My husband and I spent three days bed, breakfast and dinner at this amazing hotel. We both travel quite a lot and have stayed in many hotels. This was by far our best experience as far as quality and service are concerned. Breakfast consisted of many home-made products, breads, cakes and jams in particular and local produce from nearby. This was a far cry from the usual standard breakfast you find in most hotels these days. The quality was amazing. The same applies to the fantastic dinner in the evening. This was French cuisine at its best with great wine to choose from a long list and a sommelier at peak times. The service was excellent without being too intrusive. The staff in this hotel were all very friendly and we were greeted by every member from hotel manager to gardener. We received a complimentary bottle of water for our journey every day. There were umbrellas and blankets at reception to cater for every weather. In the afternoon, you could help yourself to homemade cakes and hot or cold drinks at no extra charge.
We can also highly recommend the in house Zen massage. The spa is being renovated at the moment and should be ready early next year, which should make the whole experience even more worthwhile. There're also a lot of DVDs to choose from, should you feel like watching a movie in the evening. The only minus point is the fact that rooms are not sound-proof, probably because it's quite an old building. All in all, we absolutely loved it and would like to stay there again in the near future.

My wife and I spent a week at La Cheneaudiere. The accommodations were pricey but well worth it. I would recommend future visitors to get a second floor room with a balcony view of the village of Colroy la Roche. The hiking in the near bye forests were beautiful in October. We also took advantage of all the facilities in the hotel. There is a pool, hot tub, and sauna. My wife had an hour long massage in the late afternoon.

This place is simply amazing! The hotel is welcoming from the moment you enter and all the staff you encounter, whether chamber maids, reception or restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. Reception is a little way up some steps from the car park but reception offered help with the movement of suitcases which we didn't need. But the thought was there. We were then shown to our room which was on the terrace with a nice view and certainly well equipped. A large room with separate ensuite facilities made for a relaxing stay. The restaurant is superb, serving meals cooked and prepared to a very high standard. The staff here are so helpful and we particularly thank Harrold and Pierre for their diligence. Other staff were just as good but I didn't catch their names! Worth noting the excellent local wines available especially the rhubarb wine!
There is a huge range of locally sourced produce for breakfast and you certainly shouldn't leave hungry!
The spa is nice with a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. They are building a new spa to be opened next year so it will be interesting to see how that goes and whether any additional facilities are provided.
Little touches add to the experience, an English language news sheet given to us at breakfast and a bottle of water given every time we went out for the day. These little touches show an attention to detail which is quite rare today.
We stayed here for 5 nights on our way back from Switzerland and had no idea what to expect. Fortunately, the hotel has plenty of literature about places to visit in the region and we were never bored. The Vosges Mountains are beautiful and we were helped by the sun which shone almost throughout our stay.
We will go back here as this is one of the best places we have ever stayed.

Myself and my family have arrived and were told that in front of our suite there will a noise of construction. The noise start at 7h30 in the morning for the whole day until 17h00. They management is very sorry , acknowledging that they have messed up.
We were not warned in advance. The construction and the noise on site is not mentioned anywhere. Be warned!!
The story we got was that the builders were supposed to arrive only next week but they unfortunately arrived yesterday ( I am sure that everyone can believe this)
I felt cheated by the hotel management for not being transparent with us on the day of the booking.
To their credit they have offered us a discount on the suite.
I personally will never come here again.

In english :

Dear Sir or Madam,
We would like to thank you for sharing your comments with us.
I am sorry to hear of the inconvenience you experimented during your recent stay at La Cheneaudière. Please believe that the works shouldn’t have been in operation: we too were surprised to see the teams in the morning, on the workplace situated in front of your suite.
We should have called and informed you, you are quite right. Instead we decided to let you know on your arrival at 1pm. This was a mistake.

In the name of the whole team, I would like to sincerely apologize.

In your review, you are not mentioning to the readers the fact that we offered you two alternative very quiet suites, which you didn’t accept.
We did inform you that the hotel was currently undergoing refurbishment works, as this is clearly stated on each confirmation of booking.
We really tried to satisfy you the best we could under the circumstances, and granted you 40% discount on your room rate for both nights, as well as complimentary breakfasts each day for your children worth €100 in total, in order to make it up to you.

Dear guests, we are doing our job with our heart and commitment, true to the values and spirit of the Relais & Châteaux. Our team is dedicated to the constant well-being of our guests, and the energy invested is only rewarded by your satisfaction.
We do hope that we will get another chance to welcome you in La Cheneaudière.
Yours sincerely,

En français :

Madame, Monsieur.

Malgré notre bévue, je trouve votre jugement et votre notation très sévère. En effet, vous omettez de faire part d’une bonne partie des faits aux internautes ;

This was our fourth visit and much enjoyed. The hotel is based in a quiet village surrounded by trees and a tranquil oasis. The food is excellent and the breakfast rememberable for it's generous choice. Our bedroom was large as was the bathroom although we were only given a shower.

The only peculiarity is that they do not provide toiletries but only have one of those dispensers for a combined soap/shampoo, which you would find in a budget hotel. Bit odd and looks rather cheap compared to the rest of the service.

Will definitely visit again if in the area.
