok. The breakfast was included in our package, and it was ok, except for the so-called butter and jams, which were of poor quality. The rest was good.
Also plenty of restaurants and small shops in the area.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn,Baruna Bali in Nov 2013. This was our third year at this resort and it never let's you down. Facilities are great as are the staff. Rooms are clean and spacious for families. We stayed in a room with a separate area and bunks for the kids. Food facilities at this resort meet australian food standards and in 3 visits we have had no Bali belly. Most families you meet at the resort are return customers. I will stay again next year without hesitation this place is a true piece of paradise thanks to the staff.

Had a 2D1N stay at Holiday Inn. This hotel is a gem because of their staff, i appreciate that security were at work every single time we take a cab in or our driver bringing us back. Their counter staff were on the ball and very ready to serve.

Check in was very fast as staff were all very efficient they are also able to check for small denominations in case you run out due to tipping.

Rooms were generally ok, had requested for 2 single beds in room 2235. The one closest to the balcony had brown stains on the sheets. I just thought that for Holiday Inn, the hotel would offer a better standard.

Love that they also offered complimentary spring water and they have a good selection of channels, which kept me company through the late night.

Wonderful room, great view, lovely pool deck. Very gracious and accomodating staff. Pool bar serves very weak drinks, unless you ask for "real drinks" and pay accordingly. Security present and visable; located minutes from the airport. Surrounding neighborhood safe to walk and only a block to the "main drag". Great breakfast buffet. Smoking allowed on pool deck and balconies, rooms are non-smoking. Lots of young kids...got kinda loud on the pool deck at times...and the place is family friendly.

We stayed here for 4 nights just recently. Check-in was smooth, the staff all welcoming to us all. Our room was a studio garden view, on level 2, at the far end of the resort, away from the lobby. It suited our family (2 adults, 3 kids aged 6, 10, 12) with the bunk beds and the sofa bed. The bathroom was a bit of an eye opener at how open it is, but we got over that and actually found it to be good to keep an eye on the kids while they were showering without having to be in with them. We had no issues with the housekeeping cleaning our room, as soon as we were up and out for breakfast, we hit the switch to let them know we were happy to have the room cleaned, and every afternoon at about lunchtime, it was done. We love the cleaning fairies.

Even though there is only one pool, there is a kids pool to the side for the young non-swimmers, while the rest of us can float around, or sit at the bar, or play a game of water polo. The pool bar staff are friendly and funny, kudos to them for having to put up with the occasional drunk Aussie cackling loudly and making the rest of us cringe. Happy hour can be a noisy time.

The food at Envy was delicious for dinner. At The Palms, the breakfast buffet had a wide enough range to suit all tastes, even the woman who literally cleaned out the fruit station 2-3 times in one sitting- my 6yo was very disgruntled that she didn't leave him even one piece of watermelon. Thankfully the staff replenished foods/drinks quickly so little time was spent waiting. The staff were attentive and friendly, always keen to help. They made a mean Virgin Mary too!

Our 2 younger kids used the kids club, they found it boring. The set up is very efficient though, with locked doors for safety, a playground right outside and a phone being provided so the staff can contact you if needed. Our oldest child used the teen room a couple of times, specifically to play the xbox (and chat to the cute boy who was there sometimes too).

We utilised the Departure Lounge in the time between out late checkout at 4pm, until dinner at 6.15pm. It was a strange room, seemingly in a really deserted area of the hotel, past the kids club, past the conference rooms, up a set of stairs, opposite the gym. It was a lovely quiet space though, with groovy music piped in, bathroom facilities, TV, desks and a long lounge for relaxing on. The biggest tick from me was the fact that it had great aircon! No needing to sweat in the lobby for a few hours.

The only hiccup to our stay was an incident poolside involving our 10yo and a faulty electrical socket. He wasn't seriously harmed thankfully (if it had been in Australia with a 240v socket it could have been very different) and the response from the hotel staff was fast, efficient and appropriate. The socket got fixed quickly and my son learnt not to touch electrical outlets with his foot.

The resort is located about a 15 minute walk along the beach from the Discovery shopping centre, in my opinion it is a much more pleasant walk due to the sea breezes than the hot and aromatic road walk. Water Bom is located directly opposite Discovery, so save your $$ and walk up there and back.

We will be back in the next couple of years, for sure.

We have been to Bali 6 times and this is the 3rd time we have stayed here and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Close to shopping and water bomb park and you don't have to walk the main street of Kuta to get to them, you can enjoy the beach walk. Clean and spacious resort with very friendly staff. The Food and Staff at Envy restaurant are fantastic! The kids loved the ice cream shop. Beautiful place, beautiful people. See you next time we come for a holiday!

This was the third (Or maybe even fourth?) time we've stayed at this particular resort, it was much the same as previous stays except this time we took our children so had a bit different experience as well as trying a different room type to normal.

This time we had a Garden Access Studio Room, Room 1144, the type of room design is quite clever as it is like a normal hotel room, but with the addition of a small (very small - about the same size as a walk in wardrobe) room which has a bunk bed and second TV/Xbox for the kids. This room has a sliding door for privacy and meant we comfortably housed the four of us in this room for a week with limited issues, I couldn't have been happier with this concept and it worked really well for us.

Check in was smooth and the room was ready for our arrival time of approx 6pm. We experienced an issue on the first night where the neighbouring room (1145) was extremely noisy, sat on the balcony drinking and then noisly talking inside. At approx midnight i phoned reception as I'd had enough, they were very ineffective at getting the guests to be quieter and in the end I wished i hadn't have phoned as reception kept phoning me back in our room to ask if the noise had improved, this obviously woke our children up each time.... I complained to the manager the next day about the scenario and he was wonderful, he blocked the room off so nobody else stayed in it during the rest of our time at the hotel, as well as giving us late checkout and a complimentary airport transfer on departure, so well done to the staff on how they handled it!

Envy restaurant is their premium offering on site, and we thoroughly enjoyed it (As we did on all the other trips), great service and amazing food.

We did have a few drawbacks, which for the price paid I could accept and did not complain about, tho this prevents me from giving it a 5 star rating:-

** Television in the room is unviewable from the bed in the main room, it is facing towards outside and not the bed. As such for the whole week we were unable to watch a movie and relax in bed.

** There is a very bizaar speaker in the toilet which whenever the television is turned on, duplicates the televisions sound, but at full volume. Why you need a speaker in the toilet i'm not sure? and sure was annoying when I had the television turned down quiet but the bathroom was still very loud.

** Breakfast was average to say the least, compared to the W in Seminyak and the Hard Rock, which has amazing buffet's at breakfast. This was boring, unimaginative and fairly low quality.

** Happy hour in the pool was reasonable value, unfortunately it also drew in a large "Bogan" group of australian's, brought down the class and enjoyment of the atmosphere very rapidly.

** The lift is very small and slow, much easier to walk the stairs to go to your level (Though this is being very picky).

All in all, great value accomodation, quality service and a good location. Would i stay again? Depending on price, if cheap yes, but there are better accomodation options in Bali (Though they are more expensive - the W in seminyak for example is twice the price though it also twice the quality)

Room Tip: Definitely go either Level 1 for access to gardens and pool from your room, or level 2 so you dont h...
