“Close to the airport and friendly”
Reviewed 31 December 2012

We wanted to stay close to the airport on our last night in Bali as it was New Years eve and we had a midnight flight. Kuta becomes impossible to get through on New Years Eve. The hotel is very clean and a super comfortable bed. The staff are very helpful and bend over backwards to help.
We tried to book in to the cooking school but it was fully booked. Maybe next time. Restaurants and bars are only a short taxi trip away. Only a 50c fare to get to a local warung.

We recently stayed at Anika Guest House for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The driver met us at the airport . The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants and places to go. Our family really enjoyed the complimentary foot reflexology treatment we received when arriving. It was the perfect way to start our visit in Bali. We had other treatments as well at the Spa and everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We would and have already recommended Anika Guest House and Spa to other travelers we meet.

Stayed for 3 nights in October 2012 . Enjoyed the experience . Great people , free breakfast , wifi and water which is great. Bathroom were a bit grimmey but you get that everywhere in Bali. A cab right away from Kuta Beach and the Poopies lanes . Don't pay more than 25,000 - 30,000 for the transit. Guys will offer to tour you around but be prepared to pay for everything they need which turned me off.

Room Tip: Only stayed in the double bed room which was great. AC worked great.

We booked this solely for the purpose as an overnight stopover location close to the main airport. In this respect it was absolutely fine, it is only a 5 minute transfer and the hotel can help you with a pickup / drop off for a charge ( approx 10 USD)

The hotel is also known as the Anika Melati Resort and Spa on some online booking sites. In this respect the name is a bit misleading as yes it does have a spa but it is basically a budget accommodation and I would not recommend it unless all you care about is its location close to the airport.

The rooms are very basic, not the cleanest and really needing a refurb. The bathroom was very simple and needed a good remake and the towels were old and tatty. Locally there is absolutely nothing to do, there are no restaurants in walking distance and to be honest I am usually prepared to walk in most areas ( have travelled all over Asia ) but this one had me a bit on edge.

I realise this may be coming across as a bit of a negative review but I am not trying to knock them, just point out the reality that this is a basic accommodation, ideal as a short term stopover resort if you are not overly fussy and for the price it is a good choice as long as you know what to expect.

My suggestion is if you want luxury you need to expand your budget and chose elsewhere. Alternatively if your flight is a sensible time the next day perhaps book somewhere in Seminyakmwhich offers more variety, is only a 20 min drive and there you have the option of the beach / choice of places to eat out.

This is the second time, I have done this class. This time a took an old lady friend- who so enjoyed it! Chose the Saturday menu this time. I have taken classes in Ubud , twice with different schools, but ANeka's class is the friendliest and the best for learnign about Bali food and how to cook it. Picked up from Hotel in Kuta, taken through Tuban market, chef informed us with his expert knowledge of spices, fruit etc. The class itself is hands on with help! Easy to follow recipes. lots of friendly banter, using products you can get in NZ and Aus.
The range of recipes was good and we all shared the meal at the end. 5 stars to the chef again!
Only let down- no black cooking aprons to buy!
