We arrived late and tired and were thrilled to find such a calm, beautiful hotel. The service was outstanding - we were advised by the management that staff were paid well and we were under no obligation to tip - and wouldn't be asked. This is such a rarity in Bali that it makes it worth staying there for that alone!

The rooms are clean, if a little daggy now, but everything provided is beautifully done. The restaurant is hard to stay away from, with breakfast being the best we have found anywhere.

The pool area is stunning with a well-serviced pool bar. The spa onsite was a little more expensive than those found in main Kuta, but so much cleaner and more convenient.

The hotel was steps away from the beach where the boats go out for surfing, a few minutes walk from Kuta, but so quiet and beautiful that it was hard to believe it was so central.

Couldn't fault it and would certainly recommend it to everyone. A friend stayed on my recommendation and had the same experience.

We stayed at Rama Beach Resort for 9 days and we loved it... My husband myself and our young children had not stayed at this hotel previously. Having read some of the reviews for this hotel I was a little nervous. Whilst the foyer and entrance are perhaps not as grand as some other resorts the cleanliness the friendly staff and the great pool area make up for that. We had connecting rooms (deluxe) on the 1st Floor and whilst we never got to see the plunge pools etc in the private villas within the grounds apparently they are excellent for the price. The friendly staff and the cleanliness of this resort is what makes us want to stay there again. Some reviewers have made disparaging remarks about this hotel and perhaps the breakfast could have more variety but it is plentiful and fresh and the service is excellent. We dined some night 's in the restaurant and the food was well cooked and reasonably priced. Security at this hotel is excellent and because it is not on the beach ( some may say this is a drawback) it does give you more privacy and a feeling of security.
Would gladly stay there again.

we spent 4 days at Rama Beach for a friends 50 th birthday in April. There was a group of about 30 that stayed, the party was held in the dining area. The garden surrounds were well maintained, gardener out every day, sweeping, pruning generally keeping tidy. included in our room rate was a 1/2 massage at the on site Spa, which was so good we went back a few more times each. Pool was lovely although its depth of 2.4 all around was a little off putting. there are a couple of shallow beach areas, the swim up bar fantastic. our first day was spent pretty much in the pool, swimming, drinking and eating pizza from the wood oven, close by the pool. pool did close at 10 pm, which sometimes when you have returned around that time you would like a swim to cool down before going to bed.
our accomodation in a garden villa was a suprise. Room was quite nice , bed comfortable, huge bathroom. Garden area was mouldy but thats the weather so no huge problem.
i fell ill the second day and the hotel were great in getting a doctor to my room promptly. did cost a fair bit, but able to claim on insurance. would return here. it is close to Kuta and all the shopping there but far enough away. was a 10 minute walk to the beach. i am not a beach person prefer a pool.

Starting off on a positive, the staff are so friendly, extremely helpful, the pool is great with comfy sun loungers, cheap room service and the Rama Cheese Burger was very satisfying!

The negatives include the breakfast - if you love your breakfast, want good quality and a variety do not stay here. It is very budget and basic.

We booked the Garden Villa and although spacious, it looked very tired and dated, so we upgraded (yes we had to pay) to the Pool "Suite" which is very nice. Hard mattress and pillows though.

There were a lot of renovations happening while we were there which was really disappointing. The pizzeria right next to the pool was being worked on, cornered off by fibro sheets and the occasional chainsaw and hammering as background music while we tried to relax at the pool.

The Tennis courts were being renovated so not in use.

Then they decided to empty out the pond that surrounded the restaurant which was messy and smelly from old water and dying coy fish.

Outside the resort is dirty, crumbling concrete fences, a new holiday inn resort being built opposite, there were bull dozers and machinery on the beach and emptied shops used as rubbish dumps in between the Rama and the 5* Ma Jolly Restaurant with old food & waste spilling onto the street. It wreaked.

There are no restaurants apart from Ma Jolly (which looked lovely) within a short walking distance so we spent most of our time in taxi going to places in Seminyak which were brilliant.

Maybe when all the renovations are finished and the Restaurant actually takes note of the breakfast complaints and changes, this would be a moderate place to stay. Close to airport and to kuta.

Would we stay again? No.

My boyfriend and i (21yrs and 23 yrs old) have just come back from the Rama beach Resort in the South of Kuta. We had a great time. We were originally meant to have a graden villa but they upgraded us to a a villa with a plunge pool. The room was very big, and the bathroom was massive and very modern.

There is one main pool that has a bar in it, which always had people there but not too many. They didnt have happy hour which dissapointed us so we didnt drink there often.

The breakfast buffet was okay, not fantastic. They made any eggs you wanted which we liked. The dinner was nice, but noone around made the atmosphere a bit dull. Room service was fast and a resonable price.

All the staff were very friendly, and always called a blue taxi (metre taxi that is the cheapest, cost $2 aus to kuta shops) for us. Got 4 bottles of complimentary water every day.

It wasn't the best location as it was too far to walk in to Kuta, and it didnt back on to the beach as we would have liked. Next time we would probably stay in Seminyak as it is a little quieter with amazing restaraunts and shops (for a change) Overall it was a great stay and would defenitly recommend it!! There was also people around with small children and the staff were very helpful.
