What a beautiful location - set right in the vineyards. Ours was a quaint room looking out onto the garden, and separated from the swimming pool by a hedge. It was much more than a hotel room with separate lounge room, compact kitchen, and huge bathroom - had quite a cosy, home feeling. Breakfast was served in the first floor dining room of the main building, with a wonderful view over the vineyards below. Walking distance to Beblenheim, and a pleasant stroll through the vineyards to the next town of Riquewihr. Highly recommended place to stay in this gorgeous part of France.

[On my scale this is a 3.5-stars hotel. Price is fair.]

We traveled through Alsace wine country together with 3 more couples, and stayed for three nights at Kanzel Hotel in adjacent lower-level "studios".
Good location at the edge of Beblenheim, close to Riquewhir, Mittelwhir, Zellenberg, close-enough to Colmar.
Caroline & Sonia were very friendly through the reservation, check-in, checkout and in between. They helped us a lot with restaurant reservations in this busy season.
Breakfast was very good: nice selection of breads, cheeses, wursts, fruits, yogurt; hard-boiled eggs; decent coffee (no cappuccino/espresso).
The large, clean studio was divided into a sleeping section and a living section, with practical furniture. No A/C. Comfortable bed, decent bedding. Flat TV with some English channels, but cannot be viewed from bed. No in-room safe (but why would you need one in Beblenheim?!)
Bathroom slightly on the smaller side; good water pressure and temp.; decent quality towels.
We had a great time at Kanzel and all eight of us highly recommended this hotel.

Room Tip: You may need a fan in summer, as there is no A/C.

This hotel will not get many points for their interior decorating, however the service and comfort could not be better. Excellent restaurant recommendations -both within walking distance as well as in the near by villages. The complimentary shuttle will take you there and pick you up, so you can have that glass of wonderful Alsacian wine with dinner. This hotel is good for longer stays at well, spacoius and with fully equipped kitchens if you want to cook your own dinner.

We found Hotel Kanzel through a website aimed at gay travellers in the Alsace (visiting rural areas, you want to make sure you're welcome and avoid unpleasant surprises at check-in). Beblenheim has always been one of my favourite villages in the area. It's conveniently located near all the hot spots, but very quiet. Hotel Kanzel is located just outside the village amongst the vineyards; very tranquil. It's actually more like a small gated community with studios and suites in various buildings around a central courtyard and surrounded by nice gardens.
We booked a studio but were upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite, which was a nice surprise. The room was very spacious with a full kitchen and a large living room. It was all very comfortable and pleasant.
Breakfast in the morning was good and both staff members we met were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
We only stayed for one night but it would be a great base if you wanted to spend a bit more time in the Alsace.

Hotel is not a hotel in the traditional sense. Apartotel would be more appropriate, as the majority of it consists of apartments, with kitchenettes. Everything is finished to very high standards with great beds, comfortable couches and even books for reading. Appliances like TV's and refrigerators are from renowned brands which reflects the overall standard of the hotel. Staff is knowledgeable and truly multi-lingual. Seldom have I encountered French people that switch so effortlessly and fluenty from French, to German, to English and back to French again. Breakfast is plentifull. The pool is large and clean with a children's play area. The only downside is that there is no on-site restaurant for dinner, but this is compensated by a free shuttle that brings the abundance of restaurants in a 10km radius within reach. Highly recommended for families with children.

Stayed two nights in a large and well equipped family suite with a huge and fantastic bathroom and a nice balcony. However the apartment somehow lacked atmosphere. Sleeping comfort not OK. Especially kids sleeping area upstairs was very hot during night due to no A/C (strange!). Windows could not be opened during night due to a noisy road just beneath the balcony (Alsace wine road, heavy traffic). Also use of balcony was limited due to traffic noise. One bed was very creaking which apparently could not be repaired. WIFI not really functioning in room. Big, nice pool surrounded by lawn but outdoor shower was broken. Breakfast OK, not a large selection but good quality. Front desk very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful views from the balcony to the Vosgues and neighboring village of Riquewihr. Otherwise surroundings were pretty monotonous with wineyards all over. This part of Alsace is extremely crowded with tourists during Summer, not only in towns and villages, also in the mountains.

Room Tip: Go for apartments facing the valley, not the Wine road
