After reading the reviews on here, I was quite worried about going to this hotel. This holiday was the first time we were taking our children abroad. I needn't have worried, this place is fab!
My first thought when I walked into the reception was "WOW". The reception is extremely impressive. The kids loved the splendor of it . Check-in was very quick and efficient.
The rooms were equally impressive and very clean. Apparently the cleaners come in 5 days a week to clean but our room was cleaned for the 7 days that we were there. The bed was very comfy, not hard at all. We noticed that our air-conditioning wasn't working so I nipped down to reception to report it. They apologised and said an engineer would be up in 5 minutes. He was there by the time I got back to the room! There is a charge to use the TV remote control but as we were not there to watch TV, we didn't get one.
Just to be clear, the hotel is on a steep hill. I'm not sure what people are expecting when the brochures make a point of stating this. Its no big deal really as if you do want to venture out anywhere, like Beach Club etc, there is a shuttle bus that runs about every 5-10 minutes from 10-6pm. One tip though, the shuttle bus has break from 1-2. A mini bus replaces it but its very small and they don't mind squashing as many as they can in so try to avoid these times if you have a family.
The pool at the hotel is great. There is a great atmosphere and a snack bar provides lots of snacks and drinks throughout the day, (the paella is gorgeous). On Saturday, the lifeguards brought out a bridge that you had to cross. The kids loved it and so did the adults! The first adult to cross the bridge would win two hours in the spa.
The Beach Club at the bottom of the hill is also great. Lots and lots to do. We went to a water park in Fuenigrola one day. This cost us about 50 euros to get in and to be honest, it was crap compared to the Beach Club. If you want to eat your lunch at the Beach Club, you need to book at the hotel the day before between 8-11am.
This brings me to the food. The comments that have been posted on here have stated that the food is bland and not much choice. This is so incorrect. There is plenty of choice. My children, who usually only want chicken nuggets, were tucking into fish dishes and the carvery for the day. There is chicken nuggets and chips also available, as well as salads, fabulous desserts and soups. My husband reckons the food was the best bit about the holiday!
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food staff in particular are lovely. They pay special attention to the children which impressed me quite a lot.
The spanish do descend on the hotel at the weekend. To be honest, I would say this is a compliment to the hotel. It makes no difference to the holiday whatsoever.
The entertainment for the kids were great with a mini disco etc. The only negative I have is that the entertainment for adults is quite poor. Having said that, this hotel is not for couples, its most definately for families. Basically if you are a couple and you don't want kids around you, this hotel is not for you.
Ignore the negative comments, really do. This is a great all-inclusive and I have already booked for next year!
