Returned last week from a amazing time in belle plagne! It was our 1st time skiing as a family with our 5yr old & 10mth old & we couldn't have asked for a better holiday. The chalet hotel is fab, clean, big rooms and right on the slopes with fab views out of the room. Well done to the chefs every meal was wonderful looked forward to the large spread of afternoon tea and dinner...thanks guys :) the childrens meals were also great it was nice to know our children were getting fed proper home cooked food everyday not junk. The childrens clubs are wonderful, daughter went to ski school in the morning followed by lunch and then snow club, haven't seen her so happy & excited in ages she couldn't wait to get going every morning. Our son was in nursery, he was taken good care of & never came out with a dirty nappy and he was never unhappy when I collected him, the staff were great & would take them out twice a day for walks & on the last day we were presented with a folder with some bits they had done with him in the week.....so a massive thankyou, ski teachers, snow rangers and nursery staff you all made our holiday so stress free knowing the children were being so well looked after. Wasn't sure about the baby listening service when we booked the holiday but what a great idea, fab service from all the listeners every night.
Can't thank all the staff of Des Domaines enough, well done guys & esprit we will see you again next year :)

We have just arrived back from a weeks ski trip to this hotel. Was a little apprehensive as chosen this instead of Club Med and had been told by travel agent that this really was the best option if putting child care at the top of agenda. We had already spent a week at one of the Esprit chalets in Plan Peisey which was fine but nothing special. I understood that the Deux Domaine in Belle Plagne was Esprit's flag ship hotel and I was not disappointed at all as it has probably been the best ski holiday we've had and there have been many!
It was brilliant in so many ways. Our 2 and 5 year old absolutely loved it. Having both been to nursery in the UK they slotted into the child care program with ease. The child care was second to none. Names of note were Emma (manager), both Jess's, Conor, Megan, Dominic to name but a few. A special thanks to Oli (snow ranger) who kindly took some video footage and photos of our daughters first time ski-ing out on the mountain. Our daughter especially loved watching Jess being thrown fully clothed into the pool at the end of the week! Very funny. Our son turned 2 during our stay and they really made a fuss of him including making him a cake and everyone singing happy birthday. It was great.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who were very friendly and helpful. I am amazed that such a young team of people would be so professional and passionate about their job. Becky does a great job of running the hotel and patiently answered my numerous questions and queries!
Everyone I spoke to had nothing but praise about the hotel and staff and I can see why people return year after year. I know we certainly will!

Room Tip: We chose 2 rooms interconnected for a family of 4 however rooms are very big anyway.

This was our first skiing holiday since having our nearly two year old son and, with one or two small exceptions, our overall experience was fantastic and we would definitely return. We would most definitely also travel with Esprit again and this experience has encouraged us to think about trying some of their other chalets/hotels at some point too.

Rooms: absolutely huge by skiing standards, clean, attractive, warm, good views, v comfy beds.

Food: The evening meals were a highlight, and the layout of the restaurant and table sharing was fun and sociable. If you don't fancy the idea of sharing with strangers you could always ask for your own table, but we never felt the need to as everyone was so friendly. The unlimited decent wines helped no end! Afternoon tea including soups, savoury and sweet pastries/cakes/croissants etc helped to make up for a fairly bland breakfast.
The kids food however wasn't always that suitable for toddlers taste buds (what is??!). If you have a fussy small person (like I do) I'd recommend taking a small stash of back ups away with you, or make use of the afternoon tea/basket of free fruit in the bottle/baby food prep room. Most people didn't seem to have any problems at all having said that. UHT milk in the fridge was also free to help yourself to for nursery children.

Childcare: The nursery was pretty busy the week we stayed (16 under 3s) and there were consequently a lot of nannies and new (albeit very friendly) faces for our son to get to know. If your number one priority is childcare, and your child is not already used to being in a busy nursery type environment for extended periods of time, then on balance I would say it might be better to go for a smaller chalet for this reason alone. The nursery manager Emma was diligent, calm and reassuring considering the turnover of little ones and parents she was having to deal with. She could not have been more helpful. The children are all put into key groups (3 in a group for 1-2 year olds) and assigned to two nannies who alternate morning/afternoon shifts throughout the week. The nannies seemed to vary from happy and enthusiastic (Thank you Shannon!!) to perhaps a little tired and understandably overwhelmed. The nursery room was nicely laid out with a separate sleep room. The facilities seemed pretty good overall, although it was a real shame that the tiny patch of outdoor balcony area assigned to the nursery was all they had access to. All of the babies and toddlers were instead wrapped up and taken out into the local area religiously for an hour or so once or twice every day. We were told this was always with at least two keygroups, and therefore two nannies, together. Considering the inexperience of some of the nannies and terrain/weather conditions I really hope this was the case. I really felt that a much larger, purpose made and well resourced outdoor area for the nursery children would have made life much easier (and perhaps more enjoyable) for everybody. Failing that, revamping the balcony area one would also do wonders!

Baby listening service: a total God send. Thank you to all on floor 4 in the 3rd week of Jan! We were the anxious ones with the monitor who somehow also managed to be last back from the restaurant nearly every night! ;-)

General areas and staff:
Bar/reception area was absolutely fine, although not as warm as the restaurant. The pool and spa were also good, yes the temps were a little bit up and down but we saw them being checked and altered as required by Becky. Lifts were always working. Boot room ideal and ski in ski out from floor 3 which was brilliant.
All the staff seemed friendly, polite, fun, hard working and busy. I only smelled alcohol on any of them once (NOT from the childcare team I hasten to add!) which is pretty impressive considering just how many uni aged employees are working in one building!! Clint struck the right balance between being good fun and professional, as did Sam in the restaurant. The girl on reception was always polite and efficient.

Transfers and Admin: We had no problem at all with any of these things and the various staff involved worked hard to get us and our luggage to the right places at the right time. Being able to use the Esprit nursery / children's room in Chambery Airport made a massive difference while we waited for our flight in a small airport, a great touch!

Ski Area: Both of us have been skiing/snowboarding in various resorts for years and La Plagne is a scenic, large, enjoyable ski area. Seems perfect for families to ski around together, and the pistes/lifts were all really quiet when we were there. If you're looking for miles of red and black pistes then make sure you get the Paradiski Unlimited Ski Area Pass and head further afield every day. Plenty to discover...

Overall, a great week and a place I would most definitely recommend and will return to at some point. Thanks to all of the staff for their hard work.

Room Tip: Floors 1-4 if you want convenience or go higher and valley facing if you want views. Rooms are all either really big or absolutely huge so don't worry about not having enough space.

We stayed here third week of January. We had smooth transfers from Chambery and were met by hotel staff who took luggage to rooms. Our room was amazingly spacious, we have been used to compact rooms in the past, even when paying premium prices so this was very welcome. It was thoroughly cleaned each day and there was no issue with drying towels on our bathroom radiators, the guidance indicated 'towels only' rather than 'no towels'. Location was fabulous, right on the slopes of this wonderful ski area.
We were very impressed with the friendly and helpful Ski Esprit staff - this was our first experience of the company. Everyone rated the child care services and there were happy and smiling children at tea every day. All staff were polite and eager to please and were clearly working hard to deliver a good service and meet customer requests. The only down side of our stay was being unfortunate enough to be there at the same time as a group of 'serial complainers' who looked to find fault with everything and who were clearly out to wangle freebies in return for their negativity (ostentatious celebration of a bottle of champagne given to them by the hotel in response to a complaint). All credit to the staff who maintained a professional and courteous response to this difficult group.
Food was delicious, plenty of choice and plenty of it. We had no problems with the restaurant service- we had various waiters/waitresses over the course of the week and all were great!
Well done to all- definitely a recommendation from us.

Room Tip: We had a room on 1st floor with view of the slopes. Loved it.

Fabulous week - hotel was brilliant in all respects; the staff worked very hard to ensure all guests were happy, food was fantastic, rooms of a very high standard and we would definitely recommend the hotel, and Esprit in general, to other families. The childcare and ski instruction were excellent too. Thank you to the hotel manager, Becky, and the rest of the Esprit team for a great week.
