“Stress Free Family Holiday!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2014

La Plagne 2100 is one of its was our second skiing holiday with Club Med. This holiday was every bit as good as our first. We travelled with 3 other families, our group ranged in ages from adults to children 17 to 7 years old. La Plagne is a wonderful skiing area for a group like ours. Nice wide gentle runs and lots of fast lifts. The resort is linked to Les Arc, which certainly means a big ski area. Club Med include a full area ski pass within the price.

We booked a package travelling from Gatwick. We had a minor delay at Grenoble airport when another passenger’s case didn't arrive, but the reps at on the coach were very good at keeping us informed and we soon were on our way.

Our children’s skiing/snowboarding lessons went well, all the instructors seemed to enjoy their jobs and joined the children for soft drinks at the bar at the end of the day, perhaps the free bar was more the deciding factor that just our wonderful children!

The in-house photographer took some great photos of the children skiing, a bit expensive perhaps but very tempting to buy.

It was the quality of the food that made up our mind to return to Club Med, we were not disappointed at all. We have for years always booked catered chalet holidays and sometimes food at Chalets is not impressive with little variety. The extensive choice at Club Med is excellent so there is something for everyone at every meal even for our fussy children!

Club Med skiing holidays are very good value money, being all inclusive you don’t need to take credit cards; I think I only spend a few euros on coffee stops on the mountain. Also included is lunch, which can be booked at the other Club Med hotels on the Les Arcs side, we did this twice in our stay, it’s nice not to have to ski back to the hotel every lunch time, particularly from the Les Arcs side.

We booked our trip in the end through an online travel agent Ski Line. They managed to secure a better price and better flight times, than by contacting Club Med directly who take ages to answer phone calls. I spoke to a few staff at Ski Line and they obviously know all the Club Med ski hotels very well, we’d recommend them.

We spent the week of New Year's Eve at the Club Med La Plagne 2100.

The hotel was packed with an international mix of families: French, Russian, South African, British etc...I do not think this week would be suitable for a couple who seeks a quiet place to ski and relax afterwards. The hotel is buzzing with children and not all of them are well behaved...

We had two contiguous room: children were sleeping in one, parents in the other. The rooms were small but modern and clean. Both rooms had a bath.
We managed to park our car in the indoor parking. Apparently, it is not on a first come first serve. They give priority to families with children.

All of us took classes. Club Med hires ESF ski instructors. They are very good, follow the ESF instructional programme. We all made good progress, particularly the children.
The hotel is right on the slopes. You can actually ski right to the hotel doors.

The mini club is very convenient. They help the children to dress and undress. They bring them to the classes. The mini club is even open in the evening for adults to enjoy a more intimate dinner.

Some aerobic/stretching classes were offered in the morning and late afternoon after the ski. The only caveat was the size of the room: too small for the demand on that busy week.

The food is excellent and varied with a focus on the local specialties. Everyday, we would try a new dish. They serve ice-cream every day for lunch and dinner. the rest of the desserts are sub-par.

We will be happy to come back

Our first Club Med holiday was a last minute booking. We stayed for New Year Week and were really impressed. We self drove, on arrival you get a friendly welcome and.. a white envelope full of instructions.... its all quite complicated, and there is very much a fixed system that you need to follow - otherwise , it could go a bit wrong. Staff, by and large, are extremely competent and friendly. I Liked the way the general manager stood by the ski door to wave everyone of in the morning and welcome you back in the afternoon with vin chaud. Everything is paid for, all meals, drinks, ski lessons, pass etc. The food is really top quality- you would easily be paying 70 euros per head per dinner if you went to a restaurant for this quality. The after dinner shows are a bit 'cruise ship' but fun and done in a nice casual way. The rooms are all newly refurbished to a very high standard. The ski area is fantastic - you can ski all week and not visit the same area twice. there are connections to Les Arc.

Downsides - the hotel architecture is horrible - a bit like a Leningrad suburb designed by a second rate architectural student. There aren't enough lifts. The web site log in was difficult - we never managed it. But all in all would definitely return and enjoyed it massively!

Stayed here twice now on all inclusive Family ski holidays. The hotel is perfect. Staff can't do enough for you, service with a smile. The food is fabulous! I've never eaten such nice things - foie gras and seafood was to die for. The cocktails are also lovely. The rooms are everything you need. Beautiful view over the slopes with a lovely big bathroom and comfortable beds. The little spa is also nice with a big jacuzzi overlooking the mountains - although you need to go at the right time otherwise it's too busy. The outside terrace is also lively with a great atmosphere and music on a morning and lunchtime and there are always entertainment/shows on an evening.

As part oft the Les Arcs ski area La Plagne offers one of the best and largest family skiing areas in France. Plus staying at Club Med means adults as well as kinds get lessons. - and can also bypass the lift queues as being in the ESF ski school (though queues were not too bad). The 2100 club med offers ski in/out (better than the other la plagne club med just below it - though this also has a pool). The staff are great but seemed somewhat overwhelmed with the numbers at Christmas. The main problem is lack of space - facilities are old, rooms cramped (just the bathrooms have been recently renovated), elevators slow. Plus La Plagne village is functional with nothing worth venturing outside for. Club Med Les Tignes and Valmorel are apparently better equipped.
