“Brilliant place, superb holiday”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

Went here for a week in October three years ago and promised we would go back when it was hotter. Spent two weeks there in late July and early August this year, when the average daily temperature was about 35 degrees C, which was awesome. The hotel is brilliant, the food is excellent, with plenty of choice and options. The hotel pool is great too, and the beach club is just awesome, a really great fun day for the whole famiy, time and time again. Definitely four star. If the hotel apartment rooms had two bed rooms, it would be five star.
All the food and drinks are free, having taken the all-inclusive deal, a real must in my opinion, and excellent value for money.
The entertainment is a bit ht and miss though. Somenights it is great, others it is average.
Staff are usually polite and helpful, with few of them a bit less smiley.
Will be going back here again, if not to another of the hotels within the group first.

We have just returned from the Polynesia and had a lovely holiday. We have done several A.I. & this didnt disappoint. Staff were excellent, room was clean & spacious, restaurant had excellent variety & something for everyone, although as several have said, not always that hot. The beach club had a great selection of facilities, although as my children are 2 & 5 they were a bit young for most things. It could have done with a few repairs & the restaurant, that you have to book the day before was very crowded, although again, had a massive selection of food. The kidsclub was good & my 5 year old was well looked after. they can take younger children but you have to pay. The downside of the kids club was the mini disco which was the same irritating songs every night, most of which, although not in English, I now know word for word.
The crazy golf was in desperate need of repair & some bits not very safe. You also had to pay a 30 euro deposit which was a bit steep. You also had to pay deposits for several other things e.g beach towels & TV remote which soon added up. (TV works fine without remote, just press buttons on the side, although most channels foreign). Overall we had a great holiday & I would highly recommend this hotel. We wont rush back purely because the world is too small but would happily return in a few years when my children are older.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking mini golf are not the most scenic but certainly the quietest

Best hotel I've ever stayed at. The rooms were top quality, and the hotel was stunning. The food could have been better, but it was edible and the choices were extensive.
There are four hotels in the vicinity, all owned by the same company (Hotel World), and as far as I was led to believe, the residents of one hotel, can avail themselves of the other hotels.
The hotel is on a steep hill, but there is a frequent free open air bus service, which will take you down to the entrance to the water-park and the bus stop.
The hotel runs a bus service into Torremolinos on a Thursday, and charges a couple 20 euros for the pleasure... don't waste your money. Go down to the bottom of the road and get a number 120 bus, it will cost a couple a total of 5.80 euros for the round trip, and it's the same price if you're going into Benalmadena.
There is a poolside snack bar, which serves snacks throughout the day while the pool is open. We used this every day instead of going for lunch. It's buffet style, and the choices are great.
The hotel staff are very friendly, and their command of English is excellent.
All in all, this was an excellent hotel and we will certainly go back again.

If you're used to 5* luxury, this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you are after a very friendly & family orientated hotel, you could do a lot worse.

First, the negatives:

The food was average & sometimes not hot enough but certainly reflective of most 4* buffets.

The hotel is at the top of a hill although the walk is not as steep as some reviews have suggested. However, there is the 'Julia' bus that can take you up and down every 15 mins during the day.

It's a long walk into both Benalmadena or Fuengirola although I was aware of this before booking. Local buses run every 30 mins and taxi's are UK prices at worst and slightly cheaper at best.

The positives:

Rooms are spotlessly clean and massive

Staff are friendly and very helpful throughout the hotel

Kids club is excellent. Couldn't fault it at all..!!

Thomson reps Kristina & Phil very cheery & helpful.

All in all, a very good family hotel with excellent facilities.

Room Tip: If you've not paid extra for a sea view, ask for a high room with the numbers 54-60 and you shou...

We had a week here at the beginning of the Summer Holidays, great hotel and service. Rooms were spotless and of good quality with nice views from the Balcony. We received great service from Cristina who is the rep for Thomsons, always friendly and full of good advise. The only minor was that the food was a little bland but nothing that a bit of salt and pepper wouldn't fix! We kept the holiday pounds off by walking up and down the big hill 4 times a day which was a plus, beat the bus every time!

Travelled as a family with two children (12 and 6) for 11 nights at the end of July into early August.

On arrival you are greeted by an impressive reception area and atrium. A few fish swimming in the water with the plants and giant bird cages creating a feeling of being outside. Check in was long because of the queue but once checked in the room was ready and it was only 1130 in the morning. This really helped to get the most out of the first day. We also managed to find a sun bed beyond lunch time which was good, although the only way to get a good spot is to get the towels on the beds well before 9.00 am.

The room was well appointed and spacious. Super air con and tonnes of wardrobe space. The balcony was also an impressive size. A deposit (but no charge) is required for the TV handset, but the safe was free. Although the hotel is all inclusive, the fridge and kettle in the small kitchen area are really handy. Our room was number 726 with both pool views and sea views.

The pool and surrounding area isn't the biggest for the size of the hotel, but everyone seems to fit. This space is supplemented by the beach club serving 3 hotels that are part of Holiday World, which is 5 minutes walk away or accessed by a very short free coach ride, ideal for coming back up the hill. Book to eat in the Beach Club at reception the day before you want to go. Back to the pool area, there is a quiet section set back from the hotel near the crazy golf. Good if you want a little peace and quiet from all the pool side action.

In terms of food, there is the main buffet restaurant. Eating outside is great with lovely views over the the Med. We experienced very few queues and ate about 8.00 ish at night. The later you eat, the busier it gets. There are two themed restaurants which can be booked first thing in the morning of the day you wish to eat. The Italian restaurant was great, although the experience in Wok was about average and, disappointingly, self service. During the day there is a pool side bar serving drinks and a limited snack bar serving the typical fast food and a token offering of salad and fruit. Take a break from the pool and eat in the restaurant at lunch is my advice. Lots of fresh food and salads, along with the cooked hot offering if you prefer. All inclusive was very good value, although Cava was not included, which is a first for Spain.

If you like to exercise, there is a gym that you can use free of charge. It is only small, but caters for the few like me that can't take a break on holiday from the fitness regime. Also helps keep off the inevitable extra all inclusive pounds you can bring back with you.

There is also a Kid's club. We have never used them previously, but my 6 year old daughter loved it and we had to persuade her to come back to us for some of the day. It is safe and really professionally operated. They don't simply leave the children to play but have a great schedule of activities for them. In fact the whole entertainment team work really hard. Evening entertainment is OK, but more Butlins than Las Vegas I am afraid.

Avoid the shop other than for newspapers and water as it is very expensive.

Finally the staff in the hotel are excellent. Treat them well and respectfully and they will do the same to you. I needed a doctor overnight for for my son who developed a bout of tonsillitis. They organised everything for me.

Will we return is always to question, which is a clear "yes". The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 are quite minor:

Improve the variety of food at the pool side bar
Get Cava on the all-inclusive
Invest a little more in the entertainment

Room Tip: 726 or nearby on the same side

We stayed at the Polynesia in July 2011 and 2010 when our daughter was 12. Its an excellent hotel the rooms are big with two double beds a lounge and kitchen. We went ai and the food was lovely. The holiday village was great and it was free to get in. The entertainment in the night was not very good but by now it might have changed and got better. The staff work very hard and are great with the children. The only downfall is it was on a hill. They did run a free bus down and up but i think it finished at 6oclock so if you like to go out for the evening you would have to catch the bus at the bottom or get a taxi. We didnt go out as we loved the hotel and surroundings so much we stayed there. This is by far the nicest hotel we have stayed in and hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool it had a lovely view
