We are stopping here this week... We are 3 adults and 1 child.
This is my honest review.... This is very much an average hotel, i personally would class it as a 3 star and not 4... The rooms are spacious and clean although there is a serious ant problem on the balconies and outside areas. The food at the pool is dreadful, selling cold burgers and greasy chips. The staff are friendly.
The bar and drinks are pricey paying 2.50euros for a glass of coke poured from a 1 ltr bottle!
The bar in the evening usually has 1or2 staff behind which usually results in a que of @ 5 people in a line waiting to be served.
I stay in only 4 & 5 * hotels which is why i think this would be a 3.
Very good value to stay here, and good for families if they choose the all inclusive.... But dont think you are going to get the luxury of a 4*.

Dear Ms. Gemma, thank you for choosing our hotel and the time invested in their comments.
The category of the hotel is given by public institutions, and they are both based on the physical characteristics of the establishment as for the services provided, and we are audited on a regular basis.
We are a hotel specializing in all-inclusive.
In your case seems coming in self catering, for comments he has made. If you order a burger and this is served cold (are made at the time at the snack bar because the buffet was not yet open) asks the waiter to you from another. I feel if this happened to you.
Thank you for the comment on the staff, certainly, there are moments that might be queues at some point, that we are trying to solve, and we will continue to work at this point.

Best Regards

We had a fantastic time in the easter week at the Holiday Palace. The staff is so lovely and treated so great our little boy. We were there in all-inclusiv and had everything you could wish. There was plenty of food and drinks all the time and our son was crazy about the ice cream at the snackbar, which was open the whole day. We had one of the dino rooms, which we enjoyed a lot. The room was like a little apartment and we had a direct view on the mountains and the Minigolf. Cleaners came every day, so when we came back from the pool everthing was nice and cosy. I have to say that we had a absolutly funtime. Our little one was the whole day in the KidsClub and so we could enjoy our time at the pool and had also some funny games. At the end we just went once down to the waterpark to see the elephants, but looks also really good. Thanks again to all the staff for being so friendly, helpful and just amazing. We will defently visit you again. See you in 2015

4*Star Accommodation - Although the room was kept clean and tidy, I could find anything to indicate why this would be a categorised as a 4* hotel. I have stayed in many 3* hotels which have far more variety of amenities than the Holiday Palace had to offer. This doesn’t deserve 4* status.

Food - The quantity and variation was pleasing but the quality to taste was disappointing. The soup was awful and the meats contained plenty of gristle. The burgers and sausages were light in appearance and we were not sure if this had been cooked thoroughly. The paella cooked near the pool was excellent, yet in the restaurant was of a much lower standard. For one of our days we opted for a picnic the day we went to the beach only to find the bread not wrapped very well leaving the bread stale and the apples were aged and bruised we had to throw it all away and purchase our food elsewhere. On the second day my son experienced stomach upsets and on the fifth day he was violently ill and complained about stomach upsets all evening, I cannot tell for sure if this is related.

Drinks - Drinks were limited to locally produced drinks, this was understood at time of booking this hotel. What was frustrating was the majority of wines were not included; these had to be paid for separately. Red, white and rose were available but were revolting. In a wine producing country our expectations of variety and standards were set high as we purchase Spanish wine in the UK regularly, but here at the Holiday Palace we were to be very disappointed. Please also note that wines being poured into glasses each evening for guests to help themselves but it was observed that generally no-one was drinking these. Water and sangria was the most popular drinks at dinner time. A mohito (which was served on tap) also had to be paid for.

Bottled water was not provided until we asked into our third day of the holiday, (note we had to ask, we were never offered). We were explained that a bottle (a litre and half) would be provided on the first day only and then guest would have to pay or fill up from the jugs in the bar, not quite 4* accommodation. Again, none of this is expected in an All Inclusive program. We never got the complimentary water until day 6.

Water Park - At the water park drinks can be consumed but food had to be paid for. This was a concept my wife and I could not understand. For lunch we had to return to the hotel and then back to the park losing our place at the park each time we left.

The pools at the park were so cold that my children and my wife would not go in, clearly not a heated pool. Furthermore, there weren’t any others that could not brave these conditions; it was a shame to see empty pools with people lying on beds beside them and no-one using them. The only water slide at the park was not part of the All Inclusive program, a charge for the inflatable rings was required.

Hotel Pools - Similar to the Water Park the water was very cold and put off myself and many other guests from going in. The pool inside the hotel charged for swimming caps, again not part of the All Inclusive program.

The Steam room and Sauna was not part of the All Inclusive package, a charge of five Euros per sessions was required. A massage service was required, again this required a charge, but in fairness as labour is involved this is expected.

Kids Club - The Kids Club and Entertainment was the two biggest and most important things my wife and I look for in All Inclusive package. Our children are now of a certain age where we are prepared to let them have some independence and a little time away from their parents. The kids club here at the Holiday Palace consists of a small room with a climbing frame and some tables for children to draw. There is nothing about ‘club’ here, allowing parents to have some time away from the children so that some quality could be spent together.

Hotel Room - TV in the room was limited to three UK channels all of which showed the news only. The sports screen near the bar showed UK football with Spanish commentary.

Air Conditioning was ineffective in the room, we choose to leave the balcony doors open rather than wait a considerable time to cool off. Rooms for some reason we very hot even though the temperature outside was moderate.

A hi-fi system is advertised as feature in the room but no-one was able to locate it. (note not a big deal to us).

Facilities and Activities - The facilities and activities at this hotel have the worst I’ve ever had to endure. This is the first All Inclusive that myself and my family were often bored during the day and found it difficult to pass the time. Not being able to make good use of the pools, only mini-golf was the only attracting facility for a family. We found ourselves spending more time in our rooms rather than keeping ourselves entertained.

In the evening the entertainment is probably best described as dreadful. Live Entertainment is billed for each evening at 9pm, which consists of a singer in the bar, a musician or sometimes nothing at all. At least on three occasions there was no entertainment. In the lower bar, this had been billed as shows of which karaoke was one of them and the others I am not really sure what I observed. Sub standard entertainment was the phrase that was shared amongst the other guests. Please note that the hotel staff that performed the acts did their utmost, and this is not being questioned here rather than the lack of professional good quality shows which is standard these days eg like in the Polynesia and the Village. My wife watched just two shows and her disgust never bothered again and simply stayed in the room with the children. In the room at 9.30pm each evening is not a sign of great evening entertainment. The Holiday Palace part of the Holiday World group seemed to exclude this hotel from their entertainment and facilities program.

Pool side snack bar - This contained many snacks but again not everything was part of the All Inclusive program, again disappointing that we have to be excluded.

Internet access - Again, another charge for this service. Twelve Euros a day for WIFI and this was limited to the bar area only. Incredible, this is like going back 10 years and is a shame for a seemingly modern in design hotel.

Other hotels - There are three other hotels in the complex: Polynesia, Village and Hydos. Both Polynesia and Village have activities all through the days and the entertainment was described by their guests as brilliant. Everything in their hotels was part of the All Inclusive package and there were no other further charges. All hotels within the complex are owed by Holiday World but other guest (Holiday Palace guest) we not allowed to use each the facilities at these hotels.

The facilities and activities offered by either the Polynesia or the Village were what my wife and I believed to be what we had paid and signed up for. How frustrating to be in the same complex and having to endure a lower standard than these nearby hotels.

Furthermore, guest staying at these hotels paid substantially less than us. Some guest got two weeks for what we paid for one week at the Holiday Palace which as you can imagine simply left us fuming.

Staff - The bar and restaurant staff were really helpful and it was a pleasure to talk and order beverages. The hotel manager was very helpful and accommodating but only when he was available. It is appreciative how busy a manager can be and cannot be located all the time, this we accept. However the reception staff were not as helpful, made us wait while they either finished whatever admin was required at the desk or in a small room near reception ie leaving reception unmanned, reception staff spent considerable time with fellow nationals, moreso than UK, it seemed that we were second rate and in the way. Also staff could not assist us with general issues, lacked basic local knowledge of the area, ie unable to provide directions to markets, closest pharmacy, even recommended a beach etc. Medical assistance is nothing more than offering a taxi ride (at our expense) to a pharmacy in the next town, this was observed with my children and other guests children who were also in need of some assistance.

It would appear that this hotel is very popular with Spaniards and that UK nationals were equally distributed between the Polynesia and the Village making it feel that we were in the wrong hotel.

Shuttle Transfer - Shuttle transfer on the way to the hotel was first rate, no issues here. We were collected and safely dropped off at our hotel. On our return to the airport we waited, as per Shuttle Company’s instruction, in the foyer at 2.15pm, waiting for collection at 2.35pm, after waiting 15 minutes as advised, we then contacted the shuttle company who had no details of our return, even though their reference numbers were quoted back to them. Eventually a bus arrived collected us at 3.30pm and we got to the airport at the airport at 4.00pm, flight 5.05pm. We became extremely anxious that we may miss our flight. Fortunately we just made the bag drop and then had to rush to the gate which added further stress at the end of our holiday.

Hi all, just been reading some of the reviews for the hotel for the same week I stayed in the hotel with my husband and all I can say everyone entitled to their own opinions. I am a return visitor to the holiday world complex, have stayed in the Polynesia twice and this time booked into the palace, ok, I have stayed in lots of all inclusive hotels infact i would go on holiday in any other way, i found the palace, comfortable, clean, very friendly staff, all over the hotel, nothing was to much, food was plentiful by the end of the week i had had enough eating and drinking ha ha but that certainly has no bearing on the quality, plenty of tasty food, massive plus is that you can now also eat all inclusive in the fantastic beach club which is a major plus, while we were there we wet into the vip area of beach club for two days highlight of our holiday, we had been there a few days and we joined the holiday plus letting them know it was our third trip, an hour later we got a letter under our door, with offers, free wifi, discount in shop etc, also the next evening a knock on the door with a bottle of champage and a plate of goodies from reception, fantastic place, just planning our next trip in september

touch of the soviet about this place, lacks ambience and customer awareness, if you did not want to pay 14 euros for a buffet breakfast, which was not of good quality, there was no alternative cafe to just have a coffee or snack , the bar did not open until 5pm and was dingy and the furniture needed replacing.
Accomodation was good but lacked basic essentials such as teatowels etc.
The hotel is not in Bellamedina so you have to get a bus if you want to have some activity or just to enjoy the seafront or many good restaurants in the town.everything on offer had a charge, even to use the tv.
First and last visit to this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for higher floor, less noise.

First of all I would like to thank that you chose our hotel to spend a few days holiday and that you bothered to write his appreciations of the hotel.
The Palace hotel is a holiday hotel where typically have families with children, understand is difficult to check at all times that they do not play by the facilities,

At all points where we serve meals in the hotel, they are governed by state sanitary regulations and we are governed by standards of quality of our hotels, in many cases these standards.

Kind Regards

Complex has beautiful setting within the hills and about 15 minutes to the beach. The hill does become and issue in the heat if you are up and down at the beach all day carrying things as the shuttle bus although regular finishes at 6pm. Hotel is not equipped well for Self Catering. Basic kitchen utensiles lacking like bottle opener, not even a tea towel cloth, wine glass etc. We did not realise there is no supermarket nearby so ended up buying expensive groceries for the mini mart a bit of a walk away as couldnt have managed any more bags with the hilly walk back. Hotel has some essentials in the mini market but is very expensive. Location is far out. Nearer to Feungorila than Benelmadena so for eating out we got the bus most nights which is cheap but sometimes frustrating as for us holidays are all about walking along the prom at night and being in the thick of it. The location is fine if you want to hang around the hotel but you do feel a bit isolated. For this reason i would only go if you were all inclusive as the facilities are good and plenty for families and kids. The resturant and bar are all indoors which i would be really disappointed in as i like eating outside in the fresh air watching the sun go down. It looked like you were eating in a shopping mall to be honest which is a shame as the views were amazing. It was noisy at night with the design, Hydros adult only pool we were allowed to use and was pure luxury. Ate in the resturant once there which was nice but very posh, expensive, small portions! Polynesia hotel is amazing, seemed a lot more luxurious than the Palace. Village nice too but if you had option i would go Polynesia. Weather amazing and hot - can be tad chilly at night. Feungorla beach lovely and Benalmedana harbour nice too. Bus and train services quick, easy and cheap if you like to get out and do and see things.

Room Tip: Train from Airport is only 2 euro. Get off at Benalmedana then taxi to hotel was 12 euro. Taxis are...
