Haved stayed at this hotel 3 times before and never been disappointed. Stayed again for a week at the end of January and it's still a great place. The hotel as changed owners and you do get used to familiar faces and certain standards and it's just as good. Love Valmorel and the village centre. A true gem amongst the stunning French Alps.

We stayed here in January 2014 for a one week skiing holiday. We booked the hotel through Crystal Ski, our booking was made mainly on the basis of the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel has been taken over by new owners within the last few months and from what we could see it remains a well run, very friendly hotel and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

The hotel is really only available as B&B, however when we enquired about half-board the hotel emailed the following information:
“2 restaurants are our partners for the half board and you can contact them directly (you will also pay to them):
- La table du Berger (under the hotel) : latableduberger73@orange.fr
- Le Perce Neige (50 meters away from the hotel) : +33 4 79 09 90 06 or +33 6 22 02 96 93
Price for the half board is 24 € per adult per day and 13 € per child per day.”

We decided not to use the half board option to give us the opportunity of visiting different restaurants (there are plenty, good restaurants all within a two minute walk).
We ate at the following restaurants and would highly recommend them all:
La table du Berger (ate here twice as it was our favourite)
La Marmite
Le Jimbo Lolo
Le Perce Neige

Within a few minutes walk from the hotel there are two supermarkets, a bakers, pharmacy, gift shops, spa, pubs, tourist office, cafes, one night club and ski rental shops. The main Altispace ski lift is also only a short walk away (approx. 100m). The location really is ideal.

The hotel has a ski locker room on the ground floor……we went on the recommendation of other reviewers and brought a padlock to secure our skis.

The rooms are basic but very clean and adequate. We had room 37 on the first floor and it over looked the pedestrian street, we did get woken up most nights by slight noise from the bars/club on the street at approx. 23:30 and 4am however it didn’t go on for too long each night and on our last night we realised there were external wooden shutters on the windows and when these were closed over we couldn’t hear much at all. In room 37 the bathroom was tiny, probably the smallest bathroom we have ever seen in a hotel(!), it wasn’t really a problem for us through and it served it’s purpose………….it was nice to get a hot bath at the end of each days skiing. I had emailed the hotel before I went to ask if there was a hair dryer available in the room, I was told there was one however when we got there we discovered there wasn’t one in the room but one was available to borrow from reception.

The bar area was very cosy and welcoming with a nice log fire which was lit each evening. There was good live music on for a couple of nights during our stay.

We managed to get wifi access on the ground floor no problem, however it was not available in our room (we were told that would be the case on check-in).

In summary we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel to others, the location is perfect and the owners and staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Just to add to our friends review, We had to leave for a very early airport transfer, the Hotel opened the breakfast room for us especially, with fresh coffee brewing, the bread and croissants arrived. The staff apologised that the bread was still hot!! That is 'proper' service

I visited the restaurant on Wednesday 15th Jan 2014 and it was fantastic! My friend and I shared the Raclatte cheese for vegetarians. The presentation was wonderful and we had a large cheese to melt. The others in the group also really enjoyed it. There is a very nice atmosphere, it is immaculate and the staff were all very friendly.

We have just returned from Valmorel. We were very impressed with the hotel which is perfectly situated a few minutes walk from the Altispace lift. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Very clean rooms and spacious, the bathroom is on the small side but it didn't bother us at all. The staff here made our stay enjoyable. The hotel has a lovely bar with a huge open fire and Sylvain the bartender was interesting and fun to talk to and made the most amazing cocktails and his Irish coffees are a must! We were lucky to wake up to fresh powder days so we were up early for breakfast which was available from 7am, very handy when you want to be first on the lift!
The hotel has its own sauna which you can privately book out, we took advantage of this and the 'isqueeze' foot and calf massager everyday after a hard days boarding!
There are some nice places to eat very close by, its a very quiet and pretty resort, we would definitely return to this hotel for its friendly staff, quiet rooms and also the free WIFI. This little gem has it all.
Thank you David, Sylvain and the rest of the staff :-)

A little jewel hidden away from the popular resorts. Valmorel is a beautiful resort and Hotel du Bourg a pleasure to stay at. Bruno and his team are always very welcoming and make your stay fantastic. There is a cosy bar with open fire and regular live music. Continental breakfast is served each morning to set you up for a day on the fantastic slopes Valmorel has to offer away from the regular crowded resorts. There is also a sauna to relax on an evening. A hotel which makes you return time and time again!!!!!

Friendly staff and comfortable room made this a good place to stay. the hotel is positioned mid-way down the pedestrian main street of the village so is handy for all the bars and restaurants. There is a small terrace so when sunny it is possible to relax and enjoy the stunning views. The buffet breakfast offers ample choice of cereals and breads along with fruit juice and endless supplies of coffee, tea or hot chocolate - so a great start to the day. Our room had a small balcony so that offered further opportunities for relaxing - and we could watch some of the ski slopes. Wifi worked well in our room so we could keep up with essential news and contacts. it wasn't possible to ski to the door but it was only a couple of minutes walk to either a chair lift or the telebourg which would allow you to take the bubble up the mountain. Both are suitable for skiers and pedestrians. We would certainly go back to this hotel if we returned to Valmorel.

Room Tip: One with a balcony is great
