We have seen this hotel on previous visits to the area and always said we would like to stay there one day. This year we did - for our wedding anniversary, and it was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, when we were early, reception were most welcoming and we were told that we could leave our bags and return later, or just wait a few minutes. We ordered a drink from the bar and explored the terraces outside and of course admired the outstanding views! Then we were shown to our room which was beautiful and with a view down the hill and to the sea - exceptional! Breakfasts were perfect and served until 11am which is later than normal in a hotel. Hotel is close to the bus routes, has enchanting walks through this beautiful pueblo; and many bars and restaurants close by for a drink / tapas or meal. The hotel has a sheltered outdoor swimming pool and spacious solarium. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on our anniversary and each of us had a different " taster menu " which was plentiful and delicious. We could not fault the food, the presentation or the service and can only highly recommend this hotel.

We booked this hotel having read the fantastic reviews but we were a bit disappointed. It is true that the hotel is spotlessly clean; there are fabulous views from the sun deck; the reception staff are very helpful and the breakfasts are good. However the pool is really quite small and the water is certainly cold when you first venture in! On arrival my husband and I were given room 109 a twin bedded room (why are double beds so hard to find) which faced the restaurant terrace and is above the plant room which emitted a faint buzz all night. We did manage to counter this by using the air conditioning, however on the second night despite the fact the restaurant closes at 11.00pm we were woken at 1.30am by laughing outside our window and discovered that one table of about 10 was still allowed to buy drinks and coffee. My husband complained to reception and although they sympathised the diners were allowed to finish their coffee and then the restaurant staff moved the tables ready for breakfast the following day. No sleep until after 2.00am and we had to be up at 6.00am the following day for a booked trip to Gibraltar! Reception did move us the following day to room 103 a quiet poolside double room but I was disappointed that this four star hotel allowed guests to be disturbed in this way. We did enjoy the remainder of our stay but if you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the restaurant and to be truthful the incident did mar our impression of this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that overlook the restaurant patio if you are a light sleeper

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights in June, and it was just perfect.
The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean.
Our room was perfect, clean, tidy and good size overlooking the pool.
The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice!
Swimming pool and pool area isn't massive, but for us, it was just fine. I can imagine if it was busier it would be difficult to get a sun lounger but it was quiet when we stayed so no issues! There are plenty of lovely restaurants around the pueblo to eat in.
The beach is a drive away, taxi or hire car, so don't stay Here if you want easy access.
If you are looking for a gorgeous hotel in the hills, this is the place to stay and we will be returning next year for sure!

Superb small hotel away from the madding crowd. Exceptionally clean, rooms lovely we had one with a balcony (supplement) not all have them. Beds are very firm! Roof terrace is a sun trap with comfy loungers, there was never a problem getting one. Super small pool in the centre courtyard, don't think it's heated, good for cooling off; sun only gets to some of the pool due to the location.
Breakfast buffet was excellent quality and set in the Escorpio restaurant, hot food such as omelettes, scrambled eggs, bacon etc will be cooked to order, we went B&B so was included in room rate.
Spa is beautiful, do ask to use it. Reception are very happy to provide you with pool towels if you ask.
Reception staff always very helpful with any local info including buses down to Benalmadena Costa which costs €1.55 single.
Location within the old village is quiet, however you step out into the square and surrounding lanes you have a very good choice of restaurants and cafe style bars where you can get a wide selection of lunches, evening meals or just drinks. All price ranges are catered for. All restaurants we went to were excellent and definitely didn't go hungry. Escorpio in the hotel do a lovely Tapas selection at lunchtimes and a more A La Carte at night which is at the higher price bracket.
The hotel is child friendly but I would say more suited to couples and adults due to hotels quiet location and the small pool area being in a courtyard setting. Teenagers would need more nightlife!
We will be back as had a super time, this hotel is a little gem, perfect for us.
