“It's the location...”

We stayed here twice already in low season at the end of september for more than a week and we were both times very happy with the place. Except the location it's nothing special but the place for our car and small tent was almost surrounded by water, only 2 meter away from the sea and it was one of the most idyllic spots I've ever camped. The bathroom area was okay and with the cold wind that blew from time to time the hot showers were very welcome.

Two adults and two children stayed here in a mobile home for two weeks in July. Very large campsite which was quiet at the beginning of July. We were first placed far from the beach in quite a deserted area but requested a move. We then moved to a lovely mobile closer to the beach. The mobile was top standard. When hiring a mobile you are required to rent your kitchenware for €15 a week. This pack didn't include bowls, plates or cups (just four plastic beakers) but had everything needed for cooking. We bought some plates etc in a supermarket (Eurospin is a great low cost supermarket in Palau) and took them home with us at the end! Sheets are provided and supposedly changed weekly although that didn't happen for us, maybe because we changed mobiles and confused everyone. There is a kids' club and nightly entertainment but nobody spoke English so our children couldn't join in (other less shy children might not have a problem with the language issue). The entertainment was repetitive but the campsite is so large that unless you're right beside it, it doesn't cause any disruption. The washing machines cost €5 a go but are quite fast and very easy to use. The shop is well stocked and as is normal on a campsite, slightly over priced but there is lots of choice and fresh meat, cheese, fruit and veg. We used it for bits and pieces rather than a full shop. The reception staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had a query. We ate once at the restaurant, on our first night when we were exhausted from our journey. They only served pizza that night which was fine with us, delicious and not overly priced. They have an extensive menu but we didn't eat there again as we often ate at our mobile or in Palau. The beach is a little stoney, not too wide but perfectly adequate. Our children bought snorkels and masks and spent most of their time with their heads in the water looking at fish but were also able to make 'sand'castles. The beachbar was fine for a drink or ice cream but expensive and as our mobile was nearby we didn't bother with it much. It might have been nice to have it open in the late evening so people could sit at the beach and have a drink. Unfortunately though there are two ponds just behind it and these often smelt very badly so it may not have been the best location for an evening drink. The campsite is very close to Palau, a wonderful little town with lots to offer, and is a great starting point for travelling around. To our surprise our children were happy to climb into the hire car every day and go off exploring so we actually visited almost every beach and town along the north east of the island as well as taking the ferry to the islands. Each beach was more beautiful than the previous and we were stunned by the scenery there. Sardinia is truly a beautiful place. As far as the campsite goes, we felt it is fine if you are planning on using it as a base while you tour around the area but for a two week family holiday for a non Italian speaking family, it doesn't tick all the boxes. Incidentally, despite the temperatures reaching 36 degrees, the presence of a constant breeze and sometimes outright wind, cools everything down considerably. Just don't forget your high sun factor, it was very easy to get sunburnt there.

Room Tip: Mobile deluxe is lovely, very new and with a great outdoor area. If possible, choose an area near t...
