“Amazing hotel, food, activities, staff and Thomson Reps.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

I am dubious after reading reviews but this place was amazing. Best hotel ever stayed in.i have gluten allergy and the chef catered for me.the food was varied and there is do much to choose from, you are seated at tables. We had a sea view and waking up to that was superb. I could of been in Antigua from our view. A bus stops outside to take you into benalmadena. If you get off by the windmill roundabout you will be by the beach. Shame so many touts trying to sell you things but worth a visit. Had everything we needed at hotel, room was bit smokey but if previous people smoked can't help that. Posh glass lots take you up and down to your room. The Irish bar is on level -2. They hire you towels for nothing and you have towels in your room. The single beds are huge. Tv and hair dryer in rooms. Across the bridge is dinner rooms and another pool and jacuzzi area. You can hire rings for 6 euros each but with 26 euro deposit you get back after you return them. One slide with wave pool. Free drinks and food like tuna salad, chips, burgers, hot dogs, ice creams, coke, fanta etc. the Thomson reps work very hard to entertain the kids. I took my 13 yr old and she only joined in last few days so they don't hassle you unless u want to join in. Daily pool side quiz. Lots sun loungers thou suspect in school holidays very busy prob best to go in term time. I would go back tomorrow if I could. I went with my mum and 13 yr old. Ages vary lots little kids, but also older families. Could get noisy but expected that. Was never unbearable. Have shop in hotel and kettle in room. Even had 2 bottles of water in fridge when arrived. Massage chairs in reception are 1 euro a go and worth trying. Also spa under hotel. You will not be disappointed and if u do have a problem the reps will help you like me with my diet issues. Dean the rep sorted it within couple hours for me. Don't be scared to ask if have any queries, attend the welcome meeting. The place is clean and bins emptied regularly around the main pool. Main pool has life guards on duty til 6 pm. Highly recommend this hotel.

Got an excellent deal for a 4 night getaway at Holiday World Palace. We arrived late at night, check in was smooth and the bar (thank goodness) had a couple cheese sandwiches left. The hotel lobby is really cool. The hanging vines and water features are beautiful. Our junior suite was clean clean clean but sadly the well equipped bathroom smelled like sewage for some reason. The rest of the suite was perfect for our needs- double beds in the bedroom and a crib in the living plus the mini-kitchen was great. The balcony was lovely as well. The amenities for children were great, playground, mini golf, - we were all inclusive so the beach club was part of our deal. Our 2 year old loved the splash pad and wading pools. The water was COLD so on the cooler days we spent time at the indoor pool where the water was a little warmer. Strange that we needed to buy bathing caps, but we adapted. The food was a disappointment, particularly breakfast but I guess, given what we paid, I can't complain too much. We made reservations one of the days for the restaurant at the beach club. It was marginally better but nothing special. The drinks were decent and over all service was above average. Would be interested to try the Polynesian Resort.

This large holiday complex is situated on the coast road between Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Although a little bit isolated, the nearby resorts are only a couple of miles away and easy to get to by bus or train, and there is also a local beach close by. The balconies are spacious and the sea views from the front facing rooms are excellent. The facilities provided at the hotel are many and varied and there is plenty to keep children happy all of the time. The food was primarily buffet style and nothing special, but considering it is being provided on a massive scale it was acceptable in both quantity and quality. Don't turn up at the dining room within the last half hour of any meal time as the remaining food is already being cleared away. The main public area's are well appointed, clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and well equipped but are now in need of some refurbishment as the furniture is looking old, tired and outdated.

Room Tip: Depends when you want the sun on your balcony - in the morning go for west wing rooms or in the afte...

Holiday Palace is one of four "Holiday World" hotels that make up the complex which is situated approx midway between Benalmadena & Fuengirola. Airport taxi transfers are around €30-35 each way and take 30mins.

Holday Palace is a spacious, quite well appointed, hotel which does the basics well without one ever feeling a "wow" factor. Reception is large, airy and welcoming and the staff are smiley and courteous. It was disappointing that the remainder of the guest areas were so devoid of natural light. Neither the restaurant or the main bar have any natural light to speak of and this impacts on the feel-good factor in both.

We booked a Junior Suite which also included a well equiped kitchen area. It should be noted that only basic provisions can be purchased on site and that any alternative shopping requirements are a car/taxi ride away. This is a major drawback for those opting for a self catering option. We were on an All Inclusive basis and as such it had little impact. The Junior Suite has a separate lounge area as well as a balcony with table and chairs. It was all clean and well maintained. On our last night we enquired about the Full Suite option and were upgraded for €25 which was very reasonable. The Full Suite has panoramic views, a much larger balcony area with sofas while the lounge area is larger than that in the Junior Suite. Keys for the room safe are available for €2.50 per day.

The solitary restaurant is quite basic but adequate which is probably a fair description of the food as well. It's not going to win any gourmet awards but the fayre will provide something to satisfy the palates of most guests.

The solitary bar is disappointing, it lacks soul and doesn't seem to know whether it's trying to be a tapas bar or Irish type bar and as a consequence it falls in the middle somewhere. There is an outside area but it is not welcoming and has very limited views. The beers and spirits are of an acceptable standard but the wines, (white, red & rose) were dreadful...which was a shame. Matters were compounded by the on site shop only selling the same House Wines :(

Entertainment was provided each night and the quality of the magician and flamenco dancers was good. The children's disco doesn't start until 9.30pm which is far too late when most of the children appeared to be in the 3-7 age group. The knock on effect was that the adult entertainment kicks off around 10.30 which, again, is a bit late...especially when the room had a bar that wasn't open, in a room below ground with no natural light or fresh air. It would be more suited to meetings and conferences.

The pool area was well maintained and water quality and cleanliness of a high standard. Quite why the pool bar doesn't open unti midday is somewhat baffling and smacks of under staffing.
The jewel in the complex crown is the small waterpark which guests of all three hotels can use for free. It comprises of pools, mini waterfalls, pirate ship, slides as well as a large buffet style cafeteria which offers luch for those who've prebooked a table (24hrs notice required). The Waterpark is accessed via a very regular shuttle bus (10-15min max wait) for the 5min transfer. There is a steep hill which will put off all but the most ardent walkers.

In summary, this is a good standard hotel offering an acceptable standard of food and accommodation. Its location means that you need a car or taxi to go anywhere and as it costs €12-15 each way into Benalmadena, this can mount up. The marina in Benalmadena is worth a stroll around. Be aware that the architecture has a heavily North African influence and unfortunately so do the shop/cafe owners who constantly try and badger you into their premises. It's quite souk-esque in many respects. We can recommend one particular restaurant, "Metro" which has polite staff, an extensive menu and high quality food.

We visited another of the hotels in the complex, Holiday Polynesia, and this was even darker inside but appeared to offer more dining options as well as much more interior space.

Nice concept, location is a significant drawback.

The staff in the hotel were so good nothing was to much for them from telling you places to go ,or calling a taxi, the room we cleaned every day,and because our room was not ready when we got to the hotel they put us in a better room with a sea view so nice.

Room Tip: We stayed in a one bed apartment was so good.

We have just got back from spending 4 days here, we stayed all inclusive in a junior suite the room size was fantastic it had a bedroom with two double beds in and a large lounge area would have preferred a double pull out bed in the room for the children so you can have some privacy but it was only a single pull out bed, had bath and shower and a kitchen with all appliances. The food was the same as you get at most Spanish all inclusives mediocre but there was plenty available if you don't mind trying stuff and also there was always food for kids if you have fussy eaters beans chips nuggets pizza, good choice at breakfast full English available if you don't mind eating it cold!! That was the downside breakfast was always cold. The all inclusive drinks were good the beer was not crap like you get at some places. The decor of hotel is nice and modern.you can have access to the water park over the road I personally wouldn't call it a water park one decent slide and a wave pool which you require rubber rings for and you have to pay to get a ring. Evening entertainment not much good as it wasn't in main bar it was in a room downstairs and there was no bar well actually there was but it was closed this maybe due to the time of year, also it's aimed at small children under 10's but it does not start while 10pm bit late for younger ones. There is mini golf and table tennis and a small park. The pool was freezing when we were there again prob due to it being early may it made it unbearable to stay in for long water park was the same! Lots do do on the costa del sol if u want to explore we took a taxi to PUerton Banus £45 euro but well worth to see how the other half live! Also we went to tovoli theme park in Belamadina again aimed at under 12's but good few hours fun can be had. Staff really friendly which made the stay a lot better. I was glad we went and would go again but only for a short break as not a lot to do in the hotel and my boys are 10 and 13 so a little harder to please.80% of the guests were Spanish.
