We (2 adults 2 children) stayed at Vista De Rey Hotel (half board) from 11th to 18th July, and we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The receptionists at the hotel were very helpful, and the location was fantastic. We took walks in the evenings walking up the hills and the house and scenery were just beautiful. The only negative point was the food was too basic. However, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Torremuelle.

Although our holiday was booked for some time we were advised when we arrived that there was only only room left for us. Although we had booked a twin room we were given a double bed.(there was another settee bed that could be made up) We had specific requested a twin bedroom.
The room was clean and the sheets and towels we changed every three days which was just as well as the room was so hot. The air conditioning unit was very ineffective. Night times were the worse. Sleepless nights lying in a pool of sweat not really holiday fun.
We only had bed and breakfast which was a relief. The first morning and the last in the breakfast room made us decide to buy our own food and cook it in the kitchenette. A continental breakfast of rather sweaty looking cold meat and cheese, dry bread and chewy cornflakes was just not appetising.
Scenery around the hotel was very good with nice views from the balcony but there was very little places to go on foot. There were a few small restaurants and a mini- market where you could also eat a meal but all these venues were reached by means of a steep hill and none of these places offered entertainment.
There was no entertainment offered in the hotel. The bar area was virtually deserted, There was an outdoor bar/food serving area but we only saw anyone serving there for one short time and that was on our last day. It was thoroughly miserable in the hotel complex.
The station was close and cheap but none of the stations seemed in close proximity to the attractions at the resort.
Will certainly not be returning.

My partner and I have just come back from a week's Half Board at the Vista. In my opinion, there are both good and bad points about this hotel.

The bad points:
Woman receptionist (a large woman who reminded me of Roz from Monsters Inc, you'll know exactly what I mean if you ever meet her!!) was ignorant and unfriendly. When we arrived she was on the phone which we obviously appreciated as it is her job after all, but she didn't even acknowledge us at all and she had her back to us the whole time she was on the phone, we had to wait a good five minutes before she got to us. When we checked in, she told us our room number and what floor we were on and we headed off to the room. When we got there, we realised we needed a key for the safe so my partner had to go back down to reception and sort out the deposit - we thought the least she could have done was mentioned this at check in! After that we tried to avoid asking any questions if she was on duty.

The food was pretty poor, bread and rolls in the morning with jam and a couple of different cereals to choose from. The evening meal consisted of basic salad and soup for starters then one potato dish, one meat/fish dish and over cooked vegetables then dessert consisted of either tinned fruit or sponge cake.

If you wanted a drink from the bar you had to wait an age for someone to come and serve you then, you had to go over to reception to pay.

If you wanted an ice cream then you had to ask the receptionist as they had the key to the freezer, on one occasion a family had to wait approx 10 minutes for the receptionist to finish the call they were on before they got seen to.

Our bathroom light went out after the second night, we just used to use the little light over the mirror so it wasn't a huge problem but eventhough the maid cleaned the room twice, the light bulb wasn't replaced.

You may be wondering why I gave it a 3/5 based on the above, this is due to the following GOOD points:

Excellent location, as previously stated, you just hop on a train from Malaga Airport and you're outside the hotel less than 30 mins later. The train's brilliant for exploring the area and so cheap too.

The room was spotless and very well equipped for those on a self catering basis.

The pool area was small and friendly.

I know I said the food was really basic earlier - we tended to see what was on offer first and if it looked ok we'd eat in, if we didn't fancy anything then we'd just go into Benalmadena or Torremolinos for something instead. I think we ate in 4 out of the 7 nights and for what we paid for the Half Board option weren't expecting much anyway to be honest.

All in all, for what we paid for our stay the hotel was good value for money and would be suitable for anyone who was planning a holiday on a budget.

We had a 7 night stay in June with friends, the appartments were very clean, good value for money, everything in the rooms that you need including washing up liquid just a tip take a dishcloth and tea towel with you, the cooking area is very modern with microwave/grill, fridge and 2 ring hob, air con and TV but all channels are Spanish, there is 24hrs reception and the staff are very helpfull. We had are room cleaned 3 times in the 7 days we were there. The train is fab and is straight opposite the hotel, they run every 20 mins just 1 stop away from Benalmadena and 4 stops from Fuengirola for 1.60 erous both ways. The town is quite small with just 3 bars The Happy pig a little Spanish barr just under the blue bridge, a resaurant bar and Le Chique this is a great bar, this is a must to visit, Sean the barman & Ronnie the owner are great company and very welcoming Le Chique has just had a full makeover and wasn't quite finished as we left but the new terrece area looked great and for the winter months there will be an open fire. There are 2 supermarkets 1 small Spanish and 1 larger English Supersavers, this is also a Cafe/Bar and the food is very good breakfast full english for 4.50 erou's and a must try is the Fish (whale) and chips for 6.00 erou's it is delightfull and well worth it. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again and are back in September for another relexing 7 night break.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea facing balconey so all are good.

I stayed here with my sister and friend and found these apartments fab for their money! when we arrived of the renef train fromm malaga wich cost only 1.80 no need for transfers as the hotel being straight opposite, no noise from the train at night. we were never off it in to benalmadena centre for the beach and nightlife and fuengirola market on the tuesday it was fab! a small english supermarket down the road served decent food as hotel food was awful very continetal with no meat being served i would not recomend. cheap enough to make food in apartment and eat out i would definatly stay here again.

We stayed for 7nights here and because we had read the reviews we took the train from malaga airport thankfully we were aware that we had to go one stop on from benalmadena. Staff excellent nothing was too much trouble, whatever we asked for we got except the toaster but am certain had we asked again one would have been forthcoming. The station was a real bonus as whatever we had been doing during the day we knew that it was only a short step from the train to the apartment. Would like to have seen an inventory for the room but there is a list on their brochure, which we picked up from reception. All in all excellent value and could not find any faults as all possible issues i.e.the need to know the correct station to get off at and a bit of a hill to the supermarket, which if you timed it right you could fortify yourself with "happy hour", and they do fantastic vfm take away rolls. had been listed in previous comments. would recommend it and already looking to go again.
