Phil was very helpful, organised all the lift passes, ski hire and kept in touch well before the holiday too. Chalet hosts Danny and Jen were good craic and cooked us fantastic breakfasts, afternoon teas and dinners. Wine flowed freely, along with elvis impersonations from the other chalet guests it made for a good atmosphere for all from 17 to 70... Sorry Frank!

Ski in ski out made it very handy to get up and get going in the morning. Wide variety of skiing available, we even got a wee bit of off piste squeezed in. A tip though, there is plenty of runs in la plagne without having to go to les arcs.

Would definately book with Phil and his team again, had a really fun week, cheers guys!

Stayed here for 1 week 12-19th jan, we drove over and arrived at about 4pm,we went to check in and it was very busy as it was transfer day but the reception staff were pleasant.
However when we went to our apartment it was nothing like any of the pictures on the website, they were obviously the bigger chalets but the apartment which was 321a was really small for 4 people, it is advertised as being able to sleep 5 but there is no way, one would have to sleep on the floor! My sister and her boyfriend ended up sleeping on separate sofas as the double sofa bed was tiny!
The apartment was small but it had everything you'd need for self catering, oven with 4 hobs, fridge freezer, dishwasher, utensils.there was also a small toilet and separate bathroom which had a shower attachment half way up the wall so you had to sit in the bath to have a shower!
We do however think we were a bit unlucky with the apartment as it was a corner apartment and we saw the inside of one 2 doors down and it looked a bit bigger, saying all this the facilities here are good, lovely pizzeria downstairs serves nice food and the resort itself is a lot nicer than a lot of the other villages.

I stayed in Chalet Chardon for a week over the 2013 New Year. It's not a chalet - rather an apartment on one level. It has the most wonderful view over the mountains - see my picture; plus it is true ski in & out. If you end-up too far down in the village, you can take a drag-lift up. Phil, who runs Smitten By Snow was very, very helpful in arranging everything before the holiday; and his chalet staff were great fun, cooked good meals, and kept the apartment clean and tidy.

The rooms are an OK size, with twin beds and en-suite bathrooms. Plenty of hot water. Most rooms have a balcony, as does the lounge/dining area. There is also a small swimming pool, sauna and hot tub - and these are shared by the whole building.

The apartment, and indeed the whole building is very tired, and could do with a total refurbishment. And on the first day the lift was not working. There is no WiFi in the apartment - you have to go down to the lobby. But it's important to note, that all this is reflected in the prices charged - which are very good value. And for me, the big plus-point was the ski in & out, and the location.

So all-in-all, a good value holiday, with great hosts, a fabulous view, and that good, easy, ski in & out!

Been to la Plagne for four years running now as its a fab resort, cant fault the lifts, runs people atmosphere all great. Stayed at Balcons for the first time on recomendation. Group of nine adults and seven children in six bedroom apartment (no one in the lounge as children in cots).

Last year we stayed at the very comfortable MMV Centaure apartments next door. Main reason to try Balcons was restaurant on site (sadly opens at 7pm too bit too late for young kids) and they do a six bedroom appartment (Centaures biggest was three bedroom).

The reception staff are fabulous, friendly and welcoming, however the place itself is very tired, it is spacious, has whirlpool baths in every ensuite room, clean as it can look, and so on, but its really in need of refurb. Despite prebooking requests there was not enough bedding, and no cots in the apartment and on arrival we had to do several trips to get extra linen etc. (I have nicer towels at home for drying my cats by the way and they sleep on comfier matresses...the pillows are lumps of foam in cotton bags, so be warned).

The cots were travel cots and you need to bring your own matress and bedding, they do not have any child beds or truckles. We needed to take the three single matresses off the sofa to put in bedrooms for children in the end, leaving us with no lounge, these were stained and one damp (uhhh?!). The door to the balcony was broken and couldnt be closed, dishwasher runners were broken (but at least there was one and it worked well). There was no dishwashing pack, bin bag etc on arrival but there was one loo roll in each bathroom.

The lounge/dining area is not carpeted so noise levels with a 6 bed appt are incredibly high, you could hear every word in every room and the first person up in the morning wakes the whole apartment. Restaurant was ok, but prefered others in the area (particularly la Cassetta in the centre and any of the pizza places are all fab).

Children were all at the ESF Jardin Haut (higher of the two tiny tots areas - beware this was shut last year same week and lower school is a longer walk, but both are fab and with excellent staff - no complaints). From Baclons this meant lifts and walks via carpark, but not overly traumatic. It was outside the locker room of Centaure appartments. Locker room is only viable here if you are going direct to lower slopes, we carried kit up every night, but there is a good sized cloakroom in the appartment for it all.

All in all, we would probably return to Centaure next year rather than Balcons, and just have two apartments. The hire shop and nearest restaurant are only a few steps away and its much easier to ski in and out of for beginners/small children as you come out onto a flatter area, not a shaded icy slope. Both have equally good pools and spa areas, but Centuare had real matresses not dirty damp foam.

Room Tip: we were on 7th floor, good view of both sides of the slope, balcony

Stayed here with smitten by snow, excellent service from the owner Phil from start to finish! Lift passes etc all booked and waiting on arrival , helpful friendly chalet staff, and excellent food.
Car park on same floor as chalet, as is swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi complex, so very easy access to both.
Lift or 2 floors of short stairs to ski locker, and truly is ski in ski out, about 4 steps to easy blue run to lifts at bellcote, and as is so high there's loads of snow!
Wifi is a bit of a pain but its free in the two reception rooms 2 floors up, ticket lasts 48 hours ,but make sure reception is open for when you want to renew.
Chalet is clean, modern, quiet and comfortable, with jacuzzi bath in each room, a balcony running round entire chalet with great views to bellcote. Most nights mulled wine was served before dinner, then 3 course dinne, followed by cheeseboard, and fab bottled wines different each night depending on meal, all were excellent.
Breakfast was lovely, cereal, fruit, croissants, bread etc and cooked option too.
Lovely warm boots each morning from the heated boot room.
Snow card wasa good idea for lunches, cost e5 and could use on mountain restaurants for reduced rate lunches, could do with handing out a map of restaurants it's valid in.
Belle plagne is a lovely little village self contained and prettier than some of the other villages
Would def reccommend and return , would try to get corner room if poss, quieter!

Room Tip: I would ask for corner room

we stayed in the meriille catered chalet/apartment..it was a bit cramped for 8 adults & 2 children and is advertised as sleep 12 so would be very squashed with 12 adults both in the sitting area and around the dining table. Furnishings were clean but very dated and getting shabby. The kitchen was a small galley kitchen.Watch the lift. My daughter got stuck in it and it took 10 mins for someone to hear the alarm by which time the light had gone out and she was in pitch darkness. When they finally let her out there wasnt so much as an apology from the 'manager'
the location was great for the piste though a beginner would probably struggle with the 'ski in/ski out part and its a long uphill walk in ski boots and carrying poles to the ski-school.
On a positive the view from our balconies was stunning. The the pistes were well maintained and our party of mixed skiing abilities had plenty of choice

Just back from Belle Plagne staying at SmittenbySnow's "Chalet" Bruyere... Excellent weeks ski-ing and second year at Paradiski area.... Great value from a late booking discount, but one thing that has to be said is that these are not Chalets ! If you're inside looking out onto the piste (with the aid of several beers) you might think so...but the truth is that these are just part of a huge apartment complex. Having said that the "Chalet" hosts were excellent and the food and wine made our stay very enjoyable....and being able to ski to the door of the locker room is a huge bonus.
Phil, the owner of Smitten should be proud of his staff, although it would've been nice to pass on the discount in lift pass prices that he gets to his guests (hmmm...) And what's going on with those half-way-up-the wall showers ?!

All in all, good accommodation, in a great intermediate ski area......but not a Chalet .

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms better for noise in morning.
