First, les menuires is an excellent area for skiers to get to all three valley's from... lots of exploring can be done from this central location. 5 stars
To les christelles, the place is worn down and needs a lot of work as everyone has said.
Service-wise, quite poor. The rooms were not cleaned, the towels were changed only on demand, shower and bidet were blocked with hair, rubbish from previous occupants was found under the bed.
Breakfast quantities were miserly, when asking for a cooked breakfast (thats right you have to ask), make sure to just say you want everything otherwise be prepared to be served up a item or two on a plate. Scrambled egg with beans was one egg scrambled with approximately 2 tablespoons of baked beans. Bacon rashers looked like half the normal size, i got the distinct feeling food was on a bit of a budget and savings were made in the breakfast service.
As most people were going to be out all day skiing, it's important to feel fuelled up, so negative stars here.
Cakes at lunch were good, shame there wasn't any cutlery around so eating with your hands after a days skiing was the norn (the W/C downstairs wasn't clean either).
Dinner was served promptly at half 7, Shane the chef did a good job on this, I would say keeping things simple and serving up standard food rather than trying to produce French classics each night would have been preferred for me, but can't complain as overall the mains were always good and deserts yummy. Those who didn't eat cheese had alternative meals when needed.
The staff overall were hit and miss for me, a lot of people have said Sarah the manageress was very good, but I found her to be a strange character, emotionally unattached from the guests, she is informative but ask anyone whose lived there for a season and you'll get the same answers back.
The two blonde girls holly and naomi were very nice, polite and made time to talk and mingle with the guests as did the ponytail guy harry, who was also great... professional. The girl with brown hair was strange, again a bit like sarah it appeared she didn't want to be there, or was just going through the motions.
Overall, id say the location is amazing so go les menuires as its cheap and has great access to everywhere. I would recommend people to stay there who arent that fussed overly with cleanliness or need that much support from staff.
