Check in was completed swiftly, although we suddenly realised that actually it wasn't all inclusive as we'd been led to believe. We had to pay a deposit to use the television in the room and pay to use the safe in our room. Furthermore the welcome info they give you suggests there are further restaurants you can use as part of the holiday world complex, but actually you have to pay for these too.
Once we had dropped our luggage off at our room, we made our way down to the buffet (we arrived late) to experience our first meal at the hotel. On entering, the hostess seemed annoyed that we were there at 9.45 (last entry to buffet is at 10pm) and although we mentioned that we had just arrived she passed comment "you're a bit late aren't you?" food was way below average. Cold, tasteless and during the rest of the week, we paid to get out to eat, it was that bad! Breakfast was the same, although the one thing I found after a week that was edible and passed as reasonable were the pancakes (if you've already booked, I'd recommend these). Food poolside is soggy, stodgy and if you're a vegetarian, look forward to losing weight. Choice of chips or chips!
The pictures on the Internet suggest that all the pools with the pirate ship are part of the hotel, hence why we booked (for our five year old), but we had to get the bus, albeit a short ride, to the water park. You'd be lucky to find any loungers and to be honest, there was nothing special there. The children weren't allowed to ride the water slides (had to be 1.2m) - again the reason we booked the hotel. We booked the beach club restaurant (twenty-four hours in advance otherwise you have to pay for snacks there) in the anticipation that we may actually have some nice food - again MASSIVELY disappointed.
Rooms ok, clean on arrival, but not particularly well cleaned during the stay. We asked if we could have a room with a double bed, as our room had separate beds and we were told that this is a "family hotel" What, parents aren't allowed to sleep in the same bed?? YET, poolside, they are happy to throw in rap music along with the mainly Spanish music with references to sex, drugs and a lot of swearing. Go figure!!
Children's entertainment was average and geared very much to the Spanish. Children's disco didn't start until 9.30 and the adults entertainment was little to get excited about. Oh, and if you fancy a drink after midnight (when they switch off all the lights even on your own balcony), you have to pay for it.
You can't walk into the local towns, so you have to get a taxi which will cost about 10 Euros each way.
Overall, we would not book this hotel again. I don't feel it deserves the four star rating it has, and needs some attention to warrant the rates they charge.

Firstly, the majority of the pictures of the pool area are of the beach club, this is also true of the Jet 2 brochure. Although only a short courtesy bus ride away it is followed by a walk to the pool area. With three young children, pram rubber rings in tow and all the towels was just too much for us and as such, we only ventured twice. Both times were great but very busy. you can use the AI for drinks but if you want food you need to book the day before at the HP and can only have lunch there. Bar snacks are not included.

The Holiday palace is very much a holiday location for the Spanish and the hotel caters for them very well.

I have to say that the food was shocking, a huge choice but always cold and not great quality. I'm guessing that it was all frozen. We experienced strawberries that were soggy yet frozen in the middle and sea food that was tough or soggy and after a couple of tries, gave it a miss. Paella that either tasted of nothing or salt and a variety of stews or braided meats that managed to be stone cold and have no taste what so ever.

Moaning done. Wall to wall sunshine, friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. Great pool area, even in the height of the summer holidays always a sun lounger of three free and even better, at siesta time, due to the volume of Spanish holiday makers the pool emptied. The rooms were spacious and kept clean. Family of five had no issue with the space although we were in their for minimal time due to the weather. The air con was a must as the room we had (404) had the sun first thing in the morning and it was baking. The shop was ok and had lots of snacks, sweets and stuff for the kids. the amusements were again ok and kept the kids happy but emptied my wallet.

The evening entertainment didn't start until 9:30 (kids disco), this was just too late for us and again an example of catering for the Spanish. The rest of the evening entertainment was so so.

I cant say we would rush back but still had a great time with the exception of the food (don't think I have mentioned that it was AWFULL)

Dear Tony,

We thanks every one of the comments has sent through his opinion in this website while I let her know that I made known to each department affected them to keep working and improving every day to customers like you.

In case with the food we wished we would have gone directly in the hotel or to our site to see what were the problems to which it refers exactly.

Yet we rejoice that the summary of his visit is positive enough to consider returning next year.

Regards,

We stayed for seven nights in a Dinoland suite which was absolutely great for a family with a seven year old child.
The apartment consisted of a large bedroom with two beds, a lounge withTV, play station and dining table. There was also a reasonably equipped kitchen and a large bathroom.
The room was comfortable and in a quiet part of the hotel.
We had booked all-inclusive. The food was of the highest standard with plenty of choice.
The staff are very polite and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
We used the Beach club every day and it was fantastic. Our daughter also enjoyed the Children's club.
There was a childrens disco every night followed by live entertainment. The only negative side was that the children's disco doesn't start until 9.30 and the live entertainment starts after 10.30 - it's a shame that it starts so late.
We would definitely recommend The Holiday Palace and intend staying again next year for 14 nights.

I saw this hotel when staying in Benalmadena last year but we stayed somewhere else. Can somebody tell me if the kid's club will be open in October half term? Thomas Cook is not answering the phone in the UK - no a good sign! Half term in the UK is the last week of October/first week of November. Also- what are the hours of the kid's club each day? And is the Kid's Club free of charge if we book bed and breakfast? Or does it have it be evening meal as well? Will there be evening entertainment for adults and children at that time? Our flights are already booked but we are choosing between this and the Benalmadena Hotel we stayed in in February, The Benalmadena Palace Aparthotel. The kids club was open all day here and in the evening in Febrauary so we know we will be okay on late October. Thanks, Joy.

Room Tip: It was closed when I looked in last Feb but it looked amazing so I would like to visit this hotel. But not with bored kids, as the location is quite isolated.

Dear Sir,
In answer to your question I have to report that our hotel will remain open until October 31, which day to keep our mini club open to all children (from four years old) in all-inclusive service.
Likewise, each night there will be entertainment for adults and children's mini disco.
I also would like to inform you that if you are interested in a longer stay can perform the same at the Hotel Polynesia in our same complex and with similar characteristics.
I hope I've helped.
Please contact us directly if you have any further questions arise, you can find our contact details on the website of Holiday World.
Best regards.

Stayed at the Holiday Palace from 17th July to 24th July AI family of 5 (Myself, my husband and boys aged 13, 4 and 1) The hotel is apart of the Holiday World group, so within the resort is the Polynesian and Holiday Village. The resort is set slightly on a hill and is closed off with security on the resort gates, which i found quite odd when my mam and sister came to visit. That aside what a week we had! The reps are Spanish but very good at what they do, they encourage people to get involved without being too "in your face". My three boys (even the baby) got involved in water games and enjjoyed some of the evening entertianment. If it was a little warm the children could go indoor in the soft play which was a welcome cooling off period for them.
The Hotel itself is fabulous - the restaurant is excellent, however there was alot of fish on offer all of which was delciious though! the boys loved the chocolate fountaina nd having pancakes made and the fact they could drink as much fizzy pop and eat as much ice cream made them happy! The hotel is lovely, spotless and the rooms very good - however they are not as "flash" as the pictures suggest which was disappointing. the bathroom on the other hand was huge with 2 showers 9??) which proved useful on an evening.
Another good feature was there was always the opportunity to get food or drink, there is designated times to eat but you can always get a sandwich from the bar or outdoor pool bar - fab !
We visited the Polynesian hotel which was gorgeous but HUGE. The AI doesnt work here but you can visit and use the facilities.
The water park is a short walk (5minutes) and there is a shuttle bus avaialble every 10minutes. The pirate ship is great but freezing, and the rets of the water park is just so much fun! we visitied nearly every morning and spent the rest of the afternoon at the hotel! You can use your AI here but need to book into the restaurant the day before as it gets so busy
Major downside for us was it was too far out to go for a walk which we really enjoy doing. we did get a taxi to benalmedena marina which was fab and lots to do, lovely places to eat but im not going to lie EXPENSIVE £13 for a margherita. Nice for a treat though
all in a ll a fantatsic holiday and id return tomorrow !!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are fine !
