“Excellent - best Chalet I have stayed in for a skiing holiday”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

Having just spent a week at the Chalet Graciosa, I cannot fault anything. All of the staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb, the atmosphere is great, and you get the added advantage of ski-in / ski-out. Great place to stay and great staff - thanks for an enjoyable week.

In terms of location, Graciosa is just about perfect. You can ski to the door and the first lift is no more than 300m away. There are easy and tough ways home and there are fun bars and good restaurants a few minutes' walk away. Best of all, the amazing lounge/dining room has am astonishing panoramic view. If you fancy eating a full English breakfast while Mont Blanc lights up pink before your eyes, then don't delay to book!
La Plagne, as a resort has masses to offer and it would take a season to explore all the runs and corners of this massive resort. OK, it might be a little down on big reds compared with 3V, but quite a few of the blues have their reddish moments. It is quite expensive, but not ridiculously so, and you are in the middle of some of the world's best piste skiing.
Any negatives? Well, the place is a bit old and probably needs a refurb. Ski boots are hard on floors and the stairs seem a bit tatty in places. Some of the fittings have been replaced with cheap and flimsy. (I hate a bog seat that won't stay up!) The rooms are nice enough, but a bit "tired". None of this detracts from the comfort. Plenty of hot water and a real bath!
Best? Well, location, as already described. The food was good and plentiful and the wine abundant. Top of all were the staff. Superb management leads to enthusiastic, friendly and intelligent staff who seemed, and probably were, delighted to have us there.
We were a very mixed group of 7 with a range from very experienced skiers to near beginners and we all had a great time. I organised the trip and I have no doubt that when it comes to next year's trip a repeat will be a likely request from all.

Room Tip: The place is upside down with the exit and public rooms at the top. Go low for best quiet.

Just returned from a week in La Plagne staying at Chalet Graciosa. The amount of runs available across the paradis-ski area was fantastic... our group of 3 intermediate boarders and 1 skier found plenty to keep us interested and though the town itself is not pretty, we would definitely return for the slopes.
The chalet is placed in a perfect position near the base of one of the runs in the centre of the resort. We boarded out and in each day. The bar is less than 10m from the slopes.
The staff were fab, they reply made our stay. So friendly and great fun. We had a real laugh with them both in the chalet and in town.
The food was excellent, plentiful and tasty. We never felt the need to go elsewhere.
Room are basic but nice and very clean and warm. The manager Holly was lovely to us and always ready to offer a hair dryer when required!
All in all we really enjoyed our week here and would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed at this chalet hotel as a couple. The set up was great with large dining tables which were shared with other guests making it a great and informal way to meet and exchange the days stories with other guests. The food is good home cooking but not of a too high restaurant standard. The bedrooms are basic but spacious and beds are comfortable. If possible get one of the triple rooms with bath in the bathroom to have extra space.
The slope side location is excellent with a 100% ski in/ski out possibility

Room Tip: room 35 a triple with bath in the bathroom, spacious and good

Pretty standard accommodation, but bathrooms better than usual and we had a full size bath.

Food much better than you would expect for a chalet hotel.

Service levels are the best I have experienced in more than 30 catered skiing trips

We have just returned from the chalet hotel Graciosa in La P,agne Centre and had a fantastic time. My daughter had her Birthday while we were there and they made her a cake and were more than happy for us to celebrate it.
The food was fantastic and they were great with our small Grandaughters 2 and 4 and very accomodating with there food which, was served early.
Our room was basic but, very warm and comfortable with beautiful views. We only used our bedroom to shower and sleep as, we were there to ski and used the lounge area to talk about our adventures and sample the delicious home made cakes in the afternoon.
The Chalet is ski in, ski out although, the very top of the home run had a short steep bit which, I am sure most people can manage. If you have little children, the Oxygen ski school is a bit of a trek back up. The weather was fantastic, very warm and Sunny with the best snow ever.
Staff at the Graciosa were all brilliant and Cha and Holly, our Chalet Hosts, could not have been nicer and made our holiday so, good time had by all. Hope we can repeat it next year.
Thank you to everybody at Chalet Graciosa. X

The Graciosa is a c40 bed chalet hotel operated by ski olympic where I have stayed twice.

Skiing

The location is everything on the piste a gentle glide down to La Plagne centre where there are three lifts to take you up into the excellent range of pistes. Ski school also meets in La Plagne centre and the piste down should be manageable for a beginner certainly a nervous skier.

To get back there is the Becoin lift that brings you to a blue run down the the chalet a little steep at the top but very wide so manageable for most levels. Alternatively you can take a telecabin from the village and enjoy a gentle track down to the chalet.

With minimal planning you will never have to carry your skis.

Ski Olympic offer in house ski and boot hire and also organise your ski pass so it is turn up and ski very efficient.

Ski hosting is offered, I have travelled with a number of operators and without doubt Ski Olympic offer the best hosting service, informal and relaxed catering for all standards. It is a good idea to make us of the service as La Plagne is quite extensive and the day trip to Les Arcs is a particular highlight.

Accommodation

Location Location Location the chalet is tired if it were a 10 min walk to the slopes you would not stay at the Graciosa but it is clean the rooms are functional and it does have a nice lounge area. You can pick your rooms when booking we booked a triple for a couple and it was just big enough with three in it I dread to think!

Food

My one criticism of Ski Olympic is that their chef's try too hard or watch too much Masterchef - the food is hit and miss. I have recently suffered health issues which means I do have dietary requirements this was a big issue for them.

My advice would be keep it simple - this is a hotel for skiers who want simple filling food. There is however plenty of food provided at breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner.

The free wine is plentiful and drinkable.

Staff

Ski Olympic do appear to have a knack of finding very friendly staff, typically gap year age so the service lacks experience or finesse but all very engaging, efficient and nothing is too much trouble all with a smile. Al controlled by an efficient and helpful chalet manager who is always a font of knowledge.

Overall

Top marks for location and staff if it is just the skiing you are interested in and clean functional accommodation that feeds you reasonably well this is an excellent choice. If you want a bit more from your holiday experience in terms of quality of rooms and food you may be disappointed - for the former you may wish to consider the Ski Olympic chalet in Les Arcs for food Mark Warner or hotel accommodation elsewhere.

Room Tip: If there are two of you chose a three bed room 46 is better than 41 from my limited experience.
