“Great 2* hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2014

Hotel Regina is, as advertised, a 2 star hotel so don't expect a five star experience but it is one of the best 2 star hotels we have stayed at in France. The Aussie owners are attentive and work very hard to make your stay as good as possible. The rooms are a decent size with comfy beds and nice bed linen. During our stay the weather was much warmer than a typical February and even with all our radiators turned off the room was still too warm at night due to the number of pipes passing through the room to the rest of the hotel. We tried sleeping with the window open but whilst the road outside the hotel is a secondary road there are vehicles that use it and as a result sleep was a bit disrupted. To be fair to the owners, there it was unseasonably warm and not much the owners could do to help on this!

The property has clearly been updated and the decor is generally good but small things like dripping taps could easily be fixed.

The breakfast is amazing - one of the best we have had. We did not try other meals but the hotel offers drinks at competitive prices and is happy to recommend and help book up places to eat which is very useful.

The hotel is well placed for skiing being a short walk from the bottom of Bettex cable car or you can take the free bus. We hired skis at the mid station of Bettex so we could walk to and from the lift in our shoes and leave boots and skis up at the mid station as the ski shop has lockers for overnight storage - makes skiing with kids so much happier!

Overall a great hotel, a few small things to get on top of but the owners work incredibly hard to make your stay enjoyable.

(PS - I actually think that the hotel is priced too cheaply and could charge more)

Firstly, St Gervais is a gorgeous town that gives you fantastic access to all that the Alps has to offer yet still remains a quaint French village which is buzzing both in Winter and Summer. Close to Megeve, Les Contamines and Chamonix.
Le Regina is by far our favourite place for accommodation in the area. We holiday here regularly as we have family nearby and this is our favourite spot, especially since Kirsten and Gav have taken over the management. They provide delicious breakfast every morning and for dinner a few nights we had Demmy's homemade pies - yumm!!
The accommodation options suit couples, friends and families alike. Our room was spotlessly clean every day and nothing was too much trouble.

My fiancé and I stayed at Hotel La Regina for a week during our around the world trip. We had the best stay with Kirsten and Gav taking care of all our needs. When my fiancé was feeling unwell they went over and above! Breakfast, location and rooms were all very good. I would recommend this hotel to everybody who is staying in St Gervais! It was also very good value for money.

Le Regina is a fairly small, family friendly hotel. Gavin and Kirsten, the English speaking owners, and their two sons, Chris and Will, are helpful, friendly and sociable and made our week a pleasurable experience. We especially enjoyed meeting them and other guests in the hotel bar for friendly chats in the afternoon and evenings, which is miles away from large hotels that are impersonal. Our room was basic but very clean, with bedding and towels changed regularly. On the plus side the room was quiet with an extremely comfortable bed, but on the negative side our room didn't have much storage space and the plumbing could do with updating, however there was plenty of hot water. The room for boots and skis was ideal, allowing boots to dry out overnight. The hotel is centrally situated with shops and restaurants just a short walk away, and also the shuttle bus is a very short walk away. Gavin was helpful and showed us where to park for free. Hopefully, we will return sometime in the future.

A really lovely hotel. Run by an Australian couple Kirsten and Gavin who (with the occasional help of their lovely sons) go out of their way to make you welcome.
Comfortable bedrooms and scrummy breakfasts. No restaurant, but Kirsten will provide a simple meal if you wish (ours was delicious) and there are lots of good restaurants within a 3 minute walk
Easy walk to the Bettex lift, and the skiing was wonderful. We shall return, something we rarely do for a skiing holiday

Just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights for a 5 day skiing holiday. Can't find a bad thing to say about it great hotel the owners Gavin & Kirsten were a great help very friendly the rooms had a TV with built in DVD & my daughter was very happy when she discovered that they lent out DVD's with about 250 to choose from she was happy watching them in bed.
The rooms are clean & very warm (very important when you have been skiing in bad weather which it was on our first day we were frozen) some nights we even turned the heating of & opened the windows we were so warm.
Breakfast was simple but surprisingly filling ( I normally like a good fry up & never eat a continental breakfast, if all continental breakfast were as good as this that may change).
We ski at this resort every year only wish we had found this hotel before.
Will be booking again next year.
Thanks Rick & Victoria

This hotel should be rated more than 2 star! I travelled with a group of 6 of us and we throughly enjoyed our holiday and are so glad we chose to stay at this hotel! Excellent location for skiing as a short walk to Bettex or a free bus which is only up the road. Excellent choice of local restaurants!

Excellent hotel that is clean, modern and very friendly.

Gavin and Kirsten (the owners) and their children are very friendly and extremely accomodating! They often sit in the lounge/bar and socialise with guests and recommend really good local restaurants.

Breakfast was great - they even found us a toaster because we requested toast!!

They also lent us a set of ski poles as someone I travelled withs broke and we only had one day left of skiing so they saved us from hiring poles for a day.

Rooms are spacious with plently of hot water and heating along with a shower/bath, TV with DVD player. They offer free DVD hire which has an extensive list of DVDs.

Would definaltey recommend this hotel!

Will be staying here next year!!

Thanks from Codie and Dominic
