“How do you choose?”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We asked at our hotel reception, JJ gave 3 recommendations.
The others were closer but he said this was his favourite!!
It was a little way out of Palau, but he said they would arrange transport there and back.
We confirmed that the much discussed "sucking pig" was available? Yes and 15min later transport arrived to take our group of 8 to a most charming and interesting restaurant.
Service was excellent and we were made to feel at ease, with the boss Fabian coming to our aid with translating the menu. We pretty much just left it to them to order, just saying what we liked.
Great fish carpaccio, excellent seafood pasta, follow by the amazing suckling pig and vegetables.
Wines were excellent, desserts delicious and Grappa sharp.
A totally wonderful night and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Note; we felt very good value for price.

“Bon Appétit !”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

With my husband, i must say that we are quiet particular on food and wine. We are well traveled and still do but one of the most important part of our travel and lifestyle is food and quality.
We do not mind to spend a bit more as long as the service and the food is up to what we expect. And we must say that we did have what we were looking for. The only difficulty we had was to choose from the wide choice of food on their menu, but with the help of the waiter, we did make our choice.
We had a Sardinian mix "terra" (from the land) starter served with delicious homemade flat bread and pickles. Then i had an entrecote while my husband had a steak. We asked for medium cooked and it we had it perfectly cooked to our taste. Also to mention that the entrecote was very large. They do also have a wide selection of very good Sardinian Wine.
The setting is fabulous with choice of behind outside, inside or under the veranda, all in a rustic decoration typical of Sardinia.
Bref, a very nice place to be and to have a succulent meal. We will be back and will recommend it to anyone staying around. Bon Appétit !

“Didn't blow us away”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

Didn't blow us away. Perhaps because completely empty (low season), perhaps because we were not hungry enough for porceddu, perhaps because overpriced (like most places in Sardinia though). The building was charming, service 'normal' (it took a while to get noticed...). The pasta (culurgiones) was nice, some great presentations of other dishes spotted on other tables. Driving a campervan, we would have preferred a restaurant you could walk to, so we could have had a drink... that's all. Maybe just the wrong choice for us on that particular night.

“Pleasant .. but”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

It was certainly many of the things said in other reviews ie secluded location perched on hillside, atmospheric ambience indoor, and good service, but to rave about the food being the best ever would possibly be a touch overgenerous.

The food is adequate and reasonably tasty though the steak was on the hard/dry side and the suckling pig was good but certainly not mind blowing as noted by others.

There was accordion music and the indoor courtyard experience was pleasant though I would have preferred some outdoor alfresco option, which looked like it may have been possible on other nights though not for that evening. Perhaps already being late September the restaurant was not in full flow as it were.

Good enough place however and worth a visit if in the Palau area.

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

Lovely traditional feel, not the cheapest but very popular with good reason.
Great atmosphere, not very touristy if that's your thing, used by locals .... Good service, good food, try the sucking pig, very tasty. I'd recommend booking in advance. Need a driver as it stands alone out of the town
