“Nice holiday but probably wouldn't return”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2011

We stayed for two weeks all inclusive. This was our first holiday abroad with our 5 and 3yr olds and our first holiday abroad in 7yrs. My 60yr old mother also came with us - we had two rooms.

Reception and foyer area really nice. Service received by receptionist really good - overall throughout the holiday the service received at reception desk was good.

The rooms were decorated o.k. The facilities in the room were good. Two large sized single beds and a large sofa bed. The kitchen well-equipped and had a fridge with small freezer bit at the top. The bathroom had a bath, bidet, toilet, two sinks, shower cubicle and shower in the bath. The room cleanliness was not great and the bathroom was really disgusting. The floor was covered in hair and dirt and this is probably the only reason why I wouldn't go back there. Also, around the outside of the toilet and the bottom of the bidet was dirt and wee stains which is completely unacceptable for whichever star rating in a hotel. There were quite a few hairs around the sinks and also in the bath. (Fortunately I had taken my antibac wipes!!)

The location isn't great as it's in between Benalmadena and Fuengirola but the courtesy bus down to the bottom of the complex is excellent and there are bus stops at the bottom of the hill in both directions and the bus only costs 1.25E. We did get a taxi to Fuengirola one evening which cost 15E each way, so not that cheap. The buses do get very busy and they seem to cram lots of people in standing up - the kids thought it was great!

The hotel is the smallest one of the three which we liked as it's less impersonal. The kids club was great and the kids couldn't wait to go everyday to see Nani, Leti and Daniel. All the entertainers work really hard. The shows in the evening are good - although the volume is loud and could do with turning down a little! The kids disco is great fun and finishes at 10pm, then they present certificates to people and kids who have won games during the day and then it's the adult entertainment. Jasmine does a really great job of co-ordinating everything. There is live music in the bar everynight too from 9pm - this wasn't great!

The pool is really nice although the water temperature was quite cold. It has two shallow ends and a deeper bit in the middle. It is tended everyday by Juan the Lifeguard who is lovely and very attentive to the kids. The Beach Club had good facilities although we didn't eat there. The water is the pools was quite chilly too. The hotel has a lovely indoor pool but this was also cold! They supply beach towels and you are given vouchers to get towels upon arrival. The girl working in the indoor pool is lovely and very friendly.

The restaurant and bar staff were all professional and nice. The food in the restaurant was great, lots of choice and plenty of fresh fruit. The choice of drinks were also great with brand names such as Smirnoff, Bacardi, Ballantines whiskey, London Gin and J&B.

We weren't aware of anybody being ill during our two week stay with bugs or anything and no-one poo'ed in the pool.

Overall I probably wouldn't return purely due to the cleanliness of the room however, we did have a lovely time despite that and we certainly weren't bored staying for two weeks.

Have read other reviews - they must have stayed at a different hotel! I stayed with my wife and two young children. The staff were always courteous and helpful. The pool was clean. I noticed a damaged grille poolside which was repaired by the next day. The food was typical all inclusive fayre - plentiful, with variety (may get bored if I stayed 2 weeks but I'd survive). We couldn't get into our room one day and the maintenance man was at the door before we'd caught the lift back upstairs! The beach club was superb (food even better) - a minibus runs regularly to ferry you up/down. Evening entertainment varied, the kids loved it (well done to the entertainers, especially Jasmine) Plenty of alcohol - both named brands (Smirnoff, J&B whisky). No real complaints other than occasional queues for food/drink. Would most certainly go back.

On arrival, the poor receptionist was hassled by other members of staff whilst trying to book us in, consequently we were not given all the info we required, i.e towels and tv remote, safe etc. Also she only booked us in for 4 night sall inclusive not 7 which resulted in us being embarrassed by refusal into the dining hall to eat due to this, this took some sorting out!!!

The food at best was TEPID, never ever hot!!!! There were a number of guests with tummy upsets. The glasses took hours to be cleaned off tables both in and outdoors!

The location was poor, too far to walk anywhere at night or during the day.

The rooms were never ever cleaned properly, in fact I am sure in the whole week of our stay the balcony floor was never ever washed.!! Our shoer cublicle had an enormous crack in it, not very appealing!

Timeshare, don't even go there, we don't do timeshare, no of course you don't its POINTSHARE. eVERYTHING IN THIS hOLIDAYWORLD COMPLEX IS GEARED TO THE NEW POLYNESIAN HOTEL, they have everything whilst the poor relatives, the Village Hotel and the Palace have nothing really.

The staff at the Palace are lovely but overworked (and I would suspect underpaid) but they are overworked and the hotel is understaffed!!!!!!!

Around the pool there are cracked and dangerous areas, the birds have a field day pooiing everywhere, the poolside is never ever washed down nor are the sunbeds!! In our week I never once saw anyone doing a pool test!

We went to the beach 2/3 days to get away!! However, on our return we found our room door had been left open, luckily nothing had been taken, but our grandson had nightmares over it for the next few days! Management attitude, well we looked on our CCTV and no one went near your room!!! Oh so that's fine then!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Hotel is amazing, the staff are fantastic and the entertainers are BRILLIANT unless they pull you up to do a dance number in Grease embarrasing but fun :), the cleaners are in all the time and is spotless.
Food is nice if you like seafood if not they have a salad table, pizza and chips sometimes they will have chicken nuggets and seafood soup and vegitable soup all week.
Staff Service was slow though!!!!!!
Deffo going back next year though, because the hotel is small and bases around children the entertainers have more time to get to know the children

Nice clean room..however the bathroom had long black hair in the bath which didnt belong to my clan. Great for the grand kids they loved the water park and the pool area..the night entertainment for adults was garbage..on the Thursday night I thought i was sat in a funeral parlour listening to the guy in his red trousers playing on the organ..The shuttle bus to the main entrance was great however after 6pm you either had to walk up the neverending climb or get a taxi to the top.Top marks go to the kids club entertainers...

Stayed 1st week in May 2011 all inclusive with Thomas Cook. Warning. Be careful if you think this hotel is only for families. On Thursday Friday and Saturday evenings a 25 strong Irish rugby club stag party arrived along with an English Hen party. Their loud behaviour and foul language was not suitable for children and effectively made the hotel pool and other areas unsuitable. Loud noise went on until 7am. We went as a party of seven which included 2 grandparents and 3 young children. It was only 25% full at the the time and not sure if we would want to be there in July/August when it is packed. Rooms were spacious with large balcony and included kitchen with cooker, fridge and microwave. Basic food shop in hotel. Not that that was necessary because choice of food was very good. Water park about 1000m away also was also all inclusive with good food at lunchtime. Hopper bus runs every 5mins between hotel and water park. Bus journey at 1.40E can get you to nearby towns but they were generally full and some don't stop.

we loved the hotel the staff were 1st class.& reception staff were fantastic. as most of the staff were, would not hesitate to return , i allways stay i 5 star hotels & the holiday palace is better than some 5star hotels we have stayed in, this hotel is part of holiday word, whitch there are 3 hotels ( the holiday village.whitch is a 1st choice resort ) apart from it being closer to the beach club we did not find any diffrence in the hotels, ROOMS were immaculate with kitchen full bathroom seprate bedroom sitting area big balcony with table & 4 chairs, FOOD, was really nice, plenty of choice , i would recommend this hotel it is great value 4 money. we will be booking the holiday palace again,
