“Cold Food”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Just returned from a ten night stay, 2 adults 2 children. Complained twice about the food as the hot food was cold. Did not receive a reply to my complaint, so emailed the hotel on my return. Still waiting for a response.

Hotel overall was nice, let down by hot food being served cold. Benalmadena is 12 euros each way in a taxi which we did on a number of occasions to let the kids eat something as they soon got fed up eating cold food.

Dear not have Mr. Gary, received any mail in this regard, where it has sent it? On the buffet, inform you that there is a great variety of dishes, some stews with sauces and which kept the temperature properly and within the limits dictated by the law, as well as those who cooking, fried foods, rice etc. are made at the time on the show and whenever you want to and so requests, to the staff, this temperature again making the dish can be improved.
I feel that this point of our service was not to your liking

Just returned from Holiday Palace and it was an amazing hotel. Firstly and most importantly this is not a Brits abroad style hotel. This is a Spanish hotel full of Spaniards with a small group of British/Irish so it is very much aimed at the Spanish clientele. It is a very nice 4 star hotel with very good facilities and very large suites. The rooms are massive and are cleaned everyday with new towels everyday and bedding changed about every 2 days. The food is exceptional but its a Spanish hotel so the food is very much aimed at the Spanish so if you like your Sunday Roast and your "fussy" kids only eat chicken nuggets its probably not for you. The all inclusive drinks are very good and some brands are available AI but crisps, slush etc aren't. The pool is a strange experience as every day at 10am there is nobody at the pool so there isn't the usual fights for sunloungers probably due to the fact there are so few Brits but come about 3/4pm the pool becomes very busy and stays busy until 7pm. The hotel is in a compound with 3 other hotels who's facilities you can use but your AI isn't transferable. The waterpark is about a 5 minute walk downhill but there is a shuttle bus that runs about every 10mins during the parks opening hours. You can use your AI for drinks at the waterpark but you have to book to use the AI restaurant. The hotel is a few miles from the main tourist area of Benalmadena but there is a bus from opposite the main gate and cost €1.55 or €11 for a taxi.

In conclusion this is an amazing 4 star hotel but as I said earlier its not a Brits abroad hotel which is what I was looking for when I booked.

This was definetly not a 4 star hotel and I did expect more for the price I paid. On the day of my arrival a member of staff was extremley rude and arrogant in the manner that she spoke to myself, didn't give a good impression to the start of my holiday!! On the positive side all the other members of staff I dealt with were very friendly.
The food for a 4 star was pretty awful. Not much variety, repetative and not always hot. I was at a 3 star last year and the food was so much better so please improve.
Hotel was a bit far out from local shops and the marina, although there was a bus service which was great in the day it stopped at 6pm in the evening.
The entertainment was also lacking for a 4 star and most of the time entertainer spoke in Spanish first and English second. This also appeared to be the case for the kids club which put my son off going as both him and I felt there could be a language barrier. For a 4 star I was expecting much more professional acts and not games that were pretty pointless as in Cowboy Game.
On a positive note the hotel was very clean, rooms spacious and spotless and maids very pleasant. I did enjoy my holiday and think with improvements this hotel has the potential to be a 4 star but as it is just now I would not be returning at the price I paid.
I would like to commend the staff for working as hard as they do, not an easy task.

We stayed with our two girls (aged 18 & 20) self catering for one week, using 2 x 1 bed apartments. The apartments are a reasonable size but it would be a tight squeeze for 4 adults, okay if you have young children. The apartments overall are nice - clean, decently equipped, nicely decorated. There is only 2 rings, a micro-grill, toaster, kettle, fridge with ice box and a limited number of utensils etc - you can manage the basics but do really need to eat out if you want meals. The beds are clean and comfortable and the sofa bed is ok. The apartments have a balcony which is a decent size. The hotel, although busy was not noisy, the clientele was mainly Irish, Brits or Spaniards and mostly couples or families with young children. It is a clean, nicely decorated hotel - definately 4*. The overall facilities are really good - there's a wee shop (pricey), couple of bars, restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools, spa facilities, gym, kids club, launderette, hair/beauty salon and entertainment. The entertainment and activities day and night was really quite good - hard working and enthusiastic staff. Overall, the staff in this hotel are really pleasant and make you feel welcome. The hotel is a bit more expensive than some others in the area, but I would say you get what you pay for. We only ate in twice and both times the food was fine. The entertainment in the Disco Bar was good although it empties around 11, and there were activities every day for adults and kids. In terms of location, it is in a quiet area away from the main tourist areas however this means there's no problems with noise, drunken teens or the street sellers. The one down side is it is up a really steep hill and you might need transport to get to the marina etc. There are however short cuts - via the garage or the back gate which makes the walk do-able if you are reasonably fit and healthy. There are two decent supermarkets nearby, as well as Burger King, a selection of nice wee restaurants (Spanish, Mexican, Indian, Italian and British). The real beauty of this hotel is it is a place you could easily stay in all week and chill out but it is also well located for seeing the rest of the Costa del Sol, buses to Malaga, Fuengirola etc are really regular and really cheap.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms get sun in the morning until lunch time, pool facing rooms get it from the aftern...

Back a week after spending 11 days in this complex. Good clean hotel, plenty of entertainment and activities, staff were always very pleasant and only to willing to help, we could also use the sister hotels that were all situated behind a secure gated entrance (All inclusive didn't stretch to drinks etc in the other hotels but you could bring drinks over with you). Plenty to keep the kids amused ie kids club and other activities throughout the day by the pool. As has already been pointed out on other reviews there is quite a hill up to this hotel but the free shuttle bus that runs up and down between the hotels and gate entrance is great. Our room was a good size (junior guest suite) and the cleaners were in every day. The Hotel water park is good but be aware there is a charge for the hire of rings plus a deposit that is refundable on way out. Food was quite good, certainly no complaints here, there was plenty to chose from for each of the meals, it was always warm and well stocked. The snacks at the pool bar were also good with hot dogs, pizza, burgers chips etc. Kids constantly eating the wee ice cream tubs that were available they loved them these were part of the all inclusive deal. For branded lollies, crisps etc you had to pay these are not on all inclusive but that is usually how it is no matter where you go. The only downside was it is quite a bit out from both Fuengirola and Benalmadena approx 12-15 Euros each way in taxi or there are bus stops not far from the gated entrance to the complex. All in all we had a great holiday (2 adults and 2 kids) and I would certainly recommend this place as a good family destination.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival, all was sorted out in a matter of minutes. The room was large and clean with a very large balcony which was a plus. You get a separate kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge - all the utensils are included, even if you are booked in as all inclusive. We opted for a parking space in the underground garage, which was empty and kept the car cool, there is a race to find spaces on the outside so best to be sure of a space. The entrance has security and passes must be displayed on entry even in a taxi. The complex has 3 x hotels and a beach club at the seashore - there is a shuttle bus going between all the hotels every 10 mins, which considering some of the hills is a godsend, this does stop at 6pm though. I would recommend this hotel for both families and couples as there is more than enough space for all.

Room Tip: If you go into Benalmadena in the evening get a bus into the town but get a taxi back so you don'...

Pork chops 11 nights from 14 come on some variety wouldnt go a miss. The 10th birthday was excellent but only because the heirarchy where in attendance. Great hotel no problems there lovely view decent entertainment but middle of knowhere and also quite canny with all inc. Only local tubs of ice cream for kids and some dodgy poolside snacks. All ice lollies slushies crisps cist money. Not really all inc. Check your small print. Good staff particularly maria in la tahona bar and also smiley lady at pool bar. Bea h club excellent but again lots of costs especially if you dont book in advance. I wont go again but each to their own.
