Your calf muscles will be aching. I came back fitter not fatter. This is more like a motel than hotel and I mean that in a good way. Excellent polite service.
Great point to travel around from.
Limited facilities.. you won't get evening entertainment here.
We didn't get evening meal but at an amazing sister restaurant about half a mile away. BLANKKO check it out.

Do not book this hotel unless, A, you want to sit by the pool and do nothing, B, you are young and fit, C, you have a car. This hotel is in a far flung suburb of Benalmadena sitting on a hill surrounded by private houses with no public transport apart from the train, (more about this later) there are no bars or restaurants open with in walking distance and the local supermarket had shut down making this place unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems or kids in buggies, if you walk down to the sea front there is still nothing but a main road. The hotel is clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially the Iranian man on reception/bar and the towels were changed twice, our microwave did not work all week inspite of being reported every day so we were unable to heat food, thank God for the train which we used to go to another town to get fed. The train runs from Malaga to Fuengirola via the airport and points in between and is clean and quite, there is no need to get a transfer from the airport to this hotel which would cost about e30 when the train costs about e4 and stops out side the hotel, get off at Torremuelle station. If you take the train into Fuengirola there is a large supermarket next to the station which will sell you anything you need for a self catering holiday.

Room Tip: Get a room at the side as rooms over the main entrance face the railway with a train every 10 mins.

from 20th dec till 27th dec This hotel is just on the outskirts of benalmadena the train station is right outside
get off the plane and head across the road to the train station after having a beer,so easy get a ticket to torremulle approx 2.50 euros the train goes to fuengirola its about 6 stops on the train they have a screen so you can see where you are going its simple.the trains run from 6am till 12 midnight you can get a ticket and get on and off at the little villages as much as you like its only at the big towns you have to have ur ticket clicked much like the underground system.
you can get a news paper called the holiday guide which is very very useful for free just look out for one in the bars.
The hotel had everything you need lovely kitchen good views nice helpful staff tv and a bath and shower i was very happy i did have b/b the breakfast was continental it had everything you need and want but the beauty of it is you can also cook your own in your room if you choose
many people don't know this tip if you go out the main hotel door turn left and follow the road round (it is a dead end) on your left there are a flight of stirs going down they are lit up at night that leads to the supermarket the owner is British and its OK. this will cut out the long long haul up and down the big big hill. go a little bit down the road and there is a lovely bar called la chic the owners are so nice and welcoming we had lovely cosy nights in there just under the bridge is a hotel on the left and a restaurant on the right and you can get the bus directly outside a big hotel to benalmadena 170 euro all the action is near the windmill roundabout they do a wicked peallea at the orange tree just near there all the english bars are around that area near the hotel bali is a place called bonanza square there is a bar called the euro bar yes everything a euro large pint i had a brandy it was like a triple lol yes a euro after a few i had to get a taxi to the train station it only cost 5 euros up up up the big hill well worth it.
just outside the station there is a local bar on the corner aena i think its called the pavement is marble it is cheap and popular have one in there then get ur train back to vista de rey brilliant if you go the other way left from your hotel it will take you to fuengirola end of the line approx 1.80 euros u must get on and off at the lovely villages los bolices is lovely and i went for a peallela at cavajal next stop up and theres a place on the beach called los marinos 20 euro for two people what a setting beautiful it was.Fuengirola is great not so hilly and lots to do there is a market on sundays nr the mosque its lively and also tuesdays and sat there is a flea market. so head on down to the marina it is good lots of continental bars etc the marina in benalmadena is very very nice that is also a must well i hope this has helped and i just wish i could have stayed forever i loved it .
a flea market is on a weds at arroyo in paloma park and fri

We stayed in January and on arrival we were given a ground floor room which opened onto the terrace which was lovely... until we realised the pool was empty... and wouldn't be filled. :-(
The on site restaurant wasn't open as it was low season :-( Luckily it's next door to the train which we used everyday to travel and thank goodness we did !!! The chap on reception/ working the bar was lovely.
The beach at the bottom of the hill at torremuelle is lovely and we had it all to ourselves.
This hotel is usefull as a base for travelling, nothing else.

The on line photo does not do this hotel justice!! The hotel is only about 5 years old and very modern and clean, The staff are very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much bother for them. Our only gripe would be the breakfast. We would definitely advise you to go self catering as the breakfast is pretty meagre and if you are not down early enough, there is even less to choose from.
The Vista de Rey is located beside the railway station which has trains running every 20 minutes right up till about 11pm. Great way to get about and see more of this lovely area of Spain.

My mum, sister and I stayed here for a week in August, on the recommendation of a friend who had also booked it (to stay a month after us). Well what can I say? The saving grace of these apartments is their vicinity to the railway line... literally across the road. The area of Torremuelle is quiet, and lacking in shops. We knew it would not be a hive of activity, but expected a few more grocery stores, or at least a bakery. Unfortunately there was very little, the main food store being an over-priced grocers owned by Glaswegian ex-pats.
With regards to Vista De Ray itself, the front desk staff were OK...typical Spanish. Our apartment was pretty dirty on arrival. The bed linen and towels were clean, but the floors were covered in various manner of crumbs and hairs (gag), and the kitchen work tops were crumby and greasy. Altogether it was pretty off-putting, and I immediately left in search of some antibacterial spray and wipes in the grocers.
If you book a triple room (double and sofa bed), be prepared to set up and dress the sofa bed yourself, even if you haven't a clue about them. We were informed at check-in by a Spanish man (who sounded EXACTLY like the 'Alcoves Guy' from 'In Bruges'!) that "the sofa bed will only take a minute or two to set up". Well this wasn't quite true. We physically couldn't get the sofa bed set up, so phoned down to reception to ask for someone to come up. A good while later the 'Alcoves Guy' appeared, insisting that it would only take a minute. Well after 20 minutes of serious struggling, grunting, pulling and shoving, the bed was in place, and the man's shirt was stuck to him with sweat. It really was a hilarious sight.
The pool area is small, and overlooked by every apartment, so we paid to get the train to the beaches at Los Boliches or Torremolinos every day. Plaza Mayor is also worth a visit, 20 minutes away.
Torremuelle offers very little for night-times. There is a new restaurant, Blanco, down at the seafront, we went twice; the first time was great, the second time was embarrassingly wick. My recommendation would be to stay in Los Boliches; excellent big beach with life guards, plenty of shops, restaurants and bakeries. There is also a gorgeous hotel, The Yaramar, which looks divine.
All in all, the Vista De Ray is basic accommodation, the basement 'breakfast room' was something of an unspoken health hazard. It was always empty and in darkness, almost on the verge of shutting down. The apartments' website also advertised a 'free shuttle bus to the beach'... When we inquired about this at the reception, the man blatantly shook his head and said there was no shuttle bus at all, but we could walk to the local bus station if we wanted to go to a beach. What was that about? Pretty sneaky lie to get bookings??
I loved my week in the Costa Del Sol, but not these apartments. When I go back I will be staying somewhere nice in Los Boliches. Avoid Torremuelle and the Vista De Ray.

Room Tip: Avoid Torremuelle and just stay in Los Boliches!
