We booked a last minute 7 day holiday to the Hotel Los Patos (25/10/13-1/11/13), and were very satisfied with the hotel. We booked through A1 travel, which came as a package but it was all separate booking for hotel transfers etc.
Personally don’t book transfers as the train station is directly outside departures at Malaga Airport to Benalmadena, or a taxi is 20Euros, and does not take forever to get to hotel and airport.

Regards to the hotel, the staff are very friendly, especially Domingo in the bar area. All named brand spirits, Bourbons, Whisky’s, soft drinks, cocktails, etc. are all included on the All Inclusive. There is also Free Wi-Fi down in the reception and bar area and near the quiet pool. Beach is only 100m away down the road, with the marina a good 30-45 min walk on the sea front, which is worth it, or the local bus which stops at the bottom of the hotel.

Hotel area had a modern style look with indoor and outdoor seating area overlooking the quiet pool. Also for children, the slides are brilliant addition to the hotel. There is an area for the younger age (Pirate ship, water bucket drop and other smaller slides) and for the older children there are the bigger/faster slides in the other pool.

Regards to the rooms, I believe these are very basic and what lets the hotel down. I believe these needs modernising to bring it up to standard to the rest of the Hotel. The toilet and shower areas we fine and modern, but the actual sleeping area was basic, with two separate beds, old style TV, and dated colours bedding. But overall the rooms were kept clean and tidy and bedding and bath towels changed every day. All rooms have Air-conditioning, Safe boxes, and hair-dryer.

Food in the hotel had different variety every night, but this sometimes got a bit repetitive and minimal. Think this was due to the hotel closing on the Friday for the end of the season and due to eh amount of people that was in the hotel. There was something for everyone including fresh salads, cold/hot meats, pasta, Stir fry’s, fish, Pizzas etc.

Overall the hotel is graded at a 4 star, but I believe it does not meet these criteria due to the need of modernising the rooms. Other than this the hotel is great for adults and also young families and would give the hotel a 3-4 star grade. Would definitely return to this hotel and would also recommend this hotel to other people.

Room Tip: Have a Higher room to get a View over the pools and also the Mountains

Stayed from Oct 10th to 17th. First thing I have to say is that the staff were very friendly & helpful, I worked in hotels for 10 years & to see that is a credit to your hotel. Me, my wife & our 4 & 5 year old girls stayed a week & 1 thing is for sure, the girls loved the swimming pool. When I had booked it I wasn't aware of the new kids pools with slides etc so we were absolutely delighted especially as it saved us money on going to a water park. Good to see the lifeguards constantly watching. Room was a bit small for the 4 of us but wasn't too bothered as we we're hardly in the room. Cleaned every day which was good. Breakfast & dinner was good, good variation at dinner & plenty of fish which made me happy. Staff in restaurant we're very good especially the waiter who greeted us each morning & evening & seated us, think he must've been the supervisor. Choice of drinks on the all inclusive package was very good. Only downside to the holiday was the evening entertainment, seemed to be directed at the older generation. We were there on school holidays & both thought the hotel missed a chance to entertain youngsters maybe between 7 & 9pm & then have adult entertainment afterwards. Our girls did enjoy running about the dance floor right enough to the annoyance of some older people. I'd definitely return in the future but hopefully the entertainment will be a bit better.

We arrived at the hotel to find we were not even on the system, didn’t take them long to allocate rooms to us. Had booked with Jet2. We stayed for 12 days and found the hotel to be quiet during the day as many people seemed to go away on bustours.

Pool Areas
Those who stayed had a choice of great pools to have fun at. The slides, flumes and pirate ship are brilliant for children and the lifeguards did their best to keep the children entertained. Unfortuately for our grandchildren there were very few 11-16 years olds at the hotel., seemed to be full of elderly guests.Plenty of sunbeds available at all 3 pools and other areas.

Entertainment[ or lack of it!!}
There was games advertised on a board for daytime activities but there was no one came round to encourage you to go and take part in these games- only seen games played after a couple of boys went and asked about them.
Evening entertainment is the same as we have seen now for years in all the Spanish Hotels, nothing on in the evenings that was of interest to teenagers.

Restuarant
Food in the restaurant varied and at times was nothing special but always fresh salad and fruit on offer. Had the usual problem of most buffet restaurants with food never really very hot. We ate out a couple of nights and a couple of lunchtimes when on trips on the local bus.

Bar
Bar staff were fun to be around and very efficient and the drinks were not local brands but branded drinks which was a first for us on an all inclusive holiday.
Must tell the story of asking for a licor 43 and fanta orange- next thing I was asked if I wanted milk- turned out I was getting a cup of tea !!
The use of the room key for all inclusive drinks was good but you are not informed that when you vacate your room at 12 noon and hand back your key you no longer have all inclusive even if not picked up for flight until late evening. Any other hotels we have been all inclusive until we left for airport.

Rooms
Would not class the hotel as 4 star- feel it is rather basic rooms with old style TV’s. Rooms clean and towels changed daily and bedding changed several times during our stay. Have a fridge in the room but no electricity during the times you are out as keycard has to be used to turn the electricity on in the room.
However I do believe that refurbishment of the rooms will now have commenced.

We were very disappointed with this hotel - it was not a "cheap" holiday, yet it felt like a two star hotel. Crowds and queues all the time - the staff seeming to feel they needed to keep everyone in line - bossing you around as if you were a child at school! The restaurant was a bit of a bun fight - noisy, and competitive to get food! If you want a sun bed you need to queue for 45 minutes until they "kindly" open the gates and let you in! It felt like being back at school in many respects. Staff seemed to favour Spanish guests, and would merrily serve any Spanish in front of the British, even if they had only just appeared and you had been queuing for ten minutes! Quite stressful on many counts. Will not return! And... they do not provide towels for the pool, so if you do go, make sure you bring yours - not quite what I expected from a supposedly 4 star hotel.

We booked this quite last minute, and having read some other reviews we were a bit apprehensive - however we were absolutely thrilled with this hotel. The water slides were the biggest attraction for my 2 boys, aged 7 and 10, and they made good use of them. The lifeguards were really lovely with all the kids, and very friendly. The rooms are a bit on the small side for a family of 4, but they are clean, towels are changed daily and there is plenty of hot water. We booked half board, and the choice of food was amazing - there were typically 4 or 5 meat dishes, 2 pasta dishes, a couple of rice dishes and then an enormous selection of cold meats, accompaniments and desserts. For breakfast, there was the usual selection of hot food ( with a microwave to warm it up), cereals, fresh fruit, breads and pastries. The food was delicious, and the service friendly and efficient. Another highlight for us was the Happy Hour in the bar, from 5-6! Despite what others have posted, we found the bar staff to be polite and helpful - in fact all the staff in the hotel were really great.
In conclusion, for the price we paid we thought the facilities and service at this hotel were absolutely superb. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in 403, which had a fantastic sea view!
