The hotel is right in the centre of the stunning old town. Wonderful view from our lovely room. Good breakfast in a beautiful frescoed room, and friendly, helpful staff. We had a very enjoyable meal in its restaurant.

Room Tip: There is a church right next door, with bells marking the hours all night, but with earplugs no problem.

Very nice rooms, clean, comfortable, well appointed and overlooking the square. The hotel itself appears very old but the rooms are modern in there furnishing and fittings which has been done very well and all fits in with the character. The breakfast room has historic murals on the wall and is stunning. the breakfast itself is a very good continental one with plenty of choice.
The restaurant and bar is on the ground floor, and you can eat outside if you wish. The service and the food were very good

Room Tip: I think all the rooms overlook the square which was both pretty and quiet

Thus hotel overlooks the central square in Goerlitz. It looks quaint from the outside. But there ends the review as I arrived late and there was no-one to let me in. Ringing the night bell about 10 times and trying other ways to attract attention failed. Got a good room just over the border in Poland

Hotel Schwibbogen will stand out in our memory years from now when we reminisce about our vacation in the Summer of 2016. This hotel stands out in the town square with its beautiful lime green exterior and contrasting light red roof. The interior is just as stunning with the mural in the breakfast room from centuries ago. I would like to compliment the night manager who had a very sunny disposition toward the guests. He was impressed with my husband's fluency in the German language and complimented him. Our room was unusually large and very, very clean. The decor was contemporary.
The town of Gorlitz is beautiful beyond words. There is a lot of history and to get an idea of the importance of the town it is best to take a tour. We certainly enjoyed the tram ride which highlights the significance of the town and also how important it has become for Hollywood movie makers to use the town for location in many of the recent movies (Grand Budapest Hotel comes to mind).
The only way to describe this lovely town is by pictures which I have posted with my review. We enjoyed our leisurely stroll through the town and crossed the bridge to the Polish town of Zgorzelec. There are many quaint restaurants and wine bars lining the small alleys throughout the town and one can spend several days just taking in the sights. We were very happy that we visited Gorlitz and came back with wonderful memories.

Pleasant, comfortable, clean historic hotel in the heart of old Gorlitz, with a restaurant on the ground floor. Its location makes strolling around the old town a snap. Don't miss the 16th century mural in the breakfast room.

It is a short tram ride (train station to Demianiplatz) and three block walk from the train station. Tourist information is available directly across the street from the hotel.
