I travelled to Bali with my partner and my best friend and her partner. It was my first time but my partner had been there 3 times before me.

To be completely honest my first impressions of Bali was "third world country' but none the less I was still excited.

My suggestion is if you have a late flight then Tuban is a great stop because it's so close to the airport. Always ask for the bluebird taxis and it should not cost anymore then 30,000 rupiah to get there.

The Radiant hotel and Spa whilst still new only about a year in the making was decent and quite in a back alley (Puri Graceng ) Half of the hotel was still being built.

The hotel has 2 pools and a lovely restaurant area, out of all the places we stayed in Bali I still liked this the best. The hotel staff were very nice aswell.

The internet service was a little slow but who can complain.

I liked the rooms whilst different to what you would expect in Australia it's pretty similar to 3 star hotel/motel accomodation. Overall a good experience.

We booked online through Agoda and it was not until we pressed the YES button that we realised we had been hit with a $37 PER DAY tax on top of what had seemed like a "cheap" rate. Tried to contact Agoda some 30 minutes later to cancel the booking but were not able to get through to them via email. We should have bit the bullett and called because despite their promise to get back to us within 24hours - they didn't - and by the time we got through to them it was too late to cancel. So we sucked it up and dealt with it! Standard rooms facing the "garden" (which is what we paid for) are sub-standard and the toilets smell BADLY. Rooms are very small and face a brick wall covered in a few plants (this constitutes the "garden"). Breakfast was cold, poor choices and we gave it away after a few days when we discovered Bakers Corner next to Pepito's supermarket where you could get great coffee and pastries for very little. The staff said that people don't stay for long here and we could see why! The suites were very nice but at $350 per night - a bit pricey! Word was the superior rooms which face the pool were also very small. A very sterile hotel with absolutely no soul - Kenny Gee playing the same sad tune in the empty dining room every evening. Workmen drilling, sawing and hammering from 7am until 9pm - even on Sunday's!! On a plus note taxi's were cheap and it was a 15minute walk to Kuta.

Good: Ten minutes form airport, complimentary transfers, pleasant staff, in-room wifi, pool looked nice.

The bad: I should preface this by saying that i think we had the worst room in the hotel, and I might well feel differently about it if we'd had a different room. Our room was on the ground floor just around the corner from reception. We booked a double room, but were given a twin (ok, as we were staying for one night only), one of the beds clearly did not have clean sheets - they were wrinkled, had some hairs on them and a dash of dried tomato - i suspect this might be the room that staff sneak off to if it is vacant and they want to have a quick nap! There were mosquitoes in the room. The closet doors would not stay closed and therefore the closet light would not go off. But worst of all, the reception desk was printing on a dot matrix printer until well into the early hours of the morning. We can normally sleep through quite a lot of noise (we live under the flight path!) but somehow the noise of the printer was amplified into our room, so along with the mossies we had a really poor nights sleep, especially considering that we had a small window for sleep as we had flown into Bali late at night and were flying out to java early the next morning.

Overall: The hotel is well located if you need something close to the airport for late arrivals or early departures,BUT i think you can find better value elsewhere.
